The image of the Pink Panther that is. Quite and achievement!
adlib 7 days ago

Where’s the ‘post’ command in the edit page?
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh

Harleigh

Harleigh, yes, not a bad week for the white hats.
pinkpantheroz

adlib 7 days ago

ad – was more excited for marriage equality win…
sillylittleme

Harleigh – Pat Robertson has got to be heavily medicating tonight!
adlib 7 days ago

My wife and I vote by mail here. Signed up for it two years at a time.
Harleigh

harleigh – hope you get better soon, mj cures everything but the common cold
passing a doobie

sillylittleme

I hope he gets killed by a big load of dinosaur shit.
Harleigh

Hey slm! I’m very happy about the marriage equality rulings but I thought that was inevitable. The Voter ID laws though, I’m surprised the RW on the SCOTUS didn’t get enough votes to keep them in place.
adlib 7 days ago

Only 3!!!!!!!!!
Harleigh

I would have bet 5 -4
Harleigh

ad – Pat Robertson is a buffoon still shilling for the lord (who he perceives himself to be)…
sillylittleme

Harleigh – Can’t recall which state it is but one state for sure won’t count absentee votes without also going through a Voter ID process.
adlib 7 days ago

harleigh – my 90 year old mom votes in your county, she’ll be supporting Crist…
sillylittleme

SLM I meant to thank you on your music esp 2 of my favs, Laura Branigan – Gloria and KC – Boogie shoes! Love those tunes.
Harleigh

Harleigh – Agreed, I would have thought 5-4 too! Some SCOTUS judge took his prozac!
adlib 7 days ago

harleigh – Laura died so young and well who doesn’t get up and boogie for kc…
sillylittleme

I loved Laura…. almost as much as you LMAO
Harleigh

ad – maybe there is more behind the scene that we would know if they would deliberate in public…
sillylittleme

harleigh – why do the good always seem to die young, but pure evil lasts forever?
sillylittleme

I wish I had that answer.
Harleigh

slm, wish I could see the expression on Pat Robertson’s face when he realizes he’s just died and Satan is shaking his hand.
adlib 7 days ago

I wanna see his face when he gets fucking swallowed by jebus’ dinosaur!! muhahaha
Harleigh

ad – I doubt there’ll be handshaking more like hot poker time…
sillylittleme

hi glenn – how was your week?
sillylittleme

slm – I sure am curious about what the deliberations were on Voter ID and which of the Fecal Five on the SCOTUS grew a nub of a consceince.
adlib 7 days ago

roberts was one!!!
Harleigh

Howdy everyone!
glenn

ad – If I had to guess, I’ll go with Roberts and one of his two faces
sillylittleme

hey glenn
Harleigh

Maybe Satan will welcome Pat Robertson to hell by forcing him to marry Hitler.
adlib 7 days ago

Hi, glenn.
pinkpantheroz

Hey Harleigh, how are you doing?
glenn

Hey glenn!!!
adlib 7 days ago

Hi PPO, how’s everything down under?
glenn

ad – saddam already has that honor

sillylittleme

Hey AdLib, how are you?
glenn

isn’t it a poke in the eye for the Taliban that Malala got the Nobel Prize? Shows that not all Muslims are feral fundamentalists!
pinkpantheroz

Pat in a 3way with saddam and hitler. perfect.
Harleigh

So…here in the peachtree state, the SOS has “lost” over 4000 voter registrations. Hmmm….need I mention he’s a republican?
glenn

Glenn, Spring horse racin carnival on now. At least its a change from the endless Aussie Football!
pinkpantheroz

Pink – it is a poke in the eye to all suppressive governments
sillylittleme

glenn – who would have guessed?
sillylittleme

PPO–sounds like fun!
glenn

ad – he has many admirers
sillylittleme

SLM–not me!
glenn

I remember those! LOLOLOL
Harleigh

PPO–fast horses, fast cars–any other “fast” things?
glenn

Women!
pinkpantheroz

hey kt
sillylittleme

glenn – Fast and furious?

