Hey TW!
AdLiban hour ago

Hey Ad
twilson117
How are things with you today?
AdLiban hour ago

Well another day in the wonderful world of trump screwedup land.
twilson117
Hey CL!
AdLiban hour ago
Hi Ad and TW!
choicelady

CL is in the house
twilson117

Hello CL
twilson117
Lovely to see you , TW. Hope all is well in MA and points East
choicelady
Hay AD – how are YOU?
choicelady

CL everything is fine weather is nice here just a little warm but having nice days.
twilson117
Or, rather ‘Hey”.
choicelady
A mixed day for Trump. His name is supposed to be off the Kennedy Center by midnight, his slush fund was stopped, and a thunderstorm should spoil his UFC cage fight this weekend.
AdLiban hour ago
TW – it’s been 101 here. May I come visit?
choicelady
Hi CL, doing fine. And you?
AdLiban hour ago

Welcome any time
twilson117
Ohhhh, Ad – the poor baby…
choicelady
And he had to drop Pulte as a nominee for DNI. But the replacement is a traitor too.
AdLiban hour ago
Doing OK. Chaos abounds this week. Lots of drama w homeless folks, but as the Brits so nicely say, “I got it sorted”. Sounds as if I cleaned up my sock drawer.
choicelady

Ad let’s hope it hail stones cats and dogs and a bigh fluffy marshmello man
twilson117
CL – I actually really like that phrase and use it myself from time to time.
AdLiban hour ago
TW = all that and a direct lightening strike on the icky superstructure. “Smiting is BACK, baby!”
choicelady
Well, it is kind of like that. “One in column A. Two in column B…” It works.
choicelady
TW – What could be a better message to the MAGA “Christians” than Trump getting hit by a bolt of lightning?
AdLiban hour ago

Have either of you heard from Murph?
twilson117
Oh heavens above, Ad – they’d just blame it on Biden and Obama.
choicelady
TW – I talked w him via email a couple of weeks ago. All was going fine. I’ve not heard or written since.
choicelady
I saw an article that Iran’s leaders are no consulting a psychiatrist because they are convinced Trump is insane and they want to know how to deal with him.
AdLiban hour ago

Ad Maga Christians? Is there really such a thing?
twilson117
TW – No, not since he was here a few weeks ago.
AdLiban hour ago
TW – good point. “MAGA Faux Christians.”
choicelady
Indeed, that’s why I put “Christian” in quotes. They only quote that they’re Christians.
AdLiban hour ago

Hope is doing ok
twilson117
I so resent being tarred with that creepy faux Christian brush.
choicelady

I meant to say hope Murph is doing ok
twilson117
TW – last I read from him, things were really good.
choicelady

How about our friend from down under way?
twilson117

CL that is good to hear
twilson117
I talked with PPO a couple of weeks ago. He and his yachting mates are sailing from Melbourne to Sidney and back, and he will join us soon. It’s WINTER down under, sailing season has ended.
choicelady
I read an indepth article about how Trump and his cronies sabotaged the actual America 250 org that the Smithsonian was leading to have a coast to coast celebration of America and created Freedom 250 out of a political PAC to celebrate…Trump. Remember how excited people were about the bicentennial? It’s nothing close to that this time, I could care less celebrating America with this madman in power.
AdLiban hour ago
CL- We should all go sailing next week to rub it in with PPO that it’s Summer up here!
AdLiban hour ago
Ad – I MAY have had ties to Pilgrims (kind of unclear) and certainly had family involved in the fight for independence. I feel SO cheated of this celebration!
choicelady
I think going sailing is great. Can’t take Greg – he gets seasick. No fun on the water. But I don’t. I’ve ridden out some gullywashers, no nothing.
choicelady
CL – I hear you. Amid the ICE violence, the defacing of DC into a memorial for Trump, and the murders and wars under Trump, who feels like celkebrating this America?
AdLib44 minutes ago
I haven’t been sailing for quite a while but I really enjoyed it.
AdLib44 minutes ago
100% true, Ad.
choicelady
This current authoritarian America is not something to celebrate.
AdLib43 minutes ago
I crossed from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria BC on a ferry that heaved in high seas. Did not bother me at all.
choicelady
And who wants to “celebrate” Trump? The crowds outside Kennedy Center tonight are HUGE waiting for the name to come down.
choicelady
And the polling for Trump is only getting worse. I laughed at a story that MAGA sites. podcasts, and social media are crashing because even Repubs have had enough of Trump.
AdLib42 minutes ago
CL – That’s a legit sailing!
AdLib42 minutes ago
And they’re not visiting MAGA sites and social media anymore.
AdLib42 minutes ago
Greg and I did the River Cruise on Viking which was fine for him. No waves. I loved that, too.
choicelady
Life goes on without MAGA. Imagine that.
choicelady

