The biggest impact of the SCOTUS decision is it stripped Trump of so much power to extort other countries. Without the threat of massive tariffs to terrorize them, no one has to listen to a damn thing Trump wants from them and there’s nothing more he can do to them. He has been neutered.

But SCOTUS in the majority said he had no right to do what he did. The 2024 ruling that he could not be criminally cited for “official acts” does NOT mean things he did illegally I think. To be an official act one has to comport with the Constitution and laws. Otherwise it’s NOT official.

Home owner attempting to fix something and needs a particular screw that he lost when trying to do the repair goes the local hardware store as for the screw and thanks the clerk and the clerk smile so the home owner ask why he is smiling and the clerk tells him most folks who is attempting to do what he is doing come back three time. Somewhat enraged and the thought the clerk would say that to him the home owner says I won’t have to do that this will be my only trip here. The clerk smile as he walks out. He gets back home and starts on the repair and drops the screw down the drain and it’s lost. He realizes he has to go back and get another one, and gets the same clerk who the same screw ready for him he takes grumbling and hears the clerk say 1, heads home determined to get it right and again drops the screw down the drain heads back to hardware store glares at the clerk as he slides the screw over to him and say no charge for this one and that’s two. Furious he had to go back two times but he is determined to get it right this time and wouldn’t you know it he looses the screw again. Then one day he runs into the clerk and the clerk say to him well you proved me wrong you got it right on the second try. The home owner looks at him sheepishly and said no I lost the screw to I just went to a different hardware store.

We actually had snow in the coastal range. We spent this week in Fort Bragg on the coast so coming home yesterday we took the “low road”. Two hours longer but no snow.