adlib 7 days ago

PPO–Hmmm, I thought so!
glenn

Hey KT!
adlib 7 days ago

Ad–good one–ask PPO if they’re also furious!
glenn

BTW I had my wife’s permission to say that!
pinkpantheroz

Hey folks! BRB! I just checked to see if I could log in now. I had problems earlier.
killgoretrout

Hey, KT. Glad you’re about.
pinkpantheroz

sillylittleme

pinkpantheroz

glenn

Anyone else think that Leon Paneta should win the Nobel Prize for Total Douche?
adlib 7 days ago

ad – for total liar
sillylittleme

he is the nozzle
Harleigh

Ad, yes! What a useless cretin to bit POTUS’ hand
pinkpantheroz

Ad–what is this with piling on the President lately?
glenn

glenn November is almost here!
pinkpantheroz

Hey Murph, are you really here?
glenn

I think it’s a ploy.
Harleigh

glenn – when did it stop? this is just more of the same benghazi
sillylittleme

hey murph
Harleigh

hey murph – are you going to the rally in ferguson this weekend?
sillylittleme

SLM–you’re right. I meant “piling on” by Dems.
glenn

BRB
pinkpantheroz

glenn – they are running for office and pulling an al gore all the way
sillylittleme

hey kes
sillylittleme

glenn – The President’s numbers are down, Leon is pushing his book and like all douche’s is trying to create controversy to sell his book. Hey, can he also be nominated for Most Unsupporting in a Prostituting Role? Add to that he is a close Clinton crony and carrying water for them by trying to seperate Obama from the “smart” Clintonites.
adlib 7 days ago

SLM–I truly don’t get it. There are so many good things that Dems can run on; the deficit is down, Obamacare is working; unemployment is at a level lower than mittromney said he would get it; yet Dems seem to be running away from allthat!
glenn

Hello from me in mesoure…..
murphthesurf3

hey murph
Harleigh

Hey Murph! How are things in MO…or Larry or Curly for that matter.
adlib 7 days ago

glenn – don’t get it, perhaps they too realize that the reagan revolution is about to end…
sillylittleme

Hey, SLM and friends! Was just skimming earlier comment to catch up. How is everyone?
kesmarn

Ad–I would cast my vote for panetta to be nominated for Most Unsupporting in a Prostituting Role. I don’t care how much of a Clintonite you are; President Obama can’t run again, so why not support him?
glenn

Hello Planeteers!
sabreen60

I think Grimes should have stayed on meddage with women and HC to ditch mitch
Harleigh

message
Harleigh

hey sabreen
sillylittleme

Hi sabreen
Harleigh

hi kes! lol
Harleigh

Hey Sabreen!
glenn

glenn – It’s definitely misguided but very much based on the narrow issue of Obama’s approval numbers. They’re low so the moronic Dems out there are running away from any connection to his policies…which include some very good things going on. It’s so stupid. Kind of like when Gore ran away from all the great economic news under Clinton.
adlib 7 days ago

harleigh – did you see about the turtle’s interview with the most popular sports radio jock?
sillylittleme

Hey Sabreen!
adlib 7 days ago

no
Harleigh

harleigh – he had a coakley/schilling moment…
sillylittleme

Ad–maybe I”m naive, but isn’t it the Dems “responsibility” to help get the President’s approval ratings up? That way, they have a strong platform on which to run. SMH
glenn

Ad…things are not good here…..I feel like St Louis and its innter suburbs are on the edge of a precipice….there is so much anger…so much hatred…so much fear….
murphthesurf3

Rumor has it that Panetta’s job is to distance Hillary from the Prez on policy and set her up for her own run.
kesmarn

Harleigh – I’ve really become a bit disappointed in the pandering that Grimes has been doing, refusing to even say that she voted for Obama. Yes, there are a lot of KY folks who are that small minded, that such things would alienate them from voting for her but they’re already voting for Turtle Poop anyway.
adlib 7 days ago

