I do pop in to lurk and have noticed that the number of new conservative posters, you can tell by their low fan/comment count, has increased dramatically. I also believe that the new extreme moderation that is going on over there now was a test to see how many users HP would lose and how many could withstand heavy-handed moderation that most AOL articles have and stayed. I predict that HP will loose their progressive/liberal readership and posters, the numbers will drop and this will turn into another Time/Warner debacle for AOL and Arrianna will walk away with millions….this downward spiral has already started over at HP with the heavy moderation of comments. Not that I’m a big fan of HP and had my suspicions about AH a while back, just like many here. I still post there, but do it with my eyes open. As you stated Adlib, her constant attacks on the President and the sensationalizing of certain stories in order to create a divide amongst her posters just to increase the hits on the blog was so blatant, it had gotten almost comical. What scares me the most with this sale of HP to AOL and the takeover of MSNBC, is watching the systematic dismantling of anything remotely showing a progressive or liberal view. Thus narrowing the outlets of these views to a smaller and smaller audience, relegating us to a fringe position in the eyes of the rest of the US, with the ultimate corporate plan to drown our dissenting voices out totally. The only way to stop this Corporate takeover of our media that promotes right wing views in this country is for a progressive blog to pick up the slack and create the same easy posting method and social aspect that HP has. Oh, and you would also have a rather large furry dog keeping your feet warm, which is very relaxing! At the end of her show last night she showed a touching story of a news crew caught in the oncoming Tsunami and how they and others helped rescue several people using makeshift means to get to them to safety. Stories like this and yours that give us an eyewitness view of the human spirit to overcome and work together during this tragedy are what I like to read about. And our Marines in Okinawa are well-trained in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, and have much experience in that area. The Marines that will arrive will be on the USS Essex. I think it’s high time that the US government use whatever is necessary to airlift the supplies to the areas that need it most. We have the capability, geez, we should use it! The US also needs to send some tankers of fuel in, you would think that the Saudis would do that…I understand that the nuclear situation is a priority, but heck can’t we divide into teams, one to help with the aid and one to help with the issues at the reactors.
