Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!

AdLib3 hours ago

On mobile, listen only. Too small kboard

pinkpantheroz

You can use voice to text, I find that so much easier when doing Vox on my phone.

AdLib2 hours ago

Hi glenn! How are you doing this evening?

AdLiban hour ago

PPL, I use voice to text all the time in fact I’m using it now

glenn

PPO left before he saw my and your comments.

AdLiban hour ago

Doing OK AD, how about you?

glenn

Doing fine this way too. How is your granddaughter doing?

AdLiban hour ago

She’s doing well thanks for asking. She’s studying for finals. She gets done the first week in May which isn’t that far away. How’s your daughter doing

glenn

So how do you feel about the dominion lawsuit? I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see all of the “” stars on TV but the fact that they settled is very telling her I think.

glenn

Isn’t she graduating sooner due to accelerated classes? My daughter is doing the same, finals coming up soon and playing softball.

AdLiban hour ago

Yes but she’s still in her junior year right now. I think she begins her senior year in the fall.

glenn

I’m disappointed that Dominion didn’t go to trial but hard to turn down that settlement. They are after all a private company, our government should be going after Fox for giving aid and comfort to enemies of our democracy.

AdLiban hour ago

Right, she’s a year ahead though now, right?

AdLiban hour ago

I agree with you about the government. But I don’t think the DOJ is going to do anything as long as Merrick Garland is in charge.

glenn

I would like Jack Smith to be AG.

AdLiban hour ago

Fox needs to be taken down and any entity helping to overthrow our democracy like Newsmax and OANN should be hammered too. They don’t have to be put out of business but their support of destroying democracy needs to stop.

AdLiban hour ago

Hey TW!

AdLiban hour ago

Good evening everyone sorry I’m late.

twilson117

Had an interesting conversation on the way to dialysis yesterday. Was riding with a woman and we were talking about the gas stations here in Florida being closed due to the shortage of gas. And this woman was like oh it’s all Biden‘s fault. And I just blew it either just turned on her and said it is not Biden‘s fault it’s because we’ve had all this rain and the trucks can’t get to Port Everglades to deliver the gas. Then she started talking about how nine-year-olds are being put into labor camps. And I’m like what are you talking about?. Then I asked her about the Dominion lawsuit I said what do you think about fox having to pay $787 million for lying about the election? And she answers what are you talking about? I never heard anything about that. And I said so you listen to Fox News all the time right? So her aid was with her and her aid looked it up and said no she’s right it’s right here and she read it started reading the article to the lady and she was just pissed and just wouldn’t say another word to me for the rest of the trip

glenn

On other news stories, glad to see Musk blow up $12B of his wealth this week like his rocket.

AdLiban hour ago

Hey TW. How are you

glenn

glenn – Heh-heh! Can’t say I expect much more brain activity let alone independent thought in people who are glued to Fox News but that’s pretty funny that her aide pointed it out to her.

AdLiban hour ago

Glenn good how are you, just reading your comments on the woman who is totally ignorant of current events.

twilson117

And then they either shut up when confronted with the truth or insist you can’t trust anything that didn’t come from Fox News.

AdLiban hour ago

You’re too kind a D. I want to see fox put out of business

glenn

Glenn so it’s Uncle Joe’s fault that the rains fell in FL and the trucks can’t deliver gas, gee if he has that kind of power I want to hit him up for a few million to just appear in my bank account.

twilson117

And while Repubs are imprisoning minors in states to keep them from getting abortions, passing laws to bring back child labor including around heavy machinery and justifying laws to let grown men marry and rape 12 year old girls, it’s Biden who’s a threat to kids.