I would like to see mitch in front of Hope Solo giving her his conescending smarmy view on women…. just before she knocke his fuckin haid off.
Harleigh

Hey Kes–but where would Hillary be without President Obama nominating her for SOS?
glenn

Good question, glenn.
kesmarn

glenn – You’re not naive at all, you’re just a loyal, big picture thinker. These Dems are so small minded and are paving a path to their defeat, thinking they’re protecting themselves. They won’t win by hiding their Dem membership in a sock drawer, they’ll win by putting it on and touting all the good Dems have done and want to do.
adlib 7 days ago

murph – you don’t think the weekend rally will help?
sillylittleme

Ad–I’m disappointed in Grimes lately, too. However, she’s still miles ahead of the turtle.
glenn

I am praying to baby jebus for a Palin-Bachmann ticket. come git yer screech on.
Harleigh

SLM…the several rallies and marches will not help to soothe the growing sense that Wilson will be getting away with murder.
murphthesurf3

Has Hillary been out and about supporting Dems for the Nov election?
sabreen60

murph – can you blame them?
sillylittleme

Kes–thanks. This is why I have hesitation about HIllary. She does seem to be like a candle in the wind, and blows whichever way she thinks the wind is blowing.
glenn

Everyday there are images of police acting as bullies, and jack booted thugs…every image reinforces the anger of our crowds.
murphthesurf3

Hey, Sabreen! I haven’t seen any coverage of Hillary doing much campaigning for Dems. I think Bill has.
kesmarn

glenn, I read somewhere Hillary said she may be amenable to gutting some of “Obamacare”.
sabreen60

sabreen – she’s being a grandmom for a bit
sillylittleme

glenn, yesterday I read an article on Vox (the website) about Hillary’s senior thesis on Saul Alinsky. Had to wonder what ever happened to that younger, more progressive version of her?
kesmarn

Waht about FLipper rearing his orange face again. good or bad?
pinkpantheroz

PPO–is the flipper the mittster?
glenn

Yup!
pinkpantheroz

kes – money is toxicating, many have left their principles behind for green
sillylittleme

And then label it “maturing,” SLM!
kesmarn

Sabreen–It wouldn’t surprise me that Hillary would gut some of Obamacare. I think my biggest issue with her is I just don’t trust her.
glenn

Evenin’ my American friends!
beatlex

SLM. It’s more the power , but the green does help!
pinkpantheroz

the amazing cryin cheeto rides again on benghazi ans aca gov’t shutdown. wtf?
Harleigh

Pink – he will always be schitt fockme to me
sillylittleme

Murph, I think the protesters have shown great restraint. I heard one young say that this is not your father’s civil rights movement. I have been saying all along, there is no MLK, Jr. The young people really aren’t in to turning the other cheek, but I think the vast majority have really been keeping it together.
sabreen60

Hey, Beatlex! How are you this Friday evening?
kesmarn

Hey Bealex–how goes it?
glenn

hey beatlez
sillylittleme

x
sillylittleme

hi beatlex!
Harleigh

and ozzie
beatlex

Murph – That’s what I was afraid of. The transparent agenda of McCulloch to prevent the arrest and trial of Darren Wilson is the same as pouring gasolline over the whole city. I think he may succeed with his grand jury ploy and then all hell will break loose.
adlib 7 days ago

Hey Beatlex!
adlib 7 days ago

Hiya Beatlex!
pinkpantheroz

Beatlex did you have any trouble crossing the border to get here?
Harleigh

Sabreen and Murph–I thought the symphony protest was one of the best protests I have ever seen!
glenn

Had a VERY long day, working out of town
beatlex

Hey Kes! My browser crashed and missed you popping in! Howdy!
adlib 7 days ago

glenn – loved it, so did many of the symphony’s members
sillylittleme

That got airtime all over the place, glenn. And the orchestra was really sympathetic.
kesmarn

