Buuuurp! (‘scuse me!)
pinkpantheroz
Quite a nice meal, eh?
adlib7 days ago
A tad too warm here for turkey, but we did have nice salads!
pinkpantheroz
It’s never too hot for turkey! Try a turkey milkshake!
adlib7 days ago
I don’t think so, Tim!
pinkpantheroz
Turkey wine cooler?
adlib7 days ago
BRB getting some of that! actually a coffee!
pinkpantheroz
Much better!
adlib7 days ago
So who went Black Friday shopping today?
adlib7 days ago
Hey Ad, no shopping today. Cleam
sillylittleme
ned up from yesterday
sillylittleme
Hey slm! Yep, same here, and chilling out.
adlib7 days ago
It’s chilly in LA?
sillylittleme
I’m really bothered by the Thanksgifing day shopping. With this trend, it will no longer be a holiday or a day with much meaning, just about consumung food and products.
adlib7 days ago
It was pretty warm today, actually. How are things your way?
adlib7 days ago
Totally agree. I usually wait til next weekend when things have calmed down.
sillylittleme
We got a bit of Thanksgiving snow, freezing until Sunday when it goes back into the 50s
sillylittleme
Gives you the best excuse to stay home, warm and cozy.
adlib7 days ago
Exactly!!
sillylittleme
So who cooked?
sillylittleme
I know we’ll finally get a winter here but thanks to Climate Change, not yet!
adlib7 days ago
My wife cooked, daughter helped, I carved, had friends over, a very nice evening.
adlib7 days ago
Did you cook?
adlib7 days ago
Sounds nice. Yes, I cooked for myself and my man and also cooked for my landlord and his sons.
sillylittleme
Two kitchens, two meals, slept like a baby last night.
sillylittleme
Sounds great! You earned that sleep!
adlib7 days ago
Without a doubt.
sillylittleme
Kind of feel like corporations are trying to run over Thanksgiving because it’s not a profit maker for them…until they had Black Friday back over it.
adlib7 days ago
Of course, money is all they care about. What a sad statement about society…
sillylittleme
Yes, what angers me though is that Americans are just blindly embracing this encroachment of shopping and stampeding to stores into T-Day. It’s making retail workers lose this day as a holiday and breaking up family and friends from spending that day together. Pretty awful IMO.
adlib7 days ago
State elections here in Victoria today. Liberal (GOP) incumbents will probably get thrown out by Labor ( dems) as a protest at the Federal Bunch of eejits
pinkpantheroz
Evening Glenn, survive Thanksgiving?
sillylittleme
I’m in a safe GOP seat but I’ll still vote Labor.
pinkpantheroz
PPO – So sounds like the reverse of our election.
adlib7 days ago
PPO – Any restrictions against gerrymandering there?
adlib7 days ago
Evening, Silly, Ad, and PPO. Yes, I did have a nice Thanksgiving. Sounds like yours was nice, also, SLM.
glenn
Ad – seems like we are backwards from the rest of the fully developed democracies…
sillylittleme
Great to hear, glenn!
adlib7 days ago
Yes, ad, but it is only one state, and the gerrymander is alive and kickiing! But the demographics are starting to change, so….. we live in hope.
pinkpantheroz
PPO–your situation sounds like mine. I’m in a red state, but still vote Dem.
glenn
Glenn – I had a lot of fun cooking!!!
sillylittleme
At least we do get a large voting turnout, due to it being compulsory!
pinkpantheroz
PPO – The gerrymandering is so bad here that Repubs won this year even though the demographics have been strongly changing against them. But off year elections cause this.
adlib7 days ago
SLM–good on ya for cooking. Luckily, I rely on my son-in-law and daughter to do most of the cooking nowadays. My son-in-law made baked ziti, as well as turkey and all the trimmings. Lots of leftovers!
glenn
PPO – wish that we had compulsory voting…
sillylittleme
fix that, Ad by making it an honorable duty to vote.
pinkpantheroz
Glenn – yum, nothing better than a man who knows his way around the kitchen…
sillylittleme
PPO – Hard to instill a sense of honor in the apathetic.
adlib7 days ago
SLM, yes it’s really no impost, especially when the elections are held on Saturdays and it only takes a minute or two. Plenty of booths, few queues.
pinkpantheroz
Ad – if it were compulsory, then apathy wouldn’t be tolerated,
sillylittleme
All-I am so pissed off with all those lazy ass Dems who didn’t vote, and I really don’t care what their reasons for not voting were. I’m going to sound like a tbagger here and yell, “I want MY country back!” Rude, disrespectful repubs are talking about NOT inviting the President for the State of the Union address. WTH is wrong with these people? They’re sore losers and even sorer winners!