The last time I recall being a boat was a harbor cruise at a fund raising event the wife and I attended in Boston that was several years ago.
twilson117
Only thing about the Viking Cruise was passing Frankfurt at about 1 am – gorgeous – only to find out a few months later we’d sailed right over an unexploded WW II bomb. OMG!!!
choicelady
CL – That sounds perfect for him! River cruises are perfect for those easily seasick. Only took one cruise in my life, it was a smaller and more upscale one, I would never want to be on a Carnival Cruise monstrosity…and get hantavirus.
AdLib40 minutes ago
TW – I WOULD LOVE a Boston harbor cruise! I adore that city, warts and all. I’ve never really seen the harbor.
choicelady
TW – How did both of you like the harbor cruise?
AdLib39 minutes ago
Ad – you could not pay me to do a Carnival Cruise. Too Las Vegas and way too risky for sure.
choicelady
CL – That is crazy! Can you imagine, a cruise ship blown up from an old WWII mine?
AdLib38 minutes ago
Well, nobody did, but they shut down the Main (“Mine”) Canal and evacuated everyone on the waterfront do divers could retrieve it. It did NOT explode. Whew! But knowing after the fact it was there was…daunting.
choicelady
I used to like going to Vegas when I was younger and it was the old Vegas. $1.99 prime rib, hotel rooms for $30 a night, and that air of danger. Now, it’s an in your face Disneyland with ridiculous prices for everything!
AdLib36 minutes ago
Ad – that’s sure my impression. I have not been IN Las Vegas, only the airport that I hate. Greg now goes every August to the Star Trek convention he absolutely loves. He is officially a Trekkie
choicelady
They now charge a lot for parking at casinos which they never did before. So now you pay them to take your money at their casino.
AdLib35 minutes ago

CL it was nice I think they still do it but I’m not sure don’t much of a reason to go into Boston
twilson117
Ad – that’s seems rude!!! He flies down, and the convention center is ENORMOUS, so after his hip replacement, he rents a scooter to get around. Perfect.
choicelady
CL – Did Greg go to the Star Trek Experience years ago at the Hilton? I think I asked you that before but remind me.
AdLib34 minutes ago

CL who is his favorite character?
twilson117
CL – A scooter to get around the casinos is brilliant! The walk through a casino to get to another is so long.
AdLib33 minutes ago
CL – Tim and I are Star Trek fans too.
AdLib33 minutes ago
TW – I can see that. I lived there for 3 months in 1980 on Beacon Hill. It was really fun and NOT horribly expensive. On Revere Street. Could not be better for walking. Close to everything and the MTA.
choicelady

Ad I loved it when Chekov told Scotty that Russia invented Scotch
twilson117
There are dozens of scooter rental places now. He got one reasonably, and it made all the difference. First year he was in a lot of pain. Last year it was so much better. And even w his ADD he 1. did not run anyone over. 2. did not lose the key. All good.
choicelady
I’ve enjoyed Faneuil Hall.
AdLib31 minutes ago
TW – that’s HILARIOUS!!!
choicelady
TW – Same here!
AdLib30 minutes ago
CL – I wonder if they rent people movers there, I always wanted to try one and never have.
AdLib30 minutes ago

CL getting into Boston is a pain you need to take out a short term loan to park your car
twilson117
I love Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Though it lost something when a wonderful bar, “Bunbury’s” closed. It’s a play on a theme from “The Importance of Being Ernest” when the main character’s excuse for departing from his aunt’s company was, “I have to go see my friend, Bunbury”.
choicelady
Parking really sucks in Boston and you never get out cheap.
AdLib29 minutes ago
Ad – it’s Vegas. They rent EVERYTHING.
choicelady
CL – That is clever. Sorry to hear it closed.
AdLib29 minutes ago
I refused to drive in Boston when I lived in MA. You don’t really need to.
choicelady

