50 Ways To Leave Your Blogger

That was something I did like from there. It was also a quick way to let someone know, you appreciated their comment, without responding. Sometimes, a response wasn’t necessary but you still wanted to acknowledge the post.

It makes sense in a Machiavellian sort of way. While sometimes I “see it” I always think…”nah…that’s just too evil, to contemplate”…sadly or not sadly, depending on how you look at it, my conscience gets the best of me!

I am the reverse of some on the far right…I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and (wrongly, I may add) make the assumption that everyone is basically good and have good intentions at heart. (deep down I know that’s not true…but I would rather be this way than assume everyone is out to get me!)

I’m still new here, so I can’t really comment on the level of discourse.

But I do know for myself, I’m pragmatic, with very liberal leanings. HOWEVER, I tend to see both sides of the issue and sometimes, much to my chagrin or to the chagrin of others, I don’t tow a party line. It depends on the subject and the circumstances of the situation.

SO I’m thinking there are going to be times that we have lively debates, but hopefully it will be in a more positive manner. It seems the atmosphere here, lends itself to REAL conversation. Just the ability to post over 250 words makes it easier to express yourself properly. Sometimes the 250 word limit, made REAL expression difficult, as you didn’t have the space to really explain yourself.

Dang…I never thought of that…but doesn’t surprise me they would stoop to such levels.

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:18 am

How cool is that?

Hehehehe….:)

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:17 am

ME too! I’m still mad at them!

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:05 am

Indeed. The whole thing was so frustrating.

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:05 am

Exactly!

I don’t understand why they didn’t understand how important the last election actually was!

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:04 am

Same here!

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 10:03 am

They still haven’t sent me an email that they acknowledged my leaving. Even though it says my profile has been removed on the site itself.

I know right! πŸ™‚

WE can actually POST in adult language if the need arises.

Hi Grardini! Nice to see you.

YOU can actually say bullshit here. πŸ™‚

I MUST say this ability to post more than 250 words at a time is LOVELY. Sometimes 250 words just doesn’t cut it!

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 9, 2011 @ 8:19 am

Hi hokey…nice to see you.

I knew she was originally a Republican. I remember that I couldn’t stand her at one time, when I would see her on TV…but I had hoped she had seen the light. She showed her true colors over the last couple of years.

Especially the last 18 months…it was brutal the amount of negativity expressed on anything Obama and what little REAL criticism was allowed to be levied against many from the right.

I’ld been suspicious for awhile, but the Reagan thing proved it for me.

I know alot of people WILL go back…I’m not one of them. She lost me for good.

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 8, 2011 @ 8:08 pm

LOL!

It does look that way. I was never banned. However the last couple of months, even the most innocuous posts were being deleted for no apparent reason. It was really annoying to say the least.

95% of the time, I was very nice to everyone over there, maybe I got a little passionate, but that was usually the extent. I usually stayed on topic (unless we were kidding around) and other than a couple of VERY annoying posters whom I just clashed with, I never had a real problem with anyone there. SO I personally wasn’t targeted.

But I did not appreciate the deletions of comments, and not just my own. For the longest time, whenever I caught a deleted comment that I thought was wrongly deleted, even if was a poster I did’t care for, I would try and repost it for them…One thing I can’t stand is hypocrisy OR suppression of legitimate commentary. THAT got to me and THAT was why I left.

Funny, it was a Reagan thread that led to my deleting myself. I have no patience for the deifying of that man and I was very displeased that HP was joining in the love fest for Reagan and moderating and deleting posts which referred to the truth about him.

WOW…that takes all the fun out of it!

Sorry Kalima that you didn’t get the satisfaction of deleting yourself. πŸ™

Exactly!

I’m in!

I used to go there everyday, flipping back and forth while working on my papers. IT was a nice diversion from my school work or sometimes it helped me think through what I was working on.

I had over 55000 comments. I was obviously a loyal user. BUT due to the shenanigans with the moderation and deletion of comments (WHICH made my blood boil…even when they weren’t MY own comments being deleted) I now refuse to even give one click onto the site. I’m like that though. I give every business entity 3 strikes. If they push it past 3 strikes, I don’t go back unless they DRASTICALLY change their treatment of customers.

I would have to hear for a long period that things have improved or I want ever go back.

Interesting.

» Posted By Abbyrose86 On February 8, 2011 @ 4:44 pm

No kidding. Sometimes you really had to put the thinking cap on to determine what someone was saying! OR read between the lines.

So true.

I like the fact we can use any words we want. One of my biggest pet peeves over at HP was that just because a particular word was used, didn’t mean it was being used in a negative or degrading manner.

I found that very frustrating. Context was lost with those silly word filters. I understand the desire to keep the conversation PG..but it was BEYOND g rated sometimes.

I too like the ability to edit. Nice feature.

There were aspects of the fan thing and the fave count, I did like because it gave you more of sense of how your thoughts were coming across.

Sometimes, I didn’t feel like commenting to a particular persons comment or felt their comment was just great but didn’t feel a need to add something…so fanning or faving the comment, was a simple way to let the person know you appreciated their comment.

I can see what you mean though, it could keep you from being completely frank sometimes.

Yep…and ignorant and ORANGE….as well as many other adult words!

It’s nice to be treated like an adult again. πŸ™‚

They seem to be cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Sad.

AND you were the voice of being reasonable about all this the last 2 days…ingrates.

Excellent questions.

What I like:

Good information, editorials and EASE of posting. EASE of posting is very important. It shouldn’t be a struggle or exceptionally difficult to state an opinion. In addition, user friendly. I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to use the site. Nice soft colors and appropriate fonts helps. NOT overdone.

What turns me off:

OVERMODERATION!!!!!! Suppression of ideas. TOO much gooblygook on the site…ie. too much fluff and stuff. Too fancy of fonts and glaring colors. Difficulty posting. TOO much going on on the front page where it’s hard to find how to post.

I hope that helped.
