Morning Blog

Hi K! I’m sending you telepathically transmitted open drains and great soaks in Dead Sea Salts, with essences of lavendar.

It’s the least I can do for your kindness with our drought. We had 3 days of rainshowers – getting almost 1.5″. I’m overjoyed!

So here’s to a nice long warm soak and a quickly draining bathtub/sink/toilet (all of ’em).

Hugs – AB

“First the planet, next the world?” Congrats, Kalima. Could not happen to a nicer human being!

(Is my font tiny?? it is on the computer….wha happened?)

Oh dear, K! No A/C. If it were me, I’d just get in the car, waste gas, drive north and stop when it was much cooler. Like Montana, p’rhaps. Don’t know that’s possible where you are……You have my condolences.

I haven’t read anything today – still following news out of Kabul. Fortunately, my friends and students are fine. Some of you here know of my struggles each and every day to help this country and some of my children; I can’t help but think “maybe now they will listen to me”, if you know what I mean. A mother’s prayer.

Kiss your kitties. I’m on “vacation” while Blov works. I snuck out today, unwashed and ungroomed, to grab a cup of soup. It’s actually raining a little, so I was anxious about getting back. However, I did NOT want to run into the Blov or his suited up co-workers, so waited until well after 1PM to go. Surprise! I turn the corner, and he’s waving to beat the band. I shook my head wildly, shouted “Nope, not now”, covered my face with the book I am reading (Night of the Golden Butterfly) and dashed back into my fancy pants hotel. ARRRRGGGHHHHH! Can’t a girl have some P&Q???? Now his coworkers will surely think I am rude. One is from India, and I have looked forward to meeting him for some time. Oh well. C’est le vie. Don’t mess with Texas (girls who haven’t yet groomed).

Beautiful, K. Thank you.

Last night, in a show of true patriotism, The Blov, The Pup and the family who hosted my hard headed Pashtun boy (who called yesterday, BTW) went to eat at a Pakistani restaurant. Seemed to me to be a fitting way to commemorate the date. They were lovely and very gracious people, although I kept asking our group to QUIT talking 911, in respect to how it might make the restaurant owners and customers feel.

A simple thing to do, but it seemed to me more fitting than watching the umpteenth hour of coverage. I will not fit myself into a victim role, if I can help it. There ARE victims to this, but it wasn’t me.

Pup and I are going to have a little ceremony later, and will include those who suffered at the hands of Mother Earth as well.

Love how you phrase things, dear one. Peace to you, too.

Feminine?

find your jammy top yet, K? Off to work – hi ho, hi ho.

And if you see Bito, running around in yellow shorts – you’re welcome.

Silly Ms. K! Chocolate ice cream only when it’s over 100F! NOW we are so nice and cool this morning – everyone is smiing. Getting back up to 98F later, but for now – ahhhhh!!!

Wildfires eating up land (bigger than the state of Connecticut – the locals always like to reference “bigger than” in all statements), and totally out of control. Southeast of Austin.

And Perry came back to “oversee”? From the $10,000/month mansion we rent for him, as the Governor’s Mansion is being renovated? PUH-LEASE.

My theory is that he will find a way to avoid ALL debates, until it is safe – for HIM. He never once debated Bill White in the last race because he WOULD have lost, had he done so. Grrrr!!!

Hugs to the hub. Enjoy the ice cream (for you, anything is possible!) – AB

So glad you are fine, Ms. K! I think KT got the trivia right.

We are due for a “cool front” today, coming down from 105F to 95F. But dry, dry, dry as a bone. Trees – some of them big old ones – are dying all over the state. Sad. Grass crunches when you walk on it.

Why – if we can make pipelines and gaslines to ship energy around the country – can’t we set up some system of lines to take water from areas having huge floods, and ship it through lines to states struggling for water? If Rick Perry is the miracle worker, let’s see a REAL miracle here.

OK, off for brunch at a Brit Pub. YUM!

Uh huh, uh huh! I win AGAIN. I guess it’s all the experience I had with corsets and stuff before they went out of style……

I’d guess on this one, but I don’t even know the Greek word for primary. I think my “streak” is over………..