There were times when it was cheaper to park in a no parking area and just pay the ticket, but the mayor got wised to that and up the parking ticket fees.
twilson117
TW – I absolutely knew that trick. Sorry to hear it’s no longer viable!
choicelady
Talking about Vegas being overbuilt, how much are we enjoying the people of Albania coming out to protest in massive numbers against the Ivanka and Jared monstrosity of a resort there?
AdLib27 minutes ago
LOVING Albania for tossing out the parvenues!
choicelady
My understanding is the entire island deal is DOA. Jared and Ivanka fled and are not at all welcome there.
choicelady

Speaking of the rich I guess it’s official Musk is now a trillionaire
twilson117
The Brits have many great sayings: would call the Trumps “Jumped up” and “No better than they should be.” Classist? Yes. But also a commentary on a lack of ethics and standards. I can live with it.
choicelady
CL – I heard they’ve already bulldozed environmentally sensitive parts of the island. But also that the EU declared it would prevent Albania from joining the EU and a judge stopped it too.
AdLib24 minutes ago
TW – his IPO made him so for a nanosecond. Rumors abound that it’s a very weak stock and will start to crumble moving him back, the poor dear, to mere billionaire status.
choicelady
I will vote for a Dem nominee for president who seeks to nationalize Space-X.
AdLib24 minutes ago
Ad – Yes. I’d heard the same. Those imperialist upstarts need a good shut down. I think this is it.
choicelady
Ad – I will vote for a Dem nominee who will just let it rot.
choicelady

I was recently reading passage from one of Barbara Tuchman’s book where she talking about the snakes that eat the Trojan Priest and his sons when he was warning Prime not to take in the Wooden Horse
twilson117

I could only image that would be a fitting situation for Ivanka and Jared
twilson117
Oh, TW – may history repeat itself!!
choicelady
CL – I’ve seen multiple articles saying that SpaceX is all smoke and mirrors. The main value of the new company is building data centers in space…which the tech for doing so doesn’t even exist or has proven viable. Remember, Musk promised Teslas would be self-driving and they still aren’t and he said he would colonize Mars. Why do so many people buy his BS? Nothing he promises ever happens.
AdLib21 minutes ago
That’s the point – the “money making” is years to decades off and might never pan out. Why invest in it?
choicelady
He did get SkyLink, but after that, NOTHING worked.
choicelady
TW – A perfect story for this Musk fraud. Probably the most massive fraud ever perpetrated on our country.
AdLib20 minutes ago
Yup
choicelady
CL – Skylink is based on decades old science. We have had sattelite phones decades before Musk. This is different, Musk is promising something that no one has yet invented. It is a fraud, watch and see.
AdLib19 minutes ago
satellite
AdLib19 minutes ago
Well, he did get it in orbit. He didn’t blow up then.
choicelady
He blew up many satellites trying to get the ones up that he has.
AdLib18 minutes ago
I imagine both of you are like me – we will enjoy the collapse of the would be Doge, King of the World.
choicelady
He is good at ONE thing: buying stuff. He stinks at running it all.
choicelady
It’s like my starting up an IPO to produce Star Trek style replicators. I could spend a fortune praising how the world will be changed by them…but they have never been created before. I am taking $1 trillion in investments anyway, if either of you are interested
AdLib17 minutes ago
Sorry, Ad – my “investment advisor” thinks it’s too dicey.
choicelady

I have to admit when he first came on the scene he seem like a cook guy but that all changed quickly for me as he showed his true colors and his racist South African ways.
twilson117

I meant cool
twilson117
TW – totally agree. Apartheid fascism hold zero lure. It’s also not forgiveable.
choicelady
Here’s my proposition: This IPO is infecting so many corners of Wall Street and investment as it is, and meanwhile, the AI bubble looks very unsteady, getting ready to burst. Guess what happens to SpeaceXand the rest of the market then?
AdLib15 minutes ago
And you saw that he incited a race riot in Ireland? Againstimmigrants and PoC?
AdLib14 minutes ago
Well, I have a small but kind of good package of manufacturing assets my ex left me. I’d like not to crash and burn with the bum. But if I do, oh well, it will be worth wiping out the Tech Bros.
choicelady