glenn
Glenn – couldn’t agree more, want MY country back to sanity and sensibility
sillylittleme
slm – I agree, compulsory voting would be the best way to solve that. But Repubs don’t want more people voting, they’ll stand in the way of that happening.
adlib7 days ago
Ad – of course, because they’d never have another seat in any position
sillylittleme
ad, you’re probably right, but couldn’t the US at least vote on a weekend?
pinkpantheroz
Glenn – who do they think will give the SOTU address?
sillylittleme
glenn – What? Some Repubs are saying they don’t want the President giving a SOTU address to Congress?
adlib7 days ago
SLM, David Letterman’s Top Ten!
pinkpantheroz
BRB
pinkpantheroz
SLM–They want the President to give it in writing; they just don’t want him to be able to speak in Congress.
glenn
PPO – even if it was on a weekend, so many people work weekends it wouldn’t alleviate the problem
sillylittleme
Glenn – so they want people to read it?
sillylittleme
glenn – Couldn’t they just put a sign on the Capitol Building saying, “White Presidents Only”?
adlib7 days ago
Ad–you haven’t heard that one? Yes, some repubs are saying that they will NOT invite the President to Congress to give the SOTU address. They want him to put it in writing–in other words, they don’t want to show bipartanship! They just want to show their buffoonery.
glenn
Ad – more like puppet presidents need only apply…
sillylittleme
Glenn – who specifically is pushing this tripe?
sillylittleme
glenn – He’ll be there, they can just not come like the brats they are.
adlib7 days ago
SLM–I guess it’s okay with them if people read it, they just don’t want President Obama in Congress. I’m going to look for the link now.
glenn
Ad – he should lock them out
sillylittleme
glenn – Such blatant racism. The GOP is just one sick enterprise.
From the article in Salon: As best we can tell, its genesis is a Breitbart News column, because of course it is. Breitbart’s Joel Pollak writes that Obama can just turn in his State of the Union on paper and members of Congress can read it into the record:
glenn
Glenn – they’ve obviously completely lost their minds. Sounds like some charges of treason are warrented…
sillylittleme
I don’t see any specific Repubs cited, this could be just a tactic to insult Obama, doesn’t sound substantial.
adlib7 days ago
SLM–There you go! Do you believe those assholes? I usually don’t cuss this much, but I canNOT believe these people. They are such babies and brats as Ad says.
glenn
SLM I tried to copy the whole quote, but it didn’t make it. However, it seems it began with a writer at Breitbart.
glenn
SLM–And…members of Congress can read it into the record. So..if they try this,.does boner get to read it? Will they read it in its entirety without “editorial” comments? Assholes!
glenn
Sad to say we’ve got until after 2020 until the opportunity to change the gerrymandering that assures Repub control of the House. But I think The Senate will be back in Dem hands in 2016.
adlib7 days ago
I’d love if President Obama gave the shortest SOTU speech in history:
pinkpantheroz
They are no longer to be considered adults. I would go further and call them puckered, gaseous assholes
sillylittleme
” The Union is in a state of total meltdown, and it’s all your fault!” End of speech
pinkpantheroz
PPO – he should say the state of the union is crap and especially those who sit before me, tasked with creating laws they instead create chaos.
sillylittleme
SLM–I like the adjectives you added!
glenn
After “You lie!”, Repub SCOTUS members not attending and 3 SOTU rebuttals from the GOP, the Repubs have turned the SOTU into a tainted tradition.
adlib7 days ago
PPO–No, I think he should give the LONGEST speech. Let the puckered, gaseous assholes listen for an hour or two. And, where are the Dems condemning this move? Why isn’t every Democrat in Congress calling out these bastards for this stunt?
glenn
Ad – if we ever have another R president, the Ds should stand as one and moon him/her…
sillylittleme
All–Maybe President Obama should read “Green Eggs and Ham” for his SOTU speech. After all, it “worked” for rafeal cruz, didn’t it?
glenn
SLM–Ooh, I like the way your mind works!
glenn
OBAMA: “The State of the Union is…fucked up. I mean, look at these people who are in Congress. They castrate pigs, get indicted on federal counts, express open racism, sexism and misogyny, I mean come on fellow Americans! This is the best we can do? If so, we are screwed.”
adlib7 days ago
Glenn – he should read the Lorax then announce that Keystone is dead…
Ad – can you imagine if he dressed that way? That would be the headline, not what he said…
sillylittleme
Ad–Definitely he should pull a Bulworth and do rap! Love it!
glenn
Wouldn’t that be cool though!
adlib7 days ago
All – Verizon in MA has dropped the local Fox affiliates because Cox Communications wanted to increase the rates. Suffering Comcast customer here, but its nice to see corporations going at it!!
