Evening Ad. How bout that Martin O’Malley
sillylittleme
Hey slm!
AdLib 7 days ago
You mean his complaint about the debates being rigged?
AdLib 7 days ago
Uh ya, Debbie was a bit peeved.
sillylittleme
Debbie helped rig it for Hillary.
AdLib 7 days ago
You mean trying to rig it for her
sillylittleme
I can hardly watch Hillary anymore. What she says, I almost usually agree with but her persona and tone is so elitist and disingenuous, so rehearsed and calulated.
AdLib 7 days ago
Que pasa folks?
KillgoreTrout
Ad and that is why she would stink as Pres
sillylittleme
It was rigged, only 5 or 6 debates?
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey KT
sillylittleme
Hey KT!
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey Ad and slm. How goes it?
KillgoreTrout
All the MSM drones are whining that Biden shouldn’t get in because there’s no constituency for him…we haven’t even seen any debates yet to compare them. Obama was at 18% at this point.
AdLib 7 days ago
Doing fine, KT, and you?
AdLib 7 days ago
Can’t complain. I don’t know if Biden actually wants to run.
KillgoreTrout
Hi Glenn, Harleigh
sillylittleme
Hey glenn and Harleigh.
KillgoreTrout
And once again, Queen Hillary is announcing she already has 25% of the delegates needed via superdelegates? Before a single primary? Here goes the Queen of Entitlement again, showing an unhealthy disrespect for democracy. Russia has “elections” like this.
AdLib 7 days ago
Biden doesn’t want to run. He’d be in it by now.
sillylittleme
Ad – Bernie got his first superdelegate today…
sillylittleme
slm – Maybe you’re right, he sure is exploring it now, though.
AdLib 7 days ago
I heard that a couple of Hillary money bundlers are for profit prison corps. Anybody else hear this?
KillgoreTrout
Hey everyone. How is everyone tonight?
glenn
slm – Good but superdelegates are an establishment gimmick to weight primaries towards their candidates, possibly thwarting the majority of Dem voters.
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad and SLM–I’m confused. Have there been Democratic party debates? What have I missed?
glenn
hi folks! good to see everyone tonite
Harleigh
Hey glenn!
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad – the sad part is that the Ds have been exposed as the same rotten pretenders as the Rs. How they think this will be the same as any other election makes me want to require the UN to oversee our elections…
sillylittleme
What’s up, Harleigh?!
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad – that
sillylittleme
s why he laughed it off…
sillylittleme
Harleigh – just smoking for the first time today, so excuse me for bogarting it all
sillylittleme
glenn – No, Hillary announced today that due to backroom deals, she already has 25% of the delegates she needs to win the primary by getting superdelegates to commit to her. This is how she tried to steal the election against Obama.
AdLib 7 days ago
waitin To see what tropical storm Erika is gonna do to my first day at a new job Monday.
Harleigh
slm – Of course! Still, that’s one that Hillary didn’t get.
AdLib 7 days ago
Harleigh, you’re in FL?
AdLib 7 days ago
I don’t think Hillary ever thought that Bernie would be so popular. Isn’t he ahead in the polls now?
KillgoreTrout
Ad–okay, so I did miss that. Are these committments in writing? Do they actually have to “vote” for her at the convention?
glenn
Ft Lauderdale, 5 miles west of the beach.
Harleigh
Ad – and how did it work out last time
sillylittleme
KT – Bernie is ahead in NH but behind Hillary in IA and nationally. Still, there’s a lot of time between now and the primaries.
AdLib 7 days ago
Harleigh–just talked to my nephew in Stuart (actually Port Salerno, if you’re familiar with that area) and he says the storm is probably going to go up the west coast–where my sister lives. How about you? And, what’s the new job?
glenn
When ARE the primaries anyhow?
KillgoreTrout
Harleigh–oops I was typing when you replied to Ad.
glenn
Harleigh–anywhere near Westin?
glenn
