These clowns are upset by someone who says “A candidate or party unwilling to manipulate voter ignorance labors at a systematic disadvantage relative to more unscrupulous opponents.”?

Isn’t this the business plan and guiding principle of Fox News and the Republican party? Anyone for ISIS fighters bringing the Ebola virus across the porous border, all of which is Obama’s fault?

And in fact, premiums paid by healthy insureds have ALWAYS to varying degrees subsidized the health insurance premiums for the infirm and elderly.

Taxpayers and insured individuals have ALWAYS subsidized the health costs of the uninsured, who show up at the ER with kidney failure or a stroke caused by uncontrolled high blood pressure, or diabetic shock from untreated diabetes, all of which, if they only had access to routine health care, could have been controlled relatively inexpensively.

Health system providers increase their prices to offset the cost of the uninsured. These costs raise insurance premium costs of the insured American family an additional $1,000 a year. https://www.americanprogressac…

And that doesn’t include the costs that taxpayers pick up when the uninsured show up at public hospitals for the treatment of often costly illnesses–http://money.cnn.co…

Our system is irrational. Early, lifelong access to health care lowers overall costs for everyone, and gets the elderly to Social Security/Medicare in a healthier condition. The CBO projects that the ACA will long term lower the national debt, for example. And given current trends in health costs, Medicare is projected to remain solvent longer than earlier thought. http://www.reuters.com/article…

And this is shown by the European experience, where the French, for example, enjoy longer life expectancies and better health, for less than half the per capita cost spent in the U.S., while providing coverage to ALL its citizens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L…

The ignorant are those who oppose universal health care, not to mention being cruel, given the adverse long term health effects that a lack of access to health care causes children. http://kff.org/report-section/…

Oh what the hell,I trust the people here Smot,I was recently diagnosed with COPD.I guess the 45 years of smoking took it’s toll.It is in an early stage, and I have had to make some changes in my life.Be god damned though,I haven’t been able to quit smoking entirely.I have cut down a lot.but know that is not good enough.
I have tried the usual things, the gum,the spray etc. Any suggestions Smot?

They are doing their best to destroy his Presidency KT.I am amazed at what he has managed to do despite that. But it is they that will be in the history books as a do nothing Congress that did more harm than good. The President is a good man who truly wants to improve peoples lives.Let us hope that the dems at least hold the Senate.Or America will lose 2 more years of potential progress

Why didn’t the President go to the Texas border? That apparently is the most pressing issue facing America right now.I feel for you my American friends,The house is burning down, and the parties are arguing on how to put it out.
There are those who think Americans should just let it burn. What a farce. And not a funny one

KillgoreTrout,I have a unique suggestion for a music thread.Songs or lyrics within that you find profound in their meaning.Case in point:In My Life by John Lennon….
“Their are places I’ll remember, all my life, though some have changed
Some for better,nor forever
Some have gone and some remain”

This is good news for the progressive cause,What will the R’s do now?The reports of the death of the T Party have been greatly exaggerated.Civil war!! LOL

Hey Killgore, just wanted to say to you that I have had to work a lot of Saturdays lately and have missed your music threads.I really enjoy them and hope to be back soon.

“The only way to stop a bad guy with a nuke,is with a good guy with a nuke” The latest pearl of wisdom from the astoundingly stupid Sarah Palin to thunderous applause.Just when you think Palin couldn’t say anything as stupid as her last statements. She reaches new highs in lows

The fracking R’s praise Putin while dissing their OWN President!!

Wildly Off Topic,if there is one.
What is going on in Iraq now is proof that the administration of GWB made the biggest strategic blunder in history. Not only did they lie to get America fighting there. They fulfilled Osama Bin Laden’s most fevered wet dream. To have Americans fighting in the middle east, draining their treasury. All George and friends accomplished was to shift the balance of power,to Iran.Saddam was no saint, but he kept that balance of power in check. The adventures of George&!Dick has stirred up tribal rivalries that will reverberate for decades.Back to your scheduled programming
