He was denied the hand of Ayisha’s sister (Mohammed’s fourth, youngest and most favored wife – who became a soldier when he died, mind you) in marriage because of what people believed were his misogynistic ways.

KQ: Why do you think they are “far more sympathetic”? I think AIPAC has long held the interests of a foreign country – even one so near and dear to many of our hearts – above the interests of the U.S.

And what about the Israeli spy caught in Doug Feith’s office? Stealing and giving secrets to another government. If this were a Jordanian man, or Turkish man, who are supposed to be our allies, what do you think the reaction would have been?\

I agree totally on the honest broker in the President. I just think that if the Palestinians had the lobbying money and force of an AIPAC the congress could not be so easily “convinced” to stand up and cheer for Netanyahu. I don’t understand WHY we allow lobbies and campaign contributions from ANY foreign government or anyone acting on behalf of another country’s interests.

That’s just my POV.

Khirad; I’ve heard from my girl; evidently she is still OK, although messages are fewer and further between. All innocuous stuff – flowers, clothes, spring, etc.

KQ: Have you read the books by Paul Findley, who was a member of Congress until he stood up to the Israeli lobby? Again, I can talk your ear off about this after spending 2 years researching the facts. AND the Blov went over to see for himself what facts on the ground were.

I believe in Israel’s right to exist, but at what cost? Our 8.2 million a day in military aid to them? The ill will we create by lopsided aid? The lives and homes of Palestinians destroyed? The water resources stolen from Qalquilya (Palestinian) for use on Israeli lawns and pools?

The truth is out there, but the media dare not mention it.

BTW; There are some incredibly brave Israelis who try and tell the truth against their own government, like we tried to do under W. Their voices are harder to hear, but they are there and they are growing. Our Congress, on the other hand, greedy pigs they are to feed at the trough of AIPAC or delusional as they are to believe once the Jewish temple is rebuilt, Jesus will return – well, I can’t hear them AT ALL.

The blood is on my hands through my taxes. It IS my fight, too.

Proud of you for weighing in, Pup!

I remember how, following the abandonment of AFG after the Soviet occupation, how THIS was the bloodiest and worst time for Afghans. More killing was done through the civil war – as is often the case, throughout the world – than by occupying forces. So the thought of again setting force ethnic warlord against ethnic warlord scares me, for the families of my children and for all innocents who are put through this hell.

I do agree with my esteemed leader, Commandant AdLib, below that it appears there will HAVE to be some sort of reconciliation with the devils themselves (aka Taliban). As you and I had discussed many times, long before the Arab uprising, I saw a possibility that Afghan youth would no longer accept being forced into a seventh century life, despite graybeards best efforts.

I hope that the Green Revolution in Iran serves as an impetus for my beloved Afghans.

The news about the protest in Kabul made me happy. I’ve long said, the US needs to hear the voices of those who say “enough”.

Now get back to studying for math (you already are; I can see my Pup!). – AB

Question: I have a very, very dear friend – one of “my” former students, even though she did not live with me – from Damascus. Too dangerous to ask her outright what is happening? I have so little time these days – I get Japanese accounts from Kalima and WTS (and Cher, even if it’s not the first hand I crave), and I rely on you alone for the African/middle east issues. I can’t begin to tell you how very much I appreciate all your hard work and patience with us.

Khirad, Let me thank you once more for the work and effort you put into these series. AlphaPup is so impressed; you use many of the same sources as he does, and trust me, he is in the know as well. So kudos on your work and your research.

Did you ever read the book Horse Soldiers by Douglas Stanton? Having a minute to read some of your other posts makes me think back to that book. Before I read it, I totally and completely opposed and abhored the concept of “Special Forces”. After reading it, I thought “Damn! Why don’t we do this more often?”

Seriously – give it a read if you ever find the time. I would so love to discuss it with you!

Also, write AdLib and get my email. I’ll send him a request to provide it for you. That way, we can share books etc without too much ado. I’d also love it if you and the Pup could also write; I can provide his email to you once I hear from you directly.

I Never Saw The Temple…..

Can’t edit – needed to. I do that because they also believe in Jesus. It’s not that I think they don’t, or that I think of myself as a typical Christian. I’m not. I’m pretty open minded and embracing of ALL beliefs – great on ya, if it floats your boat. I just don’t like anyone telling me how or what to believe. Period.

Hey Abby: I used to do the same. Now I like to open the door, listen to them for a minute or two, and then tell them: “Sorry, but i believe in Jesus.” And then I shut the door. It confuses them terribly, and only wastes a few minutes of my time!

jkkFL Sorry – checked out for dinner. Guess we should take this to TOOT, but I need to do some work tonight, so can’t be much company. I LOVE DING DARLING. Captiva is the best. I’ll start a note to you on TOOT in the next day or two and we can continue.

DAVID: when I die, I want to be in Old Town Naples for all eternity. I will ask God on His next blog what I can do to make this happen. I’m thinking we will get there sometime next year; right now, we are living with one of my former “kids” – the Alpha Pup – back from Afghanistan and now in college. There is SO MUCH to show him – Yellowstone, Colorado, California, Seattle, New Orleans, Naples/Sanibel/Captiva. He is so eager to see more – right now, it’s the bus stop and college and home. But soon!

I just can’t compete. A jealousy thing. We had the HUGE (BPesque) oil spill in the late 1970s and ran around w/ “Texans have tar balls” tee shirts. Funny at the time, sad nowdays.

I ABSOLUTELY adore Naples. Best vacations of our lives there. Are you in Marco? Ft. Meyers? (sorry – not trying to stalk you)