glenn – Superdelegates are party officials and politicians in the DNC. They can pledge their vote to Hillary now and many have, no doubt being threatened and cajoled to do so before any other candidate is in a position to solicit them. I really don’t like the Clintons, they are mainly dedicated to getting what they want, however they can.
AdLib 7 days ago
KT – first one is January NY, NH, IA
sillylittleme
I am not getting worked up this far in advance of the electios. I am enjoying the shit out of the RWNJ feasing on each other as they stampede to the cliff on the right. LOL
Harleigh
Thanks, slm.
KillgoreTrout
Howdy….ad….I could not get to Vox from the Front Page. I had to go to the Live Events Page and it popped up. Could just be me but I figured you should know.
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh – From what I saw earlier, the storm is supposed to drop down from hurricane status to tropical storm before it hits FL.
AdLib 7 days ago
Thanks Murph, will check it out!
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad–I’m with you. I’m just really tired of the Clintons and all their “baggage”. I’m not saying I would vote for ANY republican over Hillary, should she get the nomination, but I’d much rather vote for Bernie, or even O’Malley. And, I understand that a lot of the stuff about Hillary is exaggerated or even made up, but damn, it stinks to have to listen to it all the time.
glenn
Trump is having a fundraiser in MA today at a well-known car dealership owner’s home. That man is about to lose a lot of business. He too inherited his father’s wildly successful business. So he and Trump have that in common
sillylittleme
Hey Murph, how goes it?
glenn
Hey Murph
sillylittleme
Hi glenn and slm
MurphTheSurf3
glenn, I feel the same way about Trump too. I’m already sick of seeing that stupid face.
KillgoreTrout
Glenn – so agree…
sillylittleme
glenn – No matter what, I will vote for the Dem nom for President whoever it is. But if it is Hillary, I will be far from enthusiastic about it. I would instead spend my energy exposing the disaster the Repub nom would be as opposed to extolling the virtues of a Hillary Presidency.
AdLib 7 days ago
So…is anyone watching the palindora box of lunacy interviewing the tRump tonight on conservative tv? Whatever that is…I’m afraid my tv would explode if I turned it to “conservative tv”.
glenn
KT–OMG, if the press would just quit hanging onto trump’s every word, gesture, and fart, I’d be a happy woman!
glenn
I sure do hope Trump could win the GOP nom, he will be the new Goldwater for the Repubs and help them lose big in Congress as well as the WH.
AdLib 7 days ago
Donald Trump-Orange is the New Black!
KillgoreTrout
KT–Donald tRump–orange is the new idiocy!
glenn
KT – Trump: Unhinged is the new black.
AdLib 7 days ago
There was a sign at the end of the driveway that stated that checks were to be made out to Trump’s campaign, if the guest brought cash, they were to have it ready.
sillylittleme
And how about Jebby polling now at 7%?! That is so funny!!! He’s got to be crapping in his Bush diapers!
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad, KT – Trump is the impetus for Idiocracy…
sillylittleme
SLM–I thought the tRump didn’t need anyone else’s money; he has so much of his own!
glenn
It’s never a good idea to have the worst president in US history to help you campaign. Them bush boys just ain’t too smart.
KillgoreTrout
Glenn – HUGE fundraiser in MA this afternoon. I don
sillylittleme
KT–and the worst FEMA director ever at your side when “bragging” about how well you handled hurricanes when you were governor of FL!
glenn
t think there are enough RWNJs in MA to raise much
sillylittleme
KT – them Bush boys are inbred…
sillylittleme
I met someone last week who has worked with Hillary several times in her life. Here is what she told the group I was in. Hillary is a very, very, very serious person. She has a softness with family and her closest friends but she is not a naturally “friendly” person. She is not a person at ease in large gatherings. She loves to work. She loves to get the job done and finds glad handing a sad diversion. Hillary is not a happy campaigner but she is a very happy office holder. It has helped me “get” her a bit more. But it also means that if she is President she will probably be no better at schmoozing than Obama is.
