Time Out for O/T – Vol. 18

Sue, it is a lovely home. I predict that you will be very, very happy here for a long time – unless you are off snorkeling in the Caribbean, where you (and me) might be a little happier!

We left our single family older home in a most desirable neighborhood, moved to a townhome 2.1 miles away, and could NOT be happier. We sit and just say: Aren’t we LUCKY?

I’m so happy for you both! Enjoy.

It’s his ATTITUDE, not his heritage, that screams “Godfarter” to me. I can’t even look at the Supremes photo – all the front row guys have hands on lap. Antonin has one hand on the lap, another pointing to his Netherlands region. Ugh. I see the photo and I wonder: What is that LEFT hand doing?????????

Sue: Canada is their only option, as anywhere south doesn’t have English as the primary language, and the rest is the “old europe” or again language barriers. They barely speak English, and not always correctly. Asking them to learn another language is akin to trying to teach pigs to fly.

I truly, truly, truly despise the “man” (human hairball is what I prefer to call him). He is smarmy to the “nth” degree. He thinks he is charming and persuasive. He is greasy and huge and mean. My only hope is that he will one day see himself as he truly is, and not imagine himself as Al Pacino. He’s Nick Nolte on arrest day.

Bito: You know better than most (through doing your “homework” reading) about the concept of acid in young girls faces via the Taliban. Thank Gulbuddin Hekmytar for that one – he started the tradition of splashing acid on women in the 1960s at Kabul University when he saw them wearing clothes he did not like. And now this asshat says this, and there is NOT a huge public outcry?

We have met the Taliban, and they are us.

BTW, Baby Girl is home in AFG for the summer. She wrote that she cried all the way from the airport to her sister’s home. It’s unclear whether or not she can even go HOME to her village. But soon enough she will be here, and God willing, so will my others from AFG and my ones from Syria. It’s a tense summer for me, and I probably won’t get political until the chirren are back and safe. These days, I’m a Planetary lurker and not much more. But this comment has me incensed.

CL: Are there studies and published statistics about the percentage of Catholic vs. non-Catholic employees at the non-Church Catholic institutions? Let’s say – for the sake of the argument – that a university or charity employs 70% non Catholic and 30% Catholic employees. Does not the larger group then “matter”? Whenever a small group forces moral decisions on a larger group, it reminds me of the Taliban. My girls are now “home” in AFG and forced to wear burqas and be accompanied by males if they leave their homes, because the Taliban decided it should be so. I see little difference between them and the church, said as it is to say.

I wish the sisters would rise up – Joan Chittister, Helen Prejean and the others – and say “go BACK to hell, Bishops”. I’d even join a woman run Catholic church. My dear Mother Superior Yolanda would look positively stunning in the red shoes and mitres!

Hope to see you for a few at VP, but I’m totally fried. If I’m typing and resort to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, you’ll know why. But at least all 30 boxes of books are now in my beautiful bookcase, and I had a very satisfying 30+ hours with the Baby Girl. See you later (maybe).

I spent the day unpacking 30 boxes of books. The BEST one was the Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) and it’s “discovered” art – all bad. this surely is MOBA quality. I only wish I had the time to caption it for the art critics – someone? AdLib? Kes? Sally? Use some legit terms to show the use of the color ‘greige’ which seems to be predominant.

Off to airport to get Baby Girl. She goes back to AFG on 5/23, and is coming to see us before she goes. We hope to have her back here by August, so she can start school in PA. It’s stormy here – all greige and stuff with lightening. The Blov is driving me, since I tend to freak at lightening and let go of the wheel and cover my eyes. Good for no one…..

Now come up with some critiques worthwhile of a MOBA quality painting! Go Team Planet!

Sue, why don’t you say what you really feel? It’s a bidness to these folks, not a responsibility. Pure and simple. “If it bleeds, it leads” was the old motto down here. If no problem exists, you must create one.

News vacations are great and needed things. I simply shut it all down and walk away for a few weeks. When I return, I come here first. Helps.

Hope you had fun in Napa.

I watch Turner Classic Movies, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert and HGTV to quiet the nerves and give the brain a break.

I have no compulsion in using organic pest control services (who always took great care to leave my big garden weaver spiders safe and sound) to get ’em, but I personally can’t kill them. Now if they bit me, they would be squished. Only those things that bite……..

Very cute, Kes! The only two things I will kill without conscious thought are fleas and mosquitos. All else (including roaches) I will capture and release away from where I am. But anything that bites me, dies. It’s that simple. The Blov calls it “your break from Buddhism”. I call it revenge.
