Yes the January thaw has already started, the dogs were covered in mud after their walks this past week. They had their monthly baths yesterday, a girl comes in a Dog Washing Van to fluff and buff them. She had to shampoo and rinse them twice they were so bad…the water was black with dirt the first go round. Well, if some of the main leaders/branches were ripped off, which is usually the case with wind damage, give them a clean cut so that they can heal properly. This will promote new growth from healthier leaders/branches. In the spring give it some all natural general tree food, Espoma products are very safe and won’t burn any damaged roots. If the damage is real severe, the tree with start to die back, to a point that you will notice it, from the top down or one whole side of canopy. If this happens, it’s too far gone…sad to see when it happens. I’m all about saving trees, but if it can’t be saved, I would suggest planting another one close to where the damaged one was uprooted. Good Feng Shui. You can get free saplings from the Arbor Day Foundation or check with your local govt to see if they have trees at a discount for homeowners. Hope all is well with everyone, was on HP late until this morning fighting the good fight, was so aggravated about the SC decision that I couldn’t sleep. Invited some new people over, one got back to me and said she like this site and will join, so my night ended on a good note. Unfortunately javaz, wind and heavy rain is common in my area so are utility companies are on call 24/7 and get to damage quickly.