As to weather: we just found out the much hoped for tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is going New Orleans instead. And instead of that helping usher in a cool front (95F is “cool” somehow now, like Rick Perry is “presidential”), we will stay at over 100F. It’s been over 50 days and counting now. My landscape is fried, and we fought the good fight with hand watering, thanks to Alpha Pup. Sigh….

I WON!!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!! I beat Bito AND the Blov, both of ’em. Yay me!!! Wait until I tell Raul….

OK, and because I’m so cocky now – I’ll guess: they either NEEDED the stay material for the war effort, or they COULDN’T GET the whale bone supports. (Covering all my bases here)

What a GREAT day – for me! Stay warm and dry there. I awakened, dreaming of big storm coming. I was somewhere in KS or MO, and staying at a little house. I was running home from a meeting, where I was trying to get my garbage together to hand off to a garbage truck, when I realized how dark and stormy it was becoming. So I ran back to the little house, passing a large farmhouse on the way. I asked if I could bring only my Vanity Fair magazine and stay there in the basement, to be told it would not be atornado but a flood and I didn’t want to be in the basement. So stay warm and dry, and we’ll stay inside and cool.

You wicked, girl! Gots to go make a call, take a bath, sing some canciones, and get ready for night night. Now shush about that my man/my husband thing…..

» Posted By AlphaBitch On August 31, 2011 @ 6:29 pm

K: so is hers! He played in her band and was the band manager. (And don’t tell anyone – but the Blov is also my man…….)

» Posted By AlphaBitch On August 31, 2011 @ 6:21 pm

Starting over: to Bito – you may like the Blov, but here’s my response via Ms. Irma Thomas – You Can Have My Husband, But Please Don’t Mess With My Man

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0BpUtyV97c

And to Ms. K – Nope, I can’t sing OR play the piano. BUT I have danced the night away to Irma!!!! That counts for sumpin’, right?

» Posted By AlphaBitch On August 31, 2011 @ 6:07 pm

LOVE this! Going in my favorites. Wowee wow! I want her panache at 80. Twenty years to work on it – although the bob is my style…….FYI……

» Posted By AlphaBitch On August 31, 2011 @ 5:46 pm

Um hum. BTW: The Blov votes for Hispanola. He says Cuba ain’t in the Caribbean, and he’s a sailor (how do you think Raul and I will get to Cuba?) Come join us, Ms. K! Always room for you!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On August 31, 2011 @ 5:43 pm

And in my honey badgerness, I don’t give a shit. I still vote Cuba. it’s one of my wish list places to visit. Maybe it’s in the straits, maybe not. But Raul Malo, mi sancho, is of Cuban descent. And while lying in a cold jacuzzi, and listening to him sing las canciones en Espanol, I dream of sailing to Cuba with him (calm down! AND the Blov) to tour his patria. I bet he has a fine patria……

Brrrrr Bito! 104! {{{{shiver}}}}} We were 105, so there. And I’m not even in AZ. Phew! Check TOOT later – I’ll fill you in on the chirrens and their new project. And put on a sweater, young man! -AB

DEAR Ms. K!!! Yes, it’s still too hot over here – about 50 days of temps over 100. Of course, I was outta here w/ the Blov and the Pup for two weeks, so I’ve **ONLY** had 37 days. Sheesh. And the long term prognostication (word of the day) is this will be the “pattern” for five years. F*ck this. I’m headed to Canada. I’ll be illegal there, so shhh!! don’t tell anyone. Where’s Mighty Woof when we need her???

Looking forward to the she-mail. I’ll do a kiddo update on TOOT. Little boogers – I’m so proud of them. If it wasn’t so hot, I’d dance. As it is – Bring me a beer, and peel me a grape. -AB

K – Whew! As long as YOU believe me, I’m no John Boehner……

I’m sending you a special PPT today, courtesy of a friend in the Great White North.

