I was a chubby kid and I was also usually much taller than everyone else, even in my own age group. I don’t remember them living it up on their “2 month vacations”. Don’t remember it being 2 months either. For me and other students it was. They had 2 weeks each month they had to go back to the school for day long meetings and other things. They go back a week or so earlier too to get things ready. So that’s at least a month gone right there. My grandma especially worked hard. She was a kindergarten teacher and since the school kept slashing it’s budge she wound up buying all the supplies for her children. All the crayons, pencils, markers, puzzles, activities, and so on. She was happy to do it. She loved her kids and knew not every parent had it as well as her. They didn’t make a ton but we lived comfortably. My grandpa also drove a bus as well as teaching Geometry. I take all these attacks on teachers personally. Many other members of my family went into teaching. We are a family of teachers. Very good ones. And their students are proof of it. There are A LOT of things wrong with this country but teachers aren’t one of them. They’re not even on the list.