Missed that, dammit. Where can I check the protest out?
pinkpantheroz

Hey AdLib! It’s been a crashy kinda day today!
kesmarn

And when all hell breaks loose McCulloch’s allies will point at the crowds and say….”see, these are the kind of people who produced that thug who nearly killed a good cop.”
murphthesurf3

glenn, boy do I get weird stuff. I wasn’t around last week because I was in urgent care overnight. I had heard of people getting kidney stones, but I had a stone in a salavery gland. My face looked as though I had been hit by Muhammad Ali. It was awful.
sabreen60

Hi Beatlex!
sabreen60

Harleigh,I have not been to the US in many years
beatlex

oh geez
Harleigh

Ouch, Sabreen! How did they get that stone out?
kesmarn

Wow, Sab. Never heard of that, Sounds Nasty, but I hope you’re OK now.
pinkpantheroz

PPO–just google Micheal Brown St. Louis symphony protest–you should get numerous hits. Of course, some other more tech savy Planeteer can probably provide with you a link.
glenn

sillylittleme

sillylittleme

Sabreen–holy cow! Are you okay now?
glenn

Nah, that’s fine, glenn. I’ll check it out. It is very limiting what we get here from the US.
pinkpantheroz

Kes – You said it! I need higher crash insurance, would have used up my policy tonight!
adlib 7 days ago

beatlex you’re not missing much.
Harleigh

Sabreen, that had to hurt, are you OK now
beatlex

sabreen – hope you’re feeling better
sillylittleme

SLM…I was at Powell Hall last week when the protest happened.
murphthesurf3

Murph–was it as awesome in person as it was on video?
glenn

murph – it must have been moving
sillylittleme

PPO–see I told you a Planeteer would oblige. Check out the video–it’s awesome!
glenn

kes, This is gross – but you asked. The next day after being pumped with antibiotics, steriods and pain mediciene, I went back to my ENT. I had a hole on the inside of my cheek. He massaged my face and the stone popped out through the hole. I had a CT scan so he knew it was in there.
sabreen60

Murph – Yep, but the resulting madness and the eventual trial and conviction of Wilson by the DoJ will confirm that McColloch will have blood on his hands from the violence that he is inciting and for Michael Brown who was murdered in cold blood by the police force he is protecting.
adlib 7 days ago

Yeah well we have to be more vigilant about young black men armed with, skittles, cigars and sandwiches ya know!
Harleigh

ad – justice will be served… eventually
sillylittleme

glenn and slm…it was very well done, the orchestra responded in kind, most of the audience was respectful and somber, the conductor waved off the ushers, the few who objected were quickly hushed…IF that spirit could be bottled then I would have no fear but I do not think it can be.
murphthesurf3

Sabreen – Holy Mackeral! That sounds awful! So sorry you had to go through that but very glad it came out and you’re on the mend.
adlib 7 days ago

Yeah, folks. I’m ok. Still taking oral antibiotics and feeling much better. That pain was awful.
sabreen60

Harleigh–I’m not sure about the “sandwich” defense. There was a gun found at the scene, wasn’t there? I know it could have been planted, but then again….
glenn

awesome murph
Harleigh

Just seen it, thank you all. WOW! What a powerful stand.
pinkpantheroz

Sabreen, that’s kinda what I expected to hear. LOL! Not to worry about the gross factor. I am a nurse after all. (Or at least still have my license!)
kesmarn

Who here thinks that there will be no charges brought against the cop who killed Michael Brown? The prosecuter seems to be trying to avoid that
beatlex

Ad….McColloch is elected by a white population….most are angry at having lost their city, or they are now in what is now the suburbs and used to be their small town…and are angry about that.
murphthesurf3

