It’s supposed to decline to a Tropical Storm which is the level below Cat 1 hurricane. Wind gusts could be up to 60 MPH and the amount of rain is supposed to be enormous.

Yes, it sill not only help us fill more water supply now that Summer has lowered it but there are fires in the area here and up north, it will help knock those down and help keep the brush moist in the middle of fire season…even though fire season is kind of year round now.

TW – Well…if that’s the case, it was terribly short sighted to not buy insurance just because you don’t owe a mortgage. It’s even more sensible to pay for insurance when you don’t have the burden of a mortgage payment, to protect your equity. But I know many people in HI don’t necessarily have a lot of money. Even so, with hurricanes coming around the area yearly, seems short-sighted.

I don’t buy trip insurance when I fly, my credit card and federal laws help out if something happens on my trip but I’m willing to pay the rare expense since I have more money in my pocket even if a rare incident was to happen. We’ve been to HI a few times and yes, many things are more expensive since it’s an island and you can’t use trucks and trains to ship goods and very little is manufactured there relatively. So yes, expensive generally speaking but the small indigenous towns like Lahaina are more reasonable, especially for longtime residents who shop for more local goods. It’s a beautiful place, wonderful destination for a holiday but just a side note, after 5 days or so, one may get a bit of “island sickness”. Living on an island is a different mindset.

CL – Homeowners doesn’t pay some damages but could pay others. The thing is, I think we’d be far better off financially to get a FEMA loan then paying double our homeowners, 15% deductible on only 40%–50% of our damages.
