Hi to my dear friends in Tokyo! Whatsie, I’m in Pagosa Springs CO, soaking in the incredibly healing pools. I will go soak in the warm pools full of lithium (YEA) and say a prayer for Rosie to recover quickly and resume her eating. It’s NEVER good for a girl to “go off her feed”, which is why I must dash off for breakie.’

BIG love to you and Kalima. I’ll check in later, but it’s hard to drag me out of those pools, I tell ya! -AB

So true, Khirad. Alpha Pup’s initial response to the “protests” (read: slaughter) in Afghanistan was: “Are they crazy? They burned thousands of Qurans in those schools! ?But where is the outrage?” Thank you for finding this; I’ll call him today (I’m in NM) and have him read this. Not sure it will work,this concept of peaceful protests among the Kandahari Afghan population, but sure glad to see even an effort being made to fucking THINK about things.

Insurance. The Blov knows it well. If I leave, he will never find anything ever again.

I have hidden his car keys after repeated warnings (from me and the police) about leaving them in the garage for hours on end with the garage door open.

I’ll try hiding the soy sauce, but not sure it will be as effective. The cell phone, now that’s a keeper.

I think what you are feeling is probably some of that thing they call “survivor’s guilt”. It’s common.

Strange, I have never seen that in my children. They have “survivor’s joy”. If I can find it and bottle it, I will send it to you!

I loved the story about the students helping find and return the photos. Those are irreplaceable memories, and when one has lost so much, they can be gold. How wonderful.

don’t worry about me. My work load will diminish after Tuesday (BIG board meeting), and I might even take almost a month off.

Incredibly great news: My hard headed boy who is now in school in NE has his family coming to visit; they are coming where I live to meet me and his host family in mid-May. AND my MO girl(who broke her leg) called – her mom and dad are coming early May for a month! They want me to come to MO to visit, and I’m thinking I should.

For the first time in six years, I have an opportunity to meet some of “my” kids parents! Truly a first – AND TWO of them!

Love you -will write you tomorrow.

Will say a prayer for the workers before bed.

VERY sad. I pray for those brave souls working to contain the damage at the Fukushima plant. May God give them strength, and peace to those who are so desperately relying on their strength.

Not to weigh in on scary things (I abhor all things scary), but do make an effort to take quick showers; the skin absorbs so much crap in tap water that a long soak is probably no longer advisable. Just take care, my dear one.

When camping in Big Bend, a shower is a one hour drive away. We live with baby powder for the greasy hair and baby wipes for the “bathing”. Works, and everyone smells sweet. We allow ourselves showers every 3rd or 4th day only. I’m an avid bather, but adjust when needed. I spent one month hitchhiking through Mexico in the 70s, and decided I didn’t really need to bathe much at all. My daddy put a quick nix on that idea immediately upon my return home……..

Of course, you could always come for a visit only and soak in my tub as long as you like – even until you got all prune-y. I know you are not likely to leave, but I want you to know you are welcome here. Mi casa es su casa, querida.

Hi dear K! I think the shaking and lack of sleep and stress have caused you to see an AB in a cute dog instead. Although I believe we ALL have a LITTLE AB in us…

There was a lovely song by an old woman Ola Belle Reed called “I’ve Endured”. I’ll post it later if I can find it, as a tribute to the Japanese people and their other brave citizens.

Just the fact you are here (and to top it off, continuing the beloved MB) is great, K.

Could donkeys get through? Just thinking of Afghanistan, which has its own issues. The horses and donkeys are effective means of transport there.

Your husband is right; it’s quite a 12 step program of survival right now. God willing, things will get stabilized soon and the healing can begin.

Just to say thank you for keeping us in the loop – both on a news scale and (more importantly to me, dearest one) on a personal scale.

I second Bito in hoping this week is an uneventful as it can be. Give the tribes a big hug and kiss for me. I’d empty sausages for you if I were there!

Spring break for the Pup here, and he passed his classes. Now we are trying to have some fun. A little hard to do with all the news weighing heavily, but he deserves a break.

The quickest of check ins to get updates on WTS and you, dear Ms. K!

Happy to hear the house still stands and seems without damage. God knows you must be shaken to the soul, and will be for some time. And may those who have lost or who are missing loved ones find some resolution and then begin the climb to peace within their souls once more.

I have lost friends to airplane crashes, car crashes, murders, and many to all types of sickness. I was complaining to a friend about how many friends I thought I had unfairly lost. The friend to whom I was speaking reminded me that perhaps I had lost what seemed to be so many precisely because I am fortunate enough to have so many. A moment of gratitude. And yes, the single most important thing we can do each and every day of our lives is to let those we love know that we love them.

And I feel very, very lucky to have you guys here – and even luckier to know you are safe.

Again, let me know what – if anything – I can do for you guys or your fellow ones. Except watch, pray and hope – that’s being done. – AB

THAT’S why you love the “big dog”! A built in mulch machine.

We have some thrashers (big brown birds, kin to mockingbirds) who love to thrash (hence the name) all the leaves to find the big juicy bugs underneath. The Pup and I watched them and laughed this morning.

Geez, and to think we spend $400 to $500 on cedar mulch, when I could just buy the Big Dog a ticket here! I saw his photo – what a sweet face. Love his eyes.

Pup and I will dig up the bluebonnets growing in the stones forming the walkway (somehow the birds can’t get those seeds?) and transplant them to my butterfly and/or herb garden.

Jays are squawking. Time for peanuts!

PW: Did I tell you that we almost once moved to Tomball (in the days of Compaq), where my Seattle BFF kept calling “Goofball, TX”. I wanted Cut-n-Shoot so I could send out notices of change of address that said “AlphaBitch has gone to Cut-n-Shoot”.

That’s a REAL town, folks. I liked it until I drove through it. Even I couldn’t stomach the thought of living there, so we stayed in Redmond, WA.

BDM: Not enough coffee yet. I confused Bradley Manning with Peyton Manning, and just skimming the HL, thought “Why are they wanting to punish that football player?” True story.

I think of you when I am outside; the weather here is lovely now (70s) and we are gardening away. Give me a couple of months and I will be sweating and cursing, while you write of your lovely gardens. I’ll post a photo when finished….

***EDIT** I’m sure that such mistakes will not happen again once I get my pink MB mug! It’s only because I’m drinking from an inferior mug.

The Blov and I will concur, but there are others that come to mind: Henry David Thoreau, Aldo Leopold (the father of wildlife science, which was my collegiate major) and Rachel Carson (although disqualified by the hint “him”) to name a few. Thank God for them all.

Morning Ms. K. Hope the tribes are dry.

We are WAY too busy here, getting the yard ready for spring. We have a wildscape, with a big pond and lots of native plants. With the hard freezes, I wonder what did/did not “make it”. Happy to say there are only a few to replace. And the buds are peeking out of the Mexican plum and the lacey oak and it’s lovely.

Take care – have to rush off to the job. Well, at least one of the three I have now…

I am SO excited to see my pink Morning Blog cup! I love the fact that each morning I can have literal and not just virtual coffee with you! In fact, I think I will take it to work, and walk (strut) around with it, so that everyone can ask me about the Planet.