Beatlex, surely negligent homicide, at the very least?
pinkpantheroz

He’ll get off by virtue of a planted throwaway gun.
Harleigh

slm – But racists and apologists like McColloch insist on a trail of violence and destruction in order to reach justice. He should be removed ASAP.
adlib 7 days ago

Murph–I did love the expression on that one woman’s face! That was priceless! Nice to know that the orchestra was respectful.
glenn

ad – if that were the case, the list would be very long…
sillylittleme

glenn – I hope her kids see it at some point and ridicule her
sillylittleme

Beatlex–I don’t think there will be any charges against Wilson. However, I hope once that happens, we aren’t faced with another Rodney King riot.
glenn

I don’t know Oz,but it seems to me the prosecuter wants no charges brought. Why was the cop allowed to testify for 4 hours? That does not happen often as far as I know
beatlex

Beatlex – I think the whole scheme of McCulloch taking it to a Grand Jury and stalling them for so long is to get Wilson off without any charge close to murder or manslaughter. Will he succeed? I don’t know but it’s very possible since that Grand Jury could be stacked with a lot of racist white people.
adlib 7 days ago

Beatlex, when McColloch decided to go with a grand jury rather than charging Wilson with a crime I thought that this is not going to be good. BTW, I saw some Cardinal fans with Darren Wilson signs and later someone is making t-shirts that say “We are Darren Wilson”. I guess I will never understand the mentality.
sabreen60

SLM–I hope her anyone who knows her ridicules her!
glenn

Glenn,I think you are right
beatlex

b – I for one would want him to answer a LOT of questions!!!!
sillylittleme

Sabreen,I saw that,it is disgusting to me
beatlex

More than half a million has been raised for Wilson….on line…where some of the most offensive racism can be found in print.
murphthesurf3

sabreen most of us will never understand bagger mentality.
Harleigh

murph – find them all and ship them to syria…
sillylittleme

harleigh – hear, hear or here, here (which is more appropriate)
sillylittleme

That’s what I’ve been saying too, SLM. If those T-baggers are itching for a fight, let ’em go to Syria.
kesmarn

Murph–why is that money being raised? So far Wilson hasn’t been charged with anything, has he? So, why does he need money? Doesn’t he still have his job, too? What does he need money for? WTH is wrong with these people? That last question is a rhetorical one, BTW.
glenn

kes – it would help them get some perspective on the world
sillylittleme

Murph – Right, I understand that the officials are all elected by the white minority and that the blatant racism is only growing. But unless they want to learn the story first hand as to why George Custer lost The Battle of Little Big Horn, they better reconsider their hatred of the majority of people in their town.
adlib 7 days ago

glenn – spot on
sillylittleme

It would, SLM. And maybe a visit from Malala to Ferguson would be in order too.
kesmarn

ad – they don
sillylittleme

‘t want to acknowledge history
sillylittleme

I don’t know if the young man had a gun or not. But the video I saw of him in the store showed his pants damn near around his knees. Seriously, where was he carrying a gun? He had on a thin t-shirt and his pants were hanging way down on his butt.
sabreen60

kes – without a doubt!!
sillylittleme

HAHAHA those baggers in a gunfight would fold like the cowards they are in less than a day. Can you just imagine one of those fatassed doughnut cops walking in the desert.
Harleigh

Kes – The sad thing is that Ferguson, like other particular parts of the country, have a society that resembles a 3rd World country.
adlib 7 days ago

Glenn- Go Fund Me had a defense fund on its site. It has now shut down but not before a lot of money was raised.
murphthesurf3

‘Zactly, Harleigh! They would be crying for their momma’s within 48 hours.
kesmarn

Murph–so does Wilson get to keep all the money?
glenn

Ad….Custer lost but the white settlers won and native Americans were the big losers in the end.
murphthesurf3

kes – I don’t think it will take that long
sillylittleme

Right, AdLib. Ferguson is 3rd world. Tribal white folks.
kesmarn

Murph–IOW–shoot an unarmed black teenager–become rich!
glenn

Glenn….the money goes to a fund controlled by his friends.
murphthesurf3

Harleigh – I would love to see how brave these cops would be if Ferguson citizens armed themselves like Cliven Bundy’s militia loons. And they were never tear gassed or arrested.
adlib 7 days ago

ad – but for them that was justified
sillylittleme

Murph–okay, I’ll bite. What are the friends doing with the money? Not that I feel sorry for any of the fools who donated, but what is happening with the money? Show me the money!

