I want to be Empress….I’ve always had a bit of admiration for Catherine the Great. She was rather a daring woman….and how she handled taking over…was rather intriguing. She got rid of an asshole husband and took over as ruler at the SAME time….that was rather a daring move, especially for a woman at the time.

I saw it too. I kept saying that whole premise didn’t make sense. TOO many houses were on the market and many more being built…the supply/demand thing was out of whack.

BUT those with a vested interest in it continuing, made sure they got every last drop!

I agree, I blame the powers that be for the mess…and the pandering to the worst in human nature as a way to hide what was really going on with wages and income inequality.

Exactly! I’ve seen little being written about these two EXTREMELY important and STILL VERY relevant subjects, as of late!

WE can’t forget the millions of Americans who are struggling with these two major issues…foreclosures and unemployment/underemployment.

The wealth inequities that both situations cause are at the heart of our economic woes…we can’t allow these subjects to be cast aside by the MSM>

Thanks Adlib…I’m a little pissed off today, regarding what is going on with the Unions, the desire of the GOP to bust any and all strides that average folk have made at improving their own lots in life and quite frankly I’m tired of all the games of corporate America…so I decided to be a thorn in their side, albeit a small one, and lend a voice to issues that they have CREATED!

I love how you phrased that…the Corporate dream. WHAT an apt description of what has transpired.

The corporations even took away our dreams…how utterly sad!

WE do need to stand up and get out there and take the Egyptians Example…peaceful revolution to economic inequities fostered upon us by the Corporate oligarchs.

I think we should be protesting on WALL STREET and in front of the KOCK brothers….offices…as well as at every entrenched corporate entity who has created this mess…in addition TO Washington.

Fabulously well said CL. My goodness a woman after my own heart!

I was bitching about Reaganomics since the 80’s…gawd I hated everything that man stood for.

Don’t even get me started on the global trade issues and the give aways to the corporate elite..I might be here for awhile!

I keep hoping that more and more people are gaining awareness and are soon going to demand some changes…or heads will roll. I must say, I have my moments…when I don’t just mean that metaphorically. There are a few very influential elite billionaires,that I wouldn’t necessarily shed a tear for, if they were no longer with us.

Sadly, as with any article, I couldn’t get in to everything…and just went from one angle, but you brought up so many of the other factors…it’s fantastic!

As to the figures, I used data from the BLS website and not from any news reports. Although, maybe I did use the wrong table, when I typed my article…that is possible! 🙂

However, that still isn’t much of a drop…not really. And the U6 rate is still more accurate…as it was back in the 80’s as well.

But the situation is more complicated today than it was in the 80’s as all the other variables (a global economy, technology and other factors ) were not yet in the mix in the 80’s.

I don’t blame the current administration, for the numbers…I blame our society and our messed up ideas of economics for these problems.

In addition, I do think MORE could be done to reign in the excesses of corporate malfeasance, but sadly there is no political will to tackle those issues. SO how to get it done?

YOU have brought up some fabulous issues with the concept of outsourcing…I too have seen some less than appropriate rationales for outsourcing services. MUCH of it didn’t pass the smell test, and if you followed the money trail…there was a reason it stunk!

Excellent comment and great points there KQ. I too thought the threshold of 250K was the wrong argument and caused issues. It should have been framed differently, just as you suggest.
