Morning Blog

Hi dear K! Thank you SO much for helping restore my precious photos – I’d lost creepy driver and baby girl w/ moustache.

Busy work week, but then things should be a little better for me to do a nice long catch up.

Trivia guess: not as much as me?????

Again, thank you, dear friend. I’m good now. -AB

Morning loved ones! I got a computer – although we have lost everything less than 3 years old. Bought a new super duper mega back up and now back up daily. I lost all my emails and addresses, so those who write/have written me, please write again so I can save.

That said: Ghaddafy in hell will be staring at Dick Cheney. Torture them both.

Karzai can’t make up his mind? He’s toast if we leave, no matter how he now kisses up to the Taliban. I’m just no longer sure our staying will matter, except to the minority groups who will undoubtedly have to pay for aligning themselves with us.

So write me, kes, Kalima, Bito, Khirad. I need to re-find the email addresses and I need help (but we all knew that already).

Off to work. Nice to “see” you pals on a computer with a real screen and a keyboard that doesn’t bounce around. -AB

Hi K and all: My hard drive burnt up – i have no photos, no documents, no records, no nada. And since we didn’t have a big enough back up (because we share a desktop) and because the Blov is (to my mind) a space hog, we might have lost a LOT. Can’t do the Israel/Palestinian thing because…well, you know.

Thank God I have the little netbook. But it’s hard to use without typing in weird and unintentional places.

So I’ll be scarce for now. BUT I did want you to know that the chirrens are doing something BIG and WONDERFUL. Will update you soon. As a “mom”, I could not be more proud of my little chibolastis……

Here’s hoping Khirad and Bito are fine in AZ. If not, my home in TX is yours to use, dear ones. Contact me via Kalima. -AB

Facing Ignorance

FWIW Buddy, the photo of spam sushi made me urp coffee. I once left a group of good old boys from college on a tropical ecology trip to interior Mexico when all they did was sit around, drink beer, fart and eat spam. (Think about it: it’s a cause and effect thing) Although I have recovered enough to drink beer, the other two still frighten me, and I believe should ONLY be done in private.

Now let me go scrub my eyeballs……….

(Oh – and nice to “meet” you! Love your insight…..)

The Failure That is Fox News

Ok for some snark: Isn’t Becky Glenn the Talking ASS?

I trust my source, Ecat. Let’s hope his source was as reliable.

The neighborhood bar? Like in Cheers? I dub “Carla”. If Cliffie wasn’t such a Repubelickin, I’d be Cliff. Cross gender OK?

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 12, 2011 @ 11:04 am

I heard from my dinner guest last night (a former news producer for CBS and a former director at TNN) who is now a communications professor. He said Becky has lost 39% of his viewing audience, and he feels he is on the short list to be canned. One can only hope.

BTW: The conversation started when I shared Patsy’s “Mock the Dummy” video find with him.

Check AL below. Always suspected he was a “bottle blonde”.

Not to mention your own version of reality.

Mubarak: Half sunk, a shattered visage lies

My “son” in Nebraska is a genius and made me a true Afghan kite, out of tissue paper and with thread and glue and a bamboo frame, that he had carved and shaved. I cried and wouldn’t let anyone fly it. It rests in my closet still. But we made another one that we did fly. Oh my. They are so incredible.

So do my inlaws in the midwest. Just went to a funeral where I and my brother in law (married to the only sister) had to sit BEHIND the family, not WITH the family. Not blood kin, not welcome.

A song for the people of Egypt, from Patty Griffin. I’ve loved this song for the symbolism it has for me, in that I was told that kites filled the skies in Afghanistan when the Taliban were ousted. Would that kites would once more rule! Please give it a listen when you have a chance.

Me too. They’re the ones who – when angry – actually LOWER their voices. That’s when all hell is gonna break loose.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:43 am

Unbelievable. I’m 70 miles to your southwest in your ugly step sister city. (Home of John “night of Israel” Hagee).

Two Texans. Oh-oh. This could be bad (or good). Just went to BookPeople, my favorite store.

Want to handle parking? Please be sure the camels are kept from spitting on the guests.

Here’s hoping it’s easily digestible.

Makes me think Obama does NOT like to be bullied.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:27 am

Followed by YIKES Day.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:24 am

Okay. I have a group of seven local Afghans, perhaps one more in Austin and one more in Nebraska, that can form my army. 50 billion what? Cat hairs? Done. I’ve often wondered if we could formulate some cat hair bombs to disable the Taliban. You know, give antihistamines to women and children, and then bomb the heck out of them with cat hair. I was willing to send a cat hair bomb to the Egyptians, too, for use against Boobarak until I remembered that it is the home of domestic cats………

Hmmm. Maybe I’d be a better potato head. I have had the titular designation of “Grand Empress Pooh-Bah” before. But I think “Potential Potentate” is even more……potent???

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:18 am

you could be right. I’m a shitty (pun intended) joke teller.

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:12 am

Great minds think alike, so they say! Or focus on pants…

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:11 am

Brian Williams just said a lot of “potentates are parked in front of their televisions” right now. Does this mean I can be a potentate, too?

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:10 am

Yep. I’m feeling pretty good. Adios, cockroach! (the name of my old chili cookoff team, which always seemed to frighten the judges…..)

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:07 am

Ever hear the joke about the guy watching the British soldier in his red pants? He asked a comrade why the British leaders wore red pants and was told “So if they are shot, their soldiers will not see the blood and not be dismayed.” After contemplating this a moment, the Revolutionary man removes his spyglass and tells his man “Bring me my BROWN pants.” Ha! How many pairs of brown pants do you think they will be selling today?????

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:06 am

Oooh ooh! I want that job – the “bubble burster”! I think I’d be GREAT at this!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On February 11, 2011 @ 8:01 am