Glenn….that question is one of the reasons the appeal ended…..
murphthesurf3

Murph – Not a direct match for Ferguson, in fact, just the opposite. Native Americans were on a path to having a shrinking population while the white population was booming. It’s the other way around in Ferguson, blacks are outnumbering whites so the eventual outcome after Little Bighorn would be reversed in this case.

You’re right, these are tribal white folks who are just as embracing of murder as ISIS.
adlib 7 days ago

Murph–referring to Sabreen’s post that there are plenty of guns in black communities–does MO have an “open carry” law? As we all know, there’s nothing like black people openly carrying guns that would get those “open cary” laws changed!

Point to ponder. What if someone applied to build a mosque in Ferguson. the poor racists would die from whiplash looking over their shoulders so much!
pinkpantheroz

Speaking of open carry — there was a case of a 21 year-old guy open carrying. And another guy decided “Hey, I like your gun,” and robbed him of it at gunpoint. It would have been funny if it hadn’t been so pathetic.
kesmarn

Ad–and don’t forget that there is absolutely NO outrage at the 19 beheadings conducted by Saudi Arabia in the past year. SA is our ally, dontcha know? And, I know from personal experience, from living in Saudi Arabia, that those beheadings are conducted in the main square in the towns, and held on the holy day, Friday.

glenn

Murph – It’s just a matter of time. Even if it’s a small percentage of black people in MO who vote, as their population grows, that percentage will eventually surpass the white voters. And for those activists who see this inequity, working hard to GOTV and register black voters could be very successful, especially if McCulloch succeeds in getting Wilson off.
adlib 7 days ago

So true, AdLib. Some of those Ferguson white thugs would fit right in with the ISIS gangs. Just swap out those white hoods for black ones.
kesmarn

Murph–weren’t you saying something last week about the voter registration in MO? Is that still happening?
glenn

adlib 7 days ago

If Obama bombs ISIS, he is doing too little too late. If he doesn’t bomb them, he is being weak and allowing them to become a greater threat to America. Sometimes there are scenarios where the choice is between bad and worse and that seems to be what we’ve got here. Funk–I’m with you about the mixed feelings. I think Reza Aslan brings up good points. As for Muslims in the US sitting on their hands, I think they are protesting these fundamentalists, they just don’t get any press. In addition, there are many Christians in this country sitting on their hands regarding the fundamentalists here!

beatlex

Agree, KT. I wonder if there are as many versions of the Koran as there are Bibles.
pinkpantheroz

KT, Where’s the difference. Christian fundamentalist hate gays, thinks everyone should believe as they do and believe women should be subservient.
sabreen60

I don’t go back too in history regarding the crimes of other religions. I stick to the present because that’s what is really relevant now.
killgoretrout

Its true that if Sam and Bill had burned a Koran on the air that night that thousands would have died in protests around the world and they would have lived in hiding for the next several years. I admit it. I think the bigger story is why that is politically possible. The raping and pillaging of SE Asia, N. Africa and the Middle East by succession of imperialists, invaders, and strongmen led to radical islamists taking and holding political power.
funksands

Beatlex–It’s not the Americans robbing them of their wealth–it’s their own damn leades. Most of the leaders and their followers live very well.

