There was a time when I truly feared being struck by lightning. It came when I uttered these words, ‘Trump endorses the Bible.’ It’s as if I committed one of the so-called seven deadly sins or unwittingly uttered an incantation that would summon Beelzebub, and I would forever be cursed.
It’s terrible enough that several gaggles of Christian Fundamentalists sects seem to believe he is their version of the second coming of Christ, but for him to cut a spot where he is holding up a Bible and saying that he “is proud to endorse it” to me is abominable. I write this not because I’m a fan of religion. Those who know me know where I stand on religion. I believe in God, but religion is another thing entirely.
Religion is what gives us idiots like Trump and Netanyahu, who are in love with themselves and think they have the answer to everything and have powers they don’t have.
“There is a sucker born every minute” is attributed to P.T. Barnum, the consummate showman, and huckster, and it’s very evident Trump has taken several pages from Barnum’s book on how to get people to buy crap and make them believe it’s gold bullion. He demonstrated that when he was on the David Letterman show, Trump was beating up on China and was stopped in his tracks when Letterman asked in what country made his ties; he got quiet when Letterman showed him a label made in China. The words hypocrite and hypocrisy are the matched horses that draw Trump’s chariot of deceit and deception.
Donald J. Trump is despicable. And for him to have the unmitigated gall and audacity to be hawking a Bible like it’s one of his overpriced and cheaply built condos is a manifestation of his total embracement of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. He is by far one of the stupidest, unprepared, ill-equipped, power-hungry, and a complete stooge for Vladimir Putin, who was allowed to sit behind the Resolute Desk. He did nothing to make the country great again. Over one million citizens died of COVID under his watch because he was too full of himself to accept the fact he didn’t know what he was doing.
For Trump, the presidency wasn’t about governing and making this a better country at home and abroad but about how much he could grift to make his bank account bigger. How much can I rob from those he saw as suckers. And he viewed us, the American populous, as suckers. And sadly, far too many believed and bought the lies he was peddling hook, line, and sinker.
Now, he is hawking a book most people already have in their homes. It’s a compendium of sixty-six books, Biblos, what we now call The Bible. And those sixty-six books are the foundation for our version of religion we call Christianity. Trump has the unmitigated audacity to be hawking a book he’s claimed to have read many times and found inspiring, as he said in an interview with Heilemann and Halperin. It got interesting when they asked him to share some of his favorite passages. Here is the link so you can check it out.
I don’t know about you, but it sure looked like a lot of shucking and jiving on Trump’s part when Halperin asked if Trump could give them or cite one of his favorite verses. Trump wouldn’t do it. Claiming it was too personal. He couldn’t for a simple reason: he knew no biblical verses. If he had, the skies would have darkened, and there would have been thunderous noise accompanied by a prominent booming voice saying, DONALD, STOP SAYING YOU READ THE BIBLE, YOU DON’T. I KNOW YOU DON’T. AND YOU CAN’T BS ME. THERE IS NO CHANGING IT. YOU’RE GOING TO BE SATAN’S AND MAZIKEEN’S NEW PLAY TOY! ITS A DONE DEAL, SO GET USE TO IT!
So now, Trump is hawking Bibles. Not just any Bible, this Bible has more than what was approved by the Council of Trent, which only contained what we call the Old and New Testaments, as pointed out here:
“The Council emphasized that these books, both from the Old and New Testaments, were divinely inspired and essential for preserving the purity of the Gospel within the church. The decree aimed to safeguard the integrity of Christian doctrine and practice by defining the authoritative Scriptures.”
The funny thing about the Council of Trent’s approval of what they considered the sacred Biblical texts was that they didn’t include anyone’s Constitution, Bill of Rights, Pledge of Allegiance, or lyrics to a song that blessed only one particular country.
Trump and people like him are one of the many reasons I have an impassion dislike for organized religion, so seeing Trump doing a video proclaiming his love for the Bible and using it as a political tool geared toward advocating for the nationalization of religion by promoting a Bible documents that pertain only to the establishment of the United States, it’s time to put on the brakes.
Hawking a Bible with the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Pledge of Allegiance, and the lyrics to Lee Greenwood’s God Bless America puts people and this country on the road to Perdition. The necromancers who came up with this bastardization of the Bible aren’t doing it because they believe in the word of God but in the almighty dollar. And for sure, it’s the only reason Trump has agreed to hype this damn nonsense. And if these money-grabbing fake Christians bother actually to study the book they claim to revere, perhaps they would realize they are going contrary to God’s law regarding idolatry and our principles around separating church and state.
“When you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, zither, triangular harp, stringed instrument, bagpipe, and her other musical instruments, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Who does not fall and worship will immediately be thrown into the burning fiery furnace.”—Daniel chapter 3 versus 3-7.
What idolatry, you ask. Well, let’s make it easy for ourselves. For some, the Bible is the Bible. There is nothing else attached to it. There is no Pledge of Allegiance, Declaration of Independence, or Constitution. So if you make those documents part of a book they consider sacred and the word of God, they might find it offensive to have items of the state as part of their book they consider holy, especially if they adhere to the concept of separation of church and state as laid out in our constitution. Why would they need those “state documents” in their Bible?
One could say, ‘Well, they don’t have to buy that Bible.’ That is true. We are still relatively free, and we can choose what we want to read, what music we want to listen to, and what movies we want to see. For now, we are free citizens. But our form of government and governing is not guaranteed as a democracy. For it to survive and thrive, participation and engagement are required. This picture on January 6 is vital for us to consider, along with Trump trying to make a buck off selling Bibles. There is much one can say about seeing this desecration of the capital. The idiot carrying it and the flag symbolize a time when we should never want to return. And yet, some seem to think we would be better off if we did indeed “return to the times of the land forgotten.”
What I say to that is NEVER! The idiot in this picture bought Trump’s lies that Biden stole the election from him. He and his addled brain followers continue to peddle lies about whole-scale election interference when there was none. All those who continue on that path also know it’s not true, but it gives them gravitas in the eyes of Trump, and they believe if they keep saying, he will remember them and put them in his administration. So, for fools like the one in the picture who stormed the Captial on January 6, his Bible commercial will be a hit with them, and they willingly will drop sixty dollars of their hard-earned money on a book they will never read.
If Trump wins the election, how long will it take him to make it mandatory? He said he would be a dictator on day one. Does anyone believe he will stop being a dictator at the stroke of midnight? Trump will make having that Bible part of determining if one will get citizenship status. It will be one of the many loyalty tests he will set up to determine if you qualify for citizenship. As to moving the country toward dictatorship, we have access to the Heritage Foundation Project 2025 Playbook, a mixed bag of various views around governance that seems slanted toward moving back toward a monochromatic racial construct.
In other words, white leadership in all the positions that matter, implementation of totalitarian border policies, unjustified prosecution of Biden cabinet members, pull out of NATO so Putin can be the 21st century Hitler and finish his invasion of Ukraine along with the reconstitution of the old Soviet Union.
While the world is burning, our version of Nero, Trump, will fiddle away like nothing is amiss, and this great democracy we’ve had for over two hundred years will be another fallen empire because of one man, Donald J.