MurphTheSurf3
True glenn. Brownie is still not doing a “Heck of a job.”
KillgoreTrout
Eriika is getting ripped up but could reform in open water. Weston is 10 miles west of me and stuart is north. it will probably be a very wet rain event.
Harleigh
Harleigh – keep your pot dry!!!
sillylittleme
SLM–oh well, it shouldn’t matter if tRump doesn’t raise much money, right?
glenn
George has some chutzpah taking bows in New Orleans today…..
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – not convincing, I think that person was being too kind
sillylittleme
Hey Sabreen
sillylittleme
Hello Planeteers!
Sabreen60
Murph – I don
sillylittleme
Murph – What you describe doesn’t really conflict with my perception of her. Just that what she will work hard at are interests that conflict with most Progressives’ interests and she has a serious problem with credibility.
AdLib 7 days ago
Murph–interesting about Hillary. Image is everything nowadays, unfortunately.
glenn
t get why he was there
sillylittleme
SLM…maybe but given her resume I think she know her.
MurphTheSurf3
Hey Sabreen!
AdLib 7 days ago
Hey Sabreen–how are you?
glenn
Good thing for bush that he still has SS protection.
KillgoreTrout
Harleigh – Hoping Erica keeps falling apart!
AdLib 7 days ago
Glenn – the President needs to be able to deal with more than just their homies…
sillylittleme
Murph – how many people do you know that knock their former boss, especially one with pull…
sillylittleme
SLM–agreed.
glenn
Hillary HAS dealt with a lot of foreign leaders. I’ll give her that much. Hearing that the for profit prison industries are backing her makes me sick though.
KillgoreTrout
Ad- seconded, Harleigh stay safe (and keep your pot dry)
sillylittleme
And she has the nerve to talk about “mass incarceration?”
KillgoreTrout
KT–I saw an article–just skimmed it–that says that BLM interrupted one of her events to encourage her to cut all ties with for-profit prisons. Don’t know what her response was, though.
glenn
Hiya glenn, slm everyone. I’m recovering slow buy steady. I’m not to stay long, but I missed you guys
Sabreen60
Hillary has been mostly falsely badmouthed since 1992. Benghazi and emailgate are just the latest examples.
Harleigh
Did you see Bush (George W.) claiming that his memories of Katrina was all good stuff?! People helping out and all that? Not the 3 days it took for help to come, his going on vacation after his flyover and “Good Job Brownie”? Disgusting, I could hardly watch that bastard. And what has he done in his post-Presidency compared to Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton? Paint pictures of himself in the bathtub while the others have helped many people around the world?
AdLib 7 days ago
SLM…worked with, not for…..this person is a senior Dem.
MurphTheSurf3
KT – that is the one thing that will lose her a good portion of the AA vote that she thinks she has in the bag…
sillylittleme
Yep.
KillgoreTrout
Sabreen–glad to hear you’re recovering, even if it is slowly. Try to take it easy to keep that recovery going!
glenn
Hey Sabreen.
KillgoreTrout
Sabreen – well you made it through, so that’s a start. give yourself time to recover.
sillylittleme
As long as you get better Sabreen….
Harleigh
Sabreen – So glad to hear that you’re healing well!
AdLib 7 days ago
Sabreen, I didn’t know you were ill. Glad to see you on the mend.
KillgoreTrout
Ad–I think it was obscene (and yes, I mean that word) that gwb had the nerve to show his face in NOLA!
glenn
Harleigh – the email thing is such BS. They changed the law after she left SoS.
sillylittleme
Every accusation the repukes have directed at her are a bullshit.
Harleigh
SLM–ever since Bill ran for prez the first time and Hillary said she wasn’t going to stay home and bake cookies, the cons have had it in for her.