What do folks here think about that Maher/Affleck argument? I think both are at the extremes. Maher’s championing of generalizing about all those in a religion is messed up but Affleck’s kneejerk political correctness that anyone who criticizes Islam is an Islamophobe is ignorant.

killgoretrout

You all do realize that all the buy-bull books (including Korans) that get referenced were supposedly originally ‘written’ thousands and thousands of years ago way before Anglo-Saxons even existed, by non-white Middle Eastern brown men in now dead languages and that those were not their real original names right? Matt, Mark, Luke, John and Zeke?! Yeah right. More like Abdul, Habib or Omar. Most were wandering nomadic herdsmen with even less education than a 4 year old kid in Mississippi. Those ‘original’ storybooks were written by hand in a now dead language and transcribed and rewritten and re-interpreted by hand into other now dead languages dozens of times for dozens of different religions/sects or monestaries over the past 5,000 or so years resulting in massive disinformation to control the populations of those times. I got ‘THE WORD’ from a burning bush… or Hey! A talking snake told me…. blah blah blah. Thanks for sharing your dogma though. All religions are businesses and should be taxed.
Harleigh

KT, I don’t think it’s the Qu’ran that’s the problem. It’s Hadith (sayings of the Prophet). There is suppose to authentic Hadith and false. Much of it cultural. For instance, there is nothing in the Qu’ran that says a woman must be completely covered except for her eyes. Nor is there anything that says a woman can’t be educated. These are things that men have decided on their own.
sabreen60

KT, sadly so, because the ME leaders didn’t spend their oil money on social or educational programs. They’re not wired like that.
pinkpantheroz

sillylittleme

So why wasn’t Islam used in this radical way in the past? This is fairly recent occurrence historically speaking
funksands

Here’s what Reza Aslan had to say about Maher’s criticism of Islam: And I would say that the other thing that’s a little bit different is that the criticism of Islam has really crossed the line into what can only be described as frank bigotry. When he starts decrying how many babies born in Europe are named Mohammad, says things about Muslims in America “bringing that desert stuff into our world” — that is no longer just simple criticism of religious doctrine or practice. That’s a very specifically targeted animosity towards a particular group of people. You don’t see him saying things like that about other religious groups — though, again, in his defense, to him the problem is religion in general.
glenn

Are all Christians murderous extremists then? So all Muslims can’t be either. But Affleck’s too politically correct, thinking that the horrible beliefs based on the Koran shouldn’t be criticized as being such.
adlib 7 days ago

Beatlex, they are stuck in the strict, straight-down-the-liine word for word teachings of the Koran, which keeps them in the Middle Ages. Want to know what Christians did in those days? Well, keep checking the Fundamentalist oiks in the South and find out.

Just to be clear and on the record….I am a Christian Humanist….Christian humanism emphasizes the humanity of Jesus, his social teachings and his propensity to synthesize human spirituality and materialism. It regards humanist principles like universal human dignity and individual freedom and the primacy of human happiness as essential and principal components of, or at least compatible with, the teachings of Jesus. Christian humanism can be perceived as a philosophical union of Christian ethics and humanist principles. I regard Yehua bar Yusef bin Nazrit and the Siddartha Gautama, the Buddha….as the principle sources of human philosohpical enlightenment. I do not buy the mythology that surrounds either one. Muhammad is not in the same category with them.

IMO, there is way too much cherry picking on both sides of the argument. The cherry picking makes each side right but wrong.

Sabreen – Appreciate your pointing that out, extremist murders in the name of Christianity against minorities, gays, other religions were not uncommon in the US just decades ago. Pointing a finger at Islam and not recognizing this about Christianity distracts people from recognizing the true enemies in all religions, the wild eyed extremists. They’re in all religions, they’re the ones to point a finger at.

Murph – The issue here may be time. For Christianity, the barbarism of extremist Islam is a kind of “Been there, done that.” Since Christianity has gone through such a horrible phase and reformed, some now look down at Islam and say, “How could you be so awful?! I mean, we USED to be that awful but we’re not now so how can you be?” Is it maybe just the nature of these types of religions to have extremists lead it through vicious times until they are finally rejected and moderation takes over?

