We just got back from our 6000 mile trip. We made a concerted effort – and a radical decision – to not spend any more money than we absolutely HAD to in ANY red state. We spent the nights in Ohio (swing), New York, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We bought ZERO gas in New Hampshire, and only 1 cup of McD’s coffee (so I could pee). Same for Virginia, not knowing how they would go. I will go AND stay in the future, but not in North OR South Carolina. I will NOT go back to Florida until they change. I will NOT go back to LA for the same reason. I will NOT spend the night in AZ. The only exceptions: Tennessee, because it is where my lovely friends are (but I stay for free and only spend $$ on gas/food), and one night at a cheap hotel in AR (can’t drive straight through any more). Texas is my state, so I stay and fight. I stand with Julian and Joaquin, with Mike Villarreal, with Phil Hardberger and our few and precious others from a national level. But I made a Grover like pledge to not spend any more money than necessary (see two exceptions above) in ANY red state that is not my own. Anyone else want to join me??