glenn
glenn, like Michelle’s garden. The nerve of the woman.
KillgoreTrout
I watched Trump in Massachusetts this evening….he promises without end and his crowds demand nothing of him than that he satisfy their hunger for an angry spokesman who fits their expectation of what a leader looks like. All bravado and no bothersome particulars.
MurphTheSurf3
KT- I wasn’t actually ill. But had to have a hiatal hernia the size of Mt. Everest repaired.
Sabreen60
Harleigh – Both things are true. The RW has dishonestly attacked Hillary and Bill with lies and phony accusations non-stop. At the same time, Bill and Hillary have been allies of Wall Street, corporations, and many international interests that oppose what’s best for most Americans. Hillary is a very practiced politician, almost robotic at it, she does however lack a degree of accessability, you can’t penetrate her protective emotional shield to connect with her so she comes off as distant and not genuine.
AdLib 7 days ago
Murph – MA residents are quite POd
sillylittleme
Like Trump refusing to say what Bible verses he likes best. Like he’s ever even opened a bible.
KillgoreTrout
SLM…SAY MORE PLEASE.
MurphTheSurf3
I have confidence enough in her that she will win and do a great job. The repukes candidates are do-nothings. Any of us could do a better job than any of them.
Harleigh
KT–exactly. How dare MIchelle try to show people good eating habits?
glenn
Sabreen – rest, rest and more rest. after that, rest some more.
sillylittleme
Well glenn, you know how us commies are.
KillgoreTrout
KT but Trump is a master at deflection….he says he will not respond because it is personal…..and the evangelicals are willing to accept that because he is saying what they want him to say about what they care about or despise.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph–have you see Kimmel’s “campaign ad” for tRump that’s making the rounds on the net today? Hilarious!
glenn
Glenn….I have…
MurphTheSurf3
Glenn – how dare she use the land to feed people, the shame. these people would have yelled at Dolly Madison for saving the art work…
sillylittleme
True dat Murph. Of course, the Tundra Tart had to defend him on that.
KillgoreTrout
oh Sabreen…. OOOOOWWWWW Don’t chase that pain, just take some drugs and chat…. you”ll be fine. LOL
Harleigh
So what was this dust up I read about on Twitter between Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and O’Malley?
Sabreen60
Sorry Harleigh but President Bernie Sanders has a much nicer sound, not to mention restoring the government to the people…
sillylittleme
KT–The more I visit VOX, the more I am learning (and liking) about you Commies! Maybe we should “switch” to being “socialists” like Bernie!
glenn
Trump says he might have a cabinet position for Palin. Secretary of the Inferior!!
KillgoreTrout
I like Bernie.
Harleigh
Sabeen – O’Malley told DWS off at the DNC Summer Convention, well he just talked about the lack of debates and how it was weak sauce
sillylittleme
glenn, they’re one and the same in the eyes of the teabillies.
KillgoreTrout
I looked to see if I could get that comedy show on my comcast lineup….. nope
Harleigh
Murph–I loved it when the announcer asked, “Why?” and the answer was always, “Because it’s great!”
glenn
Murph – Hence my article on Trump needing imaginary and magical characters to bring any of his “promises” to fruition. It’s all snake oil salesman, “This snake oil I’m selling is the most tremondous ever made! It tastes like rich chocolate, cures cancer, reduces your weight, makes your breasts bigger if you’re a woman or your penis bigger if you’re a man, makes you taller and best of all, makes you rich! Now who wants to buy a bottle of this instead of a low energy drink like Bush Cola?”
AdLib 7 days ago
Harleigh – Finished to RX drugs. I’m not feeling too bad. Nowit’s just that my lungs hurt a little because the hernia had been pressing up againt on and when it was moved the lung partially collapsed.
Sabreen60
Well Ad, Trump should know about big penises. He IS one.
KillgoreTrout

