It’s called the “Vanity Tax” and Connecticut Plastic Surgeons and all those ladies who live in Greenwich are up in arms!!!! One of the questions was, “Would I still support the sales tax knowing that 60% of patients planning cosmetic surgery had incomes between $30,000 and $90,000 while 40% of that group had incomes between $30,000 and $60,000?” Well yes I do! Because those figures are Bull Shit and I proceeded to tell the poll taker just that…when you live in the Gold Coast as I do, word gets out on who had what done and how much it cost. And I can tell you, not many of my average income friends can afford Botox injections, let alone any type of cosmetic surgery! Average cost of Rhinoplasty $6,000 to $10,000 And for me, removal of a small fatty cyst near my eye $500, Lazar removal of four dark spots $1,000 So, please do not tell me that the average working women making $30,000 to $60,000 has the disposable income to afford this shit in this area of the country! This poll was clearly paid for by the Connecticut Society of Plastic & Reconstructive surgeons, because every question was just about word for word from their website. If you were an employee, on payroll, he is in violation of set payroll and pay, Federal and probably a State violation. 2.) Did he deduct your room out of your pay? Could be state violation. 3.) If you were an independent contractor, he may be violating Fed and State laws regarding contractor status and lack of withholding payroll taxes. It has already started to happen, there is a recall vote going on today of the Republican Mayor of Miami, it doesn’t look good for him. Use of public money to enhance the wealthy is not going to cut it anymore. People are waking up, wising up, Wisconsin has shown that the common person does have the power to change things. Now we need to harness their dissatisfaction, organize it and use it to change how things get done on the State and Federal level. I am hoping that this will lead to more progressive Dem candidates willing to step up and run, that they see all is not lost and that big money is not the answer, that the power of the people behind you is. Below is a message from Elizabeth Oliver of Animal Refuge Kansai: From our experience of the Great Hanshin earthquake on January 17th 1995, we know that the number of homeless pets may be immense. Here at ARK, we are preparing for what might be a huge influx of animals. We already have some facilities in place and a team of experienced staff able to deal with traumatized animals. We may have to build emergency shelters as well. The logistics of getting animal from the Tohoku/Sendai area is immense, since roads and other transport links have been cut and may take time to restore. Our only means to get animals down to Osaka may be by helicopter, which was one method we used after the Kobe earthquake. We will use our resources and know-how to help as many animals as we can, following this terrible disaster.
