Perfect. I spent about 10 days in Madrid, Granada, then the Basque country and love Spain. I’ve never been to Mediterranean France. It’s all great. Though as we traveled from Germany to Paris we found eastern France to resemble Vacaville. Underwhelming.

Basque country is wonderful from all I’ve seen and heard, haven’t been there. I’ve been to Barcelona and of course, to the South of France and Italy. Everything is wonderful in those regions, the people, the seasides, and of course, the food and wine.

My ex and I were in London after the trip to Poland for two weeks. Had a flat on Abbey Road right by the famous crossing. It was boffo. We’re in a LOT of tourist photos from 1996 as WE crossed to head to the Tube.

The Basque country is night and day different from the rest of Spain. Simply stunning. We did a week long seminar on Mondragon cooperatives there. We were in Arrasate/Mondragon and environs. it’s spectacular. Hilly, mountainous, stunning.

I have enjoyed visting the UK. Haven’t been to Poland yet. My wife and daughter have been to The Czech Republic and enjoyed it, I would like to go there too. My two favorite places to vacation so far are Hawaii and the South of Europe.

Not sure about the studio, but in 1996 every Tom, Dick, and Uncle Albert led some low-rent tour w a boom box into our neighborhood with a few tourists looking for an experience. It was quite amusing.

We did a B&B for three days, then went to Poland for 12 days, back to London and the flat for 2 weeks. Did our shopping at Waitrose, and did day trips all over the place including Cambridge.

We got accepted in 1996 to give a paper in a castle in Walbryzych in Lower Silesia. It was a “by conference” of the World Heritage Society. “The International Conference on the Conservation of Industrial Heritage” We were the ONLY people from the Western hemisphere, and so close to the end of Soviet domination, still of interest to the police on the castle grounds. They were very sweet but followed Tom and me EVERYWHERE. We ignored that, always said “Dobry”- Good morning, w a smile – and all was fine. But they did not follow anyone else.

Actually, it wasn’t. They were so nice. And we were so pleasant, it was fine. When we got to Warsaw, found out our plane was cancelled, next flight at MIDNIGHT. So I went to Orbis travel help as Tom got the bags, and I asked if anyone spoke English. One woman did. The others pitched in to help us book a train, get a cab. Tom came in, and with smiles, and gestures, I thank them all – four women – and they GOT what I said from body language and tone. They were BEAMING. Well, same w the Polizei – you smile, nod your head, wave – it all freaking matters. We were fine.

When I was escorting women to clinics, I not infrequently counseled family in the back of the clinic. So MANY thought they’d go to hell for letting their daughter have an abortion. All they were trying to do was alleviate future harm to an actual child. So I said, “Who would understand your pain better than God?” And I meant it. Not that I believe in an interventionist God but they did. If God is love and created us, he would not smite those trying to improve situations. We really suck as a society thinking every iota of human behavior is bad. That’s just sick. I sent no end of people off feeling a bit better than they were when they got there. And now here I am still doing that. We are all MOSTLY OK. Those who aren’t? They will face whatever comes. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything. But not people just trying to muddle through.