Off to get the Blov to the airport. Later – (much later) – AB

Darn it, Khirad! I knew that one. We are trying to get adopted by a former exchange student (who is now 23) so we can go live on St. Maarten.

darn it. and i did really, really truly know it. I swear, Ms. K! Can I get half credit?????

» Posted By AlphaBitch On July 24, 2011 @ 7:22 am

The Blov has a work colleague from Mumbai. We checked, and his family/friends are OK.

Jeez, now there is one more place/country/continent that I have to follow. Like Palestine/Afghanistan/Syria weren’t enough…..

your thought? I’m going Laskar. But wasn’t it the other group who pulled off the big Mumbai attack???

» Posted By AlphaBitch On July 14, 2011 @ 9:57 am

Damn, Sam. No slipper eating for you – or me – today. Sigh. Ah well…

» Posted By AlphaBitch On July 11, 2011 @ 4:09 pm

Kalima: Meg Ryan???? Oh, let me win just ONE. And wouldn’t it be just fitting to win the one about orgasms……..

I’d invite you over to cool off, but it would not help. Even the rivers are drying up and parks closing because the rivers are too low/dry. Yikes. Time to head north…. – AB

» Posted By AlphaBitch On July 11, 2011 @ 6:08 am

Kalima: HA! Love the names. So apropos.

I once had a friend named Ruby Montana, who had a cat named “Baby Jesus” (can’t remember why) and a Cocker Spaniel named Roy Rogers. Once the door was open, Roy ran out and the cat followed. Ruby stood in the street – in SEATTLE, of all places – yelling: “Roy Rogers! You get back in here! Baby Jesus, get your butt over here now.”

I always laugh when I remember the shocked look on the faces of the passerbys. Some kinda prayer session…..

I thought Hanuki might have been a Double Bubble entendre.

Take care. Stay still, if you can. The heat here is horrid and I am just worn out. – AB

AdLib: Man, you don’t even want to know how the earth feels about you……remember that potato chip bag you threw out of the car, sometime when you were about 11? Yeah, me and Earth, we been talkin’.

(See how Palinesque I can be? Drop the “g” and you too can speak Palin!)

GREAT to see everyone here is A-OK, including the outside wall sitters. Don’t want no Humpty-Dumpty, just a Hanuki, whatever that means.

Love to all. OK to sway, not to tumble is my thought for the day… – AB

Gecko? Geiko? Giuseppe? Geppo? No clue. I swear. but I did like the ones IN the movies….

Hotter’n hell Texas hugs back to you, dear Ms. K!

PS I just cheated. I looked it up, and – ERK – none of the above. but thanks for letting me play…..

» Posted By AlphaBitch On July 9, 2011 @ 3:48 pm

Zeppo. Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo. I’ve no clue as to #5, which is the one Kalima wants.

Sigh….I loved the Marx Brothers AND the Three Stooges (but only with Curly). Being a girl, that made me the odd man out when small.

Hi K. There are bell peppers – not chili peppers – in most every dish from Louisiana that I have eaten, so I’m throwing that in. Rice in a lot of dishes, too. But I have no idea about a third ingredient, if shrimp and crayfish have already been put out there. Hmmm…I might need to go “research” the matter……a nice trip to NOLA.

Khirad: I would have fainted at chartreuse. And yes, I know what that is. An unattractive yellow greenish color.

See? I read the crayons!

You are TOO cool for words, dude!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On June 24, 2011 @ 7:38 am

Kalima/Kes: I second this. I had thought “Navy blue”. Remember – I never play this, but felt compelled to do so today. And then I saw Kes’ answer and thought “Yes! Indigo! NOT Navy – Indigo!”

Like I have a freakin’ clue. But it makes sense to me somehow…..

And Khirad: kudos for knowing lime green. The Blov’s contention is that males generally suck at color identification. Everything is “brown”, “red”, “blue” or “green”. No mauve vs. fuschia, grape vs. periwinkle, taupe vs. cocoa. His justification? Little girls read the color labels on the Crayolas. Little boys pulled off the wrappers quickly to eat the crayons. (It is the Blov, remember)