PPO – We can’t just stand by yet we need to be smart and recognize that if we have our troops in Iraq killing Muslims, we’re just helping ISIS recruit and sustain an endless war. We really need the Iraqis, Kurds and other ME nations to invest in their own security and fight this battle that is on their front doorstep. We can help but they can stop counting their oil revenues and defend their region from madmen.

pinkpantheroz

Pink – they started it, they can end it; they don’t want to stop it…
sillylittleme

PPO – They’ve taken for granted that the US will fight for them and that’s a part of oil dependency we need to break. ME nations need to secure the ME, not the US.
adlib 7 days ago

SLM, you have to ask why, as if ISIS establish a real foothold, they’ll overwhelm the ME and God help the Rulers if that happens.
pinkpantheroz

pink – long term planning is never the extremists strong suit. they never look at the consequences of their teachings of hate, fear and xenophobia
sillylittleme

Ad, you’re right, and so arises the dilemma about the US becoming independant of the ME for oil, but at what environmental cost?
pinkpantheroz

PPO – We fight ISIS as an extistential threat and yet Climate Change, a real existential threat can’t be addressed because wealthy people would make less money.

murphthesurf3

Murph – What do you think will happen and when?
adlib 7 days ago

Ad and SLM….there are a number of identifiable hot spots…..events like the shooting yesterday, bad rumors coming out of the grand jury, stories from elsewhere, and the big monster – a grand jury that does not recommend an indictment.
murphthesurf3

Things will boil over in the last scenario….rodney king like moment….
murphthesurf3

Murph – That’s what concerns me. I think there is a very good chance that the Grand Jury won’t indict Wilson…and if that happens, even though the DoJ will get him, madness could come down hard.
adlib 7 days ago

Just like you say, as with the Rodney King decision…but King wasn’t a teen and he wasn’t murdered nor was his murder witnessed by many people. It would be an outrage that could lead to something pretty horrible.
adlib 7 days ago

The DOJ minus Holder as Obama’s control of the Executive Branch slips (esp. with the Senate going GOP as I think it will) the knowing in Ferguson and associated with Ferguson will be angry and disilluioned to start with.
murphthesurf3

The new AG will be voted in during this Senate so that’s not going to be a problem. Probably after the election but by the end of the year.
adlib 7 days ago

PRINCETON, NJ — A majority of U.S. registered voters, 53%, say they are less enthusiastic about voting than in previous elections, while 35% are more enthusiastic. This 18-percentage-point enthusiasm deficit is larger than what Gallup has measured in prior midterm election years, particularly in 2010 when there was record midterm enthusiasm. Among registered voters, 42% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents currently say they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting, while 50% are less enthusiastic, resulting in an eight-point enthusiasm deficit. But Democrats are even less enthusiastic, with a 23-point deficit (32% more enthusiastic vs. 55% less enthusiastic). Typically, the party whose supporters have an advantage in enthusiasm has done better in midterm elections. Republicans had decided advantages in enthusiasm in 1994, 2002, and especially 2010 — years in which they won control of the House of Representatives or expanded on their existing majority. Democrats had the advantage in 2006, the year they won control of the House. Neither party had a decided advantage in 1998, a year Democrats posted minimal gains in House seats. Per Gallup.
murphthesurf3

It is Holder who went to Ferguson and without HIM, the confidence in the DOJ will lag.
murphthesurf3

The problem with national statistics is that they don’t reflect regions and in the regions that matter on control of the Senate, the Repubs don’t have a lock. I don’t doubt the enthusiasm deficit hurting Dems but in competitive states, it’s not the same as in non-competitive states.
adlib 7 days ago

That’s true Musph but as long as the DoJ let’s its actions speak for it, they can overcome the concerns. If Wilson is charged by the DoJ, they will be more confident.
adlib 7 days ago

We will see. You are always much more optimistic than I am and you have been much more accurate than I….so I hope you are right now.
murphthesurf3
