Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

Fox News a reflection of Ailes? Too bad he doesn’t check out the mirror. Now THAT would scare the crap out of him!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 25, 2011 @ 1:50 pm

bito – on reflection, I think it was already made. I believe it was called “Dumb and Dumber”.

LOVE Shriek! I do that whenever I hear her screechy voice.

The “Only Took Me Six Times to” Graduate? “Pirates of the Caribou”?

Ha! Off to the gym with so much to think about….how fun is this???

Bito: Because we are friends? But did I miss your birthday? Uh-oh! SOMEBODY is SURE to get a spanking for that……..

I love you, Buddy. And if it is a birthday – many, many, many, many more, ‘tay? xoxo AB

Bito! The Stones, of course. The bad boys of R&R in my day. I remember my parents not letting me play “Let’s Spend the Night Together” when relatives were visiting……

And of the Beatles: Only John.

P.S. ‘S how Elbis died. I got it from a bored tour guide at Graceland.

I’m going to floss and gargle right before the appointed (uh – anointed?) hour. Want my first “What the hell?” to be minty fresh.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 19, 2011 @ 3:27 pm

Rapturlicious, Whatsie! Now where is my King James version??????

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 19, 2011 @ 3:24 pm

Hi e-cat! Long time no chat. Can’t remember HIS name – only met him once – but I knew his brother well. Did Bob have a brother named Paul, and does he live in Texas???

Glad you are no longer with the guy.

Like a Native American, I give thanks to whatever it was that gave its life to serve me well. I can’t imagine threatening a new one – but I did have to laugh when I saw the photos!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 17, 2011 @ 6:42 am

Cher; For real, I once “knew” of a man (OK, I know his brother) who would take used appliances (eg, his old refrigerator) out into a field, fire his gun at it, then paint red stripes out of the bullet holes. He would then take a photo of the old appliance, and place it on the new appliance as a “fair warning”.

Remember: this IS Texas. Where NASCAR trumps education.

And was Clooney excited I will be his driver/personal assistant? I’ll even give him foot massages……….I’m sure you have told him by now.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 16, 2011 @ 5:15 pm

Hey Cher: Did you “Fonzi” your computer? I whap ’em upside the hay-ed when they misbehave here. There is NOTHING more frustrating to me.

BTW: Loved your DPs while on the month long trip. They were – along w/ Khirad and Kalima’s works – a true lifesaver.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 16, 2011 @ 5:08 pm

C’Lady: Why can’t he be a “stan”? You know along w/ Iran and those other stans. SOME are nice, like Kazakhstan. I feel sure Khiradastan could set a very good example for the others.

Unless he chooses to abad. – AB

Hi Kalima and Kes: Yes, porch poo is up, but the chirpings of the babies and the trilling of the mom is worth it.

Alpha Pup is working with a slingshot to ward off w/ near misses cats who are prowling. I love kitties, but mine are indoor only so as not to terrorize the wrens and cardinals and other much more exotic birds that come to the backyard to feed. There are times I wish I had a busy little terrier to ward them off, but the Pup has risen to the occasion.

Thanks, Kes for reminding me to make the hummingbird food! I have a GREAT recipe for homemade suet which I can post next winter. -AB

Hey ho, Planetarians!

Home again, and spent all day washing clothes (except Funk’s fancy pants), cleaning, unpacking, etc.

I did notice we have the cutest nest of wrens on the front porch, so one errand involved buying big juicy worms for Mrs. Wren for Mother’s Day. I laughed so hard – they were over the moon excited to see a dish of fat worms, right under the nest for easy pickings! We are going sparingly, but I think it was probably the most perfect Mother’s Day gift I have ever bought! And what a deal: 75 worms for $6.31.

In case I pass out, have a great VP. I had hoped to join in for once, but I don’t think I will type well with my eyes closed.

Cher: call me if Mr. Clooney needs OR wants me…..

Why, Funk, of course I do, dahlin’. It’s all I wear, all the time.

I’m assuming this was your underlayer??

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 6, 2011 @ 3:25 pm

HIGHlarious, Funk! Well, aren’t you Mr. Fancypants! Dry clean your pants? Can’t you wash them?????????

