Your point is right on the money!

America is in the same category of Iran and Iraq BECAUSE we still have a death penalty, the only industrialized democracy to have one.

No, I won’t be protesting if KSM is put to death but I don’t agree with it.

As you say, if we are trying to distinguish ourselves as civilized, having official state sanctioned killings ain’t the way to go.

I totally understand and have the same feelings about wanting the human monsters out there to be taken out, if anyone in my family was attacked, you know I would want blood.

But blood rage aside, I think it is a natural but destructive instinct with in us that just wants to kill, it’s more primal.

I think we need to fight that impulse if as a people, we want to move forward. The problem is, you can’t have a society that says no one has the right to take another’s life and have a death penalty.

Tonight’s discussion was very interesting when discussing the death penalty and Osama. Though I would want him dead if he’s not already, I wouldn’t favor giving him the death penalty, life in prison instead.

They’re referring to it as the target date. These kinds of things always take a while to implement and typically, longer than planned.

There is a possibility it doesn’t even happen by 2014.

But in 2010, the Repubs will have a built in argument, “Are you better off now than before the Dems passed a government takeover of health care?”