As an old techie I have mixed feelings about what is going on there are some good things, not so good, and then there are those that are just damn scary.
twilson117
Ad – not only did I see it but Phil Williams, a GREAT investigative reporter for Channel 5 Nashville, showed he is tied to a seriously dangerous RW supremacist in Huntington Beach. Scary as all get out.
choicelady
CL – Just a suggestion but it may be a good time to cash out any stocks and put your money in CDs right now. Yes, they’re boring but you can still lock in 4% interest and not have to worry about being hurt byt the eventual atock market crash that most on Wall Street think is coming soon.
AdLib12 minutes ago
TW – all true.
choicelady
Ad – well, I am not sure CDs are safe either if Trump decides the FDIC won’t pay. So we have VERY conservative investments, lots of cash. I’m thinking of moving to Lake Woebegone’s “Bob’s Bank: Save at the Sign of the Sock”.
choicelady
Yes, I follow Phil on Bluesky, saw he’s starting up a podcast. That’s awful but not surprising, Musk is such a shameless racist. Like that creature in the WH.
AdLib10 minutes ago
Ad – I’ve subscribed to Phil’s blog. It’s very useful since both Greg and I have worked on anti-hate crimes laws and extremist tracking.
choicelady
CL – Trump is an idiot but he has money in banks too. And while he might declare any illegal thing he wants, the FDIC was created by Congress and a president can’t “cancel” it by fiat. It may take a court stepping in but banks won’t be wiped out.
AdLib9 minutes ago
Probably not. We are pretty OK w money in banks, bonds that are stable, and manufacturing stocks. NOTHING risky or dicey. Not all may survive, but Tom weathered 2007-9 without losing money at all.
choicelady
That said, it is a good idea to have cash in the house, well secured of course. I could see banks limiting withdrawals during a financial crisis. Like in It’s a Wonderful Life!
AdLib7 minutes ago
I learned from Fani Willis. We have a LOT of cash in small bills.
choicelady
Did you see that in his crypto ventures, the Trump family has profited $3.2 billion while all the investors in it have lost $3.2 billion. Hmm…wonder where all their money went?
AdLib5 minutes ago
We have food stockpiled, a garden in, a good AC for the guys in the garage, and we are looking into solar for the whole house.
choicelady
Ad – that’s disgusting.
choicelady
CL – You are one smart cookie!
AdLib5 minutes ago
From feudal times to now, those who live slightly outside the main operations of towns and cities did quite well. Community based everything really helps. My community of homeless people have several talents one of which is excellent dumpster diving skills.
choicelady
CL – Imagine how Trump’s crypto and Not Truth Social will crash and burn when he’s out of office/dead. Both have already gone way down but all of their value is about him. All those people who put money into each deserve to lose everything.
AdLib3 minutes ago
I am too old and too short to dive. But I’m encouraging them to stockpile canned and dry goods.
choicelady

Well folks I’m going to bug out a little early get back to my project We’re I am looking at how power works, how institutions react, and why the same mistakes repeat. It’s history and providing me with material to add depth to my writing and bring some relevance to the topics I will be writing about later.
twilson117
TW! THAT is GREAT! Please share your findings when you’re done. That is very useful information!!!
choicelady
Fascinating stuff, TW! Hope it goes well!
AdLib2 minutes ago
Good night, TW – smooth research and writing ahead!
choicelady
And meant to mention, how about the elections in CA and the crybaby Repubs thinking the election was rigged because 3/4 of LA is Dem and Dems got 3/4 of the votes for Mayor.
AdLiba minute ago
Ad – I think I’m heading out, too. Cats are being obnoxious early tonight. We ate early, and they believe, in their hearts, we owe them an early dinner. Brats. We’ll talk next week or maybe even in between?
choicelady
Those cats do not like sharing you! They love you!
AdLiba few seconds ago
The Dems got votes proportional to their registrations? Imagine that.
choicelady
a few seconds ago

Thanks, it’s been a lot of long nights with various levels of frustration as part of the process was learning how to use Access and OneNotes
twilson117
a few seconds ago
Sounds good, let’s chat next week CL. Hope to do so with TW too!
AdLiba few seconds ago
Cupboard love. I know my value. I can use a can opener.
choicelady
a few seconds ago
Good night dear friends!
choicelady
a few seconds ago

Take care all
twilson117
in a few seconds