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 6, 2011 @ 1:49 pm

And he’s a softcore man…..

Do I need at time out???

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 6, 2011 @ 10:13 am

I will take myself off site if I find that I am getting too sharp/sensitive. It’s like just walking over to the corner and putting yourself in it. If I can’t be nice, I can’t play.

I find this site remarkable in its gentle corrections and attempts to let everyone have a say. Kudos to AdLib, Kalima, KQuark, Bito and the rest…..

Off to Nirvana (Balmorhea State Park). Will be out of touch – totally – for a day. Forgive me (especially dear kes) if I do not respond to any comments.

Saw THE weirdest thing EVER today in UFO land. First, the hunky firefighters (referenced in earlier comment). Today I saw hordes (at least 2 dozen) of NATO ISAF forces here, in uniforms. Men and women. I recognized the country tag, and addressed them in native tongue. It was……odd……to say the least. They regarded me as suspiciously as I did them. Perhaps it was Reza Aslan’s book, Beyond Fundamentalism, that threw them?

New Mexico always gets to me. I am just not meant to live here. So back to the land of idiots and big hair, where for some reason I feel more at home……..

Can’t cut and run??? Try to do the Pearl Brewery. The Museum of Art (old Lone Star Brewery) is a cool architectural treasure. River Walk boat tour is interesting IF you have a good guide.

My favorite place: Southwest School of Art, in the old Ursuline Convent (on the river). Sort of a holy place for me as the grounds are gorgeous – especially the garden overlooking the river.

Also fun: King William District/Guenther House. Walk behind the big old houses and enjoy the gardens.

By that time, you will need only clothes that would work in Cuba: light weight, light colored. It will be hotter’n hell, day and night, with high humidity.

Of course, I went to Santa Fe and found I had to do some thrift store emergency shopping for sweaters/jackets.

Have fun, and get my email from the Admin if you want to contact me. You can meet my Afghan kids! – AB

HH: Have you gotten to TX yet??? I’ll be home on Thursday evening. I’m SO sorry I didn’t send you that list of things to do – lots happened that I didn’t expect, and I have been gone for almost a month now.

If I know you haven’t come yet, I’ll compile that list soon. Again, lo siento, chica. Let me know. I’ll buy you a Margy or a beer. – AB

Bito: Nope, hon. I’m in for the evening in lovely Roswell. On the plus side: there are many hunky fire fighters at the same hotel, all covered in soot and looking heroic to me. More than makes up for the alien schtick.

As to Oh Really and Blech: I thought the reference was to making a REAL difference (ie legislatively) and not just in herding sheep. My bad…………

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 3, 2011 @ 8:27 pm

Gracias, KT. I’m ashamed that I could not remember independently. can I blame some “alien probes” since I’m in Roswell????

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 3, 2011 @ 7:32 pm

Me too, KT. And that’s “real” journalism that IS influential, IMHO. I wish I could spell the name without having to stop and google it – Drogba???

NOTE: This proves I am NOT a journalist…..

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 3, 2011 @ 7:23 pm

Wow, Bito. Pop quiz? I’d say Rachel and Richard (Engle). But truly, Jon Stewart, even though he’s not a “real” journalist. No way the first responders bill would have gotten through without his featuring those heroes on his show. And that influenced the stuck Senate Repuglicans. “Winning……..”

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 3, 2011 @ 7:09 pm

Cher: HA on Geller. Bless her heart, if she has one. Wow – she could be the trifecta of the Wizard of Oz, needing it all……

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 3, 2011 @ 4:39 pm

Hi Dear Patsy! I saw your response. And I must correct myself: Donald’s mouth is that of a TRIGGER FISH, not a parrot fish. My apologies to all the parrot fish of the world.

But I think the photo above may overestimate his cranial capacity.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On May 1, 2011 @ 2:52 pm

Patsy: How can one tell if the Donald is pouting? With a mouth like a parrot fish and all……..

I propose a contest at POV to determine exactly what color of ClairTrump/Trumpreal he uses on the Tribble. I’ll go with “Strawberry Cheesecake”.