glenn

I can just see it now. Sarah Palin…brain trust!
KillgoreTrout
Sarah speaks through a Salad Shooter into a Mr. Microphone and thinks she’s hi-tech. No translation device is planned.
Harleigh
Well folks, I’m going to relax away from the “puter”. Hope to feel stronger in a week or so. Take care everyone.
Sabreen60
Though I am very critical of Hillary and I think her selfish obsession to keep her emails on her own server so she could keep them hidden was just plain disrespectful to the American people, she didn’t break the law, there is no “there” there and hopefully, the FBI will make a definitive statement that makes it clear there is no criminal wrongdoing here. Being that she has the most likely chance at this point of being the Dem nom, I sure don’t want that hanging over her head forever. But…I do want a fair and legit primary race and would prefer someone else like Bernie, O’Malley or Biden as the nom.
AdLib 7 days ago

I am finding Trump SOOOOOOOOOO boring….an empty kettle, a banging drum who offers only wild dreams and no solutions. He claims we will have the largest military in the world, a wall to wall fix of our infrastructure, AND lower taxes…..how? TRUST ME. I WILL MAKE THE DEAL.

Murph – That goes to my point about the dishonesty and laziness of the MSM to brand Bernie as a liberal mirror image of Trump. Dems LIKE their party’s leaders and politicians for the most part. Bernie is a sitting Senator of many years. Repubs despise their party’s leaders and candidates and favor Trump right now who is a fraud and a snake oil salesman. No comparison. Dems have unity and are having a healthy primary, the GOP is tearing itself to pieces.

Funk – Dems have always been a coalition of different constituencies that often fight among themselves but come the GE, they mostly come together. I don’t see that happening with the GOP. If the estab GOP shoves Jebby on the party, they are not going to rally to the party and turn out to vote. I think the odds of a Dem President rise each week Trump stays strong.

As has been pointed out so many times, repubs complain that government doesn’t work, then get elected, and do their damndest to make it NOT work! We all heard Bobo’s speeches and from Israel’s Mr. Spybassador. They are all liars. It is way past time for AIPAC to be registered as a foreign lobby and to curtail all monetary and military aid to that warmongering theocratic apartheid country/race/religion called Israel. That money could be much better spent on our own people and infrastructure here in whats left of murikkka. Israel is a bigoted, offensive, apartheid country and should no longer receive anything from the US except our contempt and condemnation. No more knee-jerk shielding at the UN for their war crimes either! At least they are only targeting, killing and stealing from heathen Muslims to prevent any peaceful 2 state solution, right? Israeli Prime Minister Bobo Naziyahu is just another war criminal and his Lukid party in Israel sucks just like the baggers here in murikkka. Naziyahu has been saying that Iran is a year from having a nuke for 25 YEARS now! Either they now have dozens of nukes or Bobo has been lying for all these years.

SLM–it’s like a “catch 22”; we don’t know how many they have because they won’t tell, and as non-signatories to the agreement, we can’t “force” them to “tell”. Murph – My point was and is, Hillary tried in 2008 to kick over the table of democracy and win the nom by overriding Obama’s wins with backroom deals with Superdelegates. She did it in 2008 and she is using Superdelegates this year to scare off Biden and convince voters that she’s the inevitable winner anyway, before a single vote has been cast. Unprincipled in my book.

Murph – Right, Obama beat her to the punch though by going after the smaller and caucus states where he focused on winning local pols over. The fact that she failed in her attempt to subvert the election process with the superdelegates overriding it, doesn’t change that it was her plan to do so once she realized she was losing the electoral battle.

Murph – Yes, Obama beat her in the delegate count in the end but again, my point was that Hillary tried to beat him using Superdelegates to erase his advantage over her in electoral delegates. She failed but she did try to do so. You’re not disputing that, right?
AdLib 7 days ago
You can in some older posts I wrote in relation to MMT. But I’ll be actively working on it over the next several months in all social media platforms. That is probably the single biggest trick the GOP ever pulled over on the Democratic Party is getting them to be the party of declining deficits and not only that but being proud of it.