sillylittleme
SLM, wish everybody dropped FUX
pinkpantheroz
SLM and PPO–As far as I’m concerned, all of the anchors at Fox should be tried for treason.
glenn
PPO – unfortunately they didn’t drop Fox News as that is national and not owned by Cox.
sillylittleme
All – 400,000 customers cut off with just a couple of days notice. Most were upset about losing access to football…
sillylittleme
never having had cable, glenn, I can’t say, but from what I gather elsewhere, you have a point.
pinkpantheroz
PPO–I don’t watch fox, but all you have to do is read on other sites what they say.
glenn
SLM, typical, osn’t it that the upset is over football, but warped news still goes on. sigh
pinkpantheroz
All – bringing back the Fairness Doctrine puts a stop to it all.
sillylittleme
Hey Kalima, are you with us tonight?
glenn
Oops, guess Kalima pushed the wrong key.
glenn
BRB
pinkpantheroz
Glenn – she’s with us in spirit…
sillylittleme
SLM–The puckered, gaseous assholes will never let the Fairness Doctrine become law again. It would put a stop to foxso-callenews, and probably even MSNBC, which sometimes, IMO, wouldn’t be a bad thing.
glenn
All – Cox Communications is another of Romney’s “projects”, guess that car elevator is costing more than he thought to run…
sillylittleme
SLM–saw her name momentarily on the side.
glenn
Glenn – it would cause all of the corporate media to be broken up, and that wouldn’t be a bad thing
sillylittleme
SLM–I agree. What is it now? Only about two or three corporations own all of the news outlets?
glenn
This blocking of a channel to a cable or satellite companies customers is now a pretty standard negotiation tactic. It is happening more frequently, a game that each side thinks will help them win them what they want. Meanwhile, screw the people.
adlib7 days ago
Ad – basically what most were commenting, its always the customers that get squeezed.
sillylittleme
Yep, we are down to 4-5 corps that control all of our media. And of course, as they always promise before their takeovers of other media companies, it’s made things so much better for consumers and lowered our bills.
adlib7 days ago
Glenn – I think there are a few more than that, there are still some regional news corporations, but you’re point is well taken
sillylittleme
Corporations are gluttonous. They’re now trying to devour an entire holiday and turn Thanksgiving into a holiday that’s just about shopping for crap.
adlib7 days ago
Hey Sabreen
sillylittleme
Hey Sabreen!
adlib7 days ago
Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I just wanted to stop by and say I hope you enjoyed the holiday.
sabreen60
Thanks Sabreen, we did! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful!
adlib7 days ago
Ad – I want to attach an image from Facebook that sums up your feelings on the subject. What do I have to do to post a picture…
slm – Thanks a great sign and so true. People were protesting Walmart all over the country. But retail companies like Macy’s are just as guilty. They pay min wage and then didn’t close for Thanksgiving so their employees could spend the day with their families. It’s just so disgusting. But on the other hand, people were lined up for blocks waiting to get into Walmart. So hundreds protested, but thousands shopped.
sabreen60
Hey folks, I have to step away for a bit, feel free to help yourselves at the bar but no barfights while I’m gone.
adlib7 days ago
AdLib et al – Yes I enjoyed the day very much. At least I was able to close my mind to all the crap going on.
sabreen60
Sabreen – agree and those who shopped are so wrapped up in themselves that they don’t see the disgusting treatment of those who have to work. Attended a Veteran
sillylittleme
Sabreen–I guess the good news is that some people did protest.
glenn
‘s Thanksgiving dinner and sat next to someone who thought the Waltons were entitled to all of their billions. He also was anti-union.
sillylittleme
glenn – Yep. But the only way real change is going to happen is when enough people get fed up.
sabreen60
Sabreen–I agree, but I’m afraid that’s going to take a very long time! Hell, people aren’t fed up enough to even vote, let alone protest!
glenn
Sabreen – so agree, but that will take a hell of a lot of people to get po’d
sillylittleme
slm- Of course there are people like that. If not, then the unions couldn’t have been decimated. We can always count on people who don’t care about other people.
sabreen60
Hey Kalima, how
sillylittleme
‘re things in Tokyo
sillylittleme
Sabreen – as my man said, he is retired so he has his can’
sillylittleme

sillylittleme
I’m not on the Chat but working somewhere else, so please don’t think that I’m ignoring you.
kalima
Sabreen – that didn’t stop him from wrapping up a couple of plates to take home to his wife. He didn’t see the irony…
sillylittleme
Well folks I wish I could stay, but I must go. Have a great and safe week.
sabreen60
Okay, folks, time for me to call it a night. G’night everyone. Hope you all have a good weekend. Peace!
glenn
G’night Sabreen. Take care.
glenn
Nite Sabreen and Glenn, have a happy and healthy weekend.
