The GM plants would had to been mixed in with non-GM plants to make it plausible. And whenever there is stress, such as drought, it will reproduce at a higher level. I believe that the so-called “sterile” seed will genetically modify itself in the long run and start producing seed…once it starts doing that, it’s markers will change and Monsanto won’t have a leg to stand on if they try to go after the farmers.