That’s actually very satisfying, cleaning out the old then shopping for the new! My daughter plays softball on a travel team so a little practice with her new team this weekend is all that’s on the books so far.
AdLib 7 days ago
Well that sounds like fun. I envy your out of door activity compared to my likely stuck indoors for hours activity.
sillylittleme
I always think about this, if it wasn’t Trump, it would eventually have been someone else. The Tea Party has been led down this pathas they’ve been used, eventually, the tail starts wagging the dog in these kinds of situations. We need the Repubs to implode by picking a truly unelectable candidate. This will be for the best, in the end.
AdLib 7 days ago
I still suspect he’s pulling a trick somehow. Who the joke is on remains to be seen…
sillylittleme
This is history repeating itself. The establishment Repubs whipped up their base and got Goldwater who destroyed their party for many years. Now, it’s Trumps turn to play that role (or at least damage Jeb and the others so whoever wins the nom is weakened and trashed).
AdLib 7 days ago
Yes but to what end? What about the conservadems? Are they gonna reform a moderate republican party?
sillylittleme
This IS the trick! Taking over one of our two political parties and maybe even being the Repub candidate against a Dem for the Presidency? He doesn’t have respect for our democracy, mit’s just a cynical game he thinks he can win now. Good.
AdLib 7 days ago
I agree it is long past time to destroy the republicans they are such a cancer
sillylittleme
If humanity survives, they will be studying this era for a long time to come
sillylittleme
I wonder what will happen if the establishment Repubs force Jeb on their core voters. Might they leave and form a third party? Or might they take over the GOP more fully and force the establishment Repubs to start up their own party? Or will both act like they’re in War of the Roses and both refuse to move out of the GOP, staying locked in combat from now on? Seems like it will have to be one of those three options. And in any case, their party is profoundly damaged.
AdLib 7 days ago
Humanity will survive, it will just move a bit inland.
AdLib 7 days ago
If I was Reince Preibus, I’d resign and let them elect someone else.
sillylittleme
But who else would hire a total failure and wimp named Preibus?
AdLib 7 days ago

If only Dems could win back control over state legislatures by 2020 and all the gerrymandering could be reversed, mother Repubs could be locked out of national office until they regain some sanity.
AdLib 7 days ago
Damn spellcheck!
AdLib 7 days ago
Gerrymandering will be reversed in 2020. I assumed you meant MFers. LOL
sillylittleme
We need all able bodies to the voting booth this year and two years later.
sillylittleme
Who is Lawrence Lessig? I keep meaning to ask you that?
sillylittleme
I was being a bit flippant but yes, there will be some severe challenges in the upcoming decades that will change the way and the location where people live but ultimately, human beings are resilient and necessity is the mother of invention. There will be a lot of suffering and death, especially in third world nations as climate change reduces available food and potable water. Some horrible times lay ahead that the world shouldn’t have to go through but greed has caused it. Humanity will survive but there will be some great costs.
AdLib 7 days ago
I just think it isn’t as rosy a picture as you think. The scientific community is starting to get loud…
sillylittleme
Heh! Maybe I did mean MFers!
AdLib 7 days ago
So Lessig? Any clue?
sillylittleme
Lessig is a noted academic who has worked in DC, for SCOTUS judges and as a Constitutional and rights scholar. Why?
AdLib 7 days ago
Is he running for president? Or is he working to get Citizens’ United overturned?
sillylittleme
Both? I heard he discussed running but don’t know if he filed to run. He is an opponent of CU.
AdLib 7 days ago
Oh, I keep seeing people talk about him, I was just wondering.
sillylittleme
My perception of him is very positive.
AdLib 7 days ago
Would he make a good president?
sillylittleme
Maybe. He’s a very bright Constitutional scholar like Obama. Don’t know that he has the charisma to win over voters.
AdLib 7 days ago
I did sign up a while ago when he started a campaign against CU, I just didn’t realize that he was running. Just wondered whether he was gaining any traction and if he had more than one issue to offer the public.
sillylittleme
I don’t think he has any base constituency though. Or a great deal of money. So, I don’t think he would stand much of a shot against Hillary or Bernie…or Biden.
AdLib 7 days ago
Why do you think Biden is taking so long to decide whether to get in or not
sillylittleme
Because it’s a big gamble. If Hillary makes more missteps, she could trend down and he or Bernie could ascend. But if this is the low point for Hillary and she levels out and/or rises, he could be left looking like a failure that no one wanted and end his political career on that note.
AdLib 7 days ago
Then why even think about it. If he knows that he is being set up to fail why take the risk?
sillylittleme
Ok it’s just about one here. So I will say adieu. Have a great week Ad and have fun hanging with your daughter and her teammates.
sillylittleme
Well, many Dems are worried that Hillary could get knocked out during the primary and according to recent polls, Biden would be their second choice. Interestingly, Bernie supporters also said Biden would be their second choice. So, there are possible paths for him, they’re just not likely. They’re a gamble and he has to worry about going out of politics as VP or a losing candidate.
AdLib 7 days ago
Sleep well, slm! Have a relaxing, sorting out weekend!