AdLiban hour ago

I’m good TW. Yes it just blows my mind how ignorant some folks actually are. And then when you tell them the truth they don’t want to discuss it anymore and it doesn’t change their mind one iota.

glenn

TW, don’t you know that everything is Biden’s fault? Afterwards I thought I should have asked her what is DeSantis doing about all of this? But I was already at dialysis. Anyway not sure it would’ve done any good.

glenn

Glenn you hit it on the head. Far too many people can’t handle the truth.

twilson117

TW – MAGAs haven’t got two brain cells to rub together to create a spark of intelligence. If a hurricane comes, it’s Biden’s fault. They burn the toast, yep, Biden did it. They get a speeding ticket, that damn Biden! And don’t forget, everything bad can also be called “woke”. They are de facto cult members who are given their orders to view everything bad as naturally the fault of those deemed their “enemies”/

AdLiban hour ago

A.D., all GOP laws are projections more or less. While they accuse liberals of all those things that you’re talking about then they go ahead and pass laws like those. I just don’t get it

glenn

Hey Murph!

AdLiban hour ago

Murph is in the house

twilson117

Hey Murph. How are you tonight

glenn

Ad well put.

twilson117

glenn – Because the real “game” to them is to always build up justifications for being such frightened and hateful drones.

AdLiban hour ago

Hello All….just read thought the discussion stream…so I am up to date.

MurphTheSurf3

You know I think about this often. How can people our age, excuse me my age, be so damn bullheaded? After all we were are the ones who benefited so much from liberal policies. We were the generation that was able to build our wealth on our houses through the G.I. bill and through other incentives. We also worked for a companies who cared about us. Or at least cared enough to set up pension plans. I just don’t get why they don’t see how Trump is just pulling the wool over their eyes. I just don’t understand it. Sorry for rambling but it blows my mind.

glenn

All. you know I just can’t believe everything I’ve seen take place over the years. I thought things would get better but they have just gone the hell in a handbasket.

twilson117

You can’t have a constructive conversation with cultists because conversations are just about spouting the propoganda drilled into them and justifying their fear and hatred. Meanwhile, a Dem tries to have a reasoned back and forth and can’t understand why it won’t work. Once you learn, you know they’re mostly incapable of having discussions based on reason.

AdLiban hour ago

TW, I am hoping that the pendulum has finally finally swung to far right and people are getting fed up with Republicans and their extremism. That’s my fervent hope anyway

glenn

Glenn, you make a good point. I often wonder about it myself.

twilson117

Glenn, well I’ve heard some of the your state repubs are getting tired of DeSantis, I’m not sure if that’s all try or just a fever dream of the press.

twilson117

Three things to pass along 1) The best summary of the dynamics around how Fox works with and meets the expectations of its profit making audience at

https://link.msnbc.com/view/63e3d7be4824bfb3560900beiljdd.aoki/52bff9c0

2) And two biting bits of sarcastic parody re. the MAGA Phenomenon at MAGA-ZINE

https://airmail.news/maga-zine

This Just In: “MAGA-zine,” Volume 2!

MurphTheSurf3

Hey D, I guess that’s what I can’t understand though. The fact that what they are hearing and what is being drilled into them doesn’t fit with what is actually happening and they can see what’s actually happening. I don’t know. I guess it’s me

glenn

glenn – People can become petrified in their political cultism and any age, think of all the young men who have destroyed their lives and the lives of innocents as raging MAGAs on 1/6 and lone wolf murderers. When many people get older, especially those who weren’t really politically involved, they get self-centered and more motivated by fear. They’re afraid of the younger generations and want someone to stop them from having power over them. But I know plenty of older folks who are very liberal too. I think the state you’re in makes a difference and many Repubs in FL.

AdLiban hour ago

TW, it’s not necessarily some of the Republicans in my state but some of the big donors. One of the biggest donors to DeSantis in the republican party here in Florida has said that DeSantis has gone too far with his war against Disney and the banning of books and the abortion ban. Do you believe that?

glenn

Thanks Murph, will check them out after Vox.

AdLiban hour ago

Glenn, I read about that and I also read there are more following his lead. Trump is destroying him and DeSantis hasn’t even officially declared he is running.

twilson117

AD, yeah you’re right too many Republicans in here in Florida. I did meet another liberal from my facility on the way back from dialysis today so that’s a plus. And she says she knows several other people in the community who are liberal like she is. So that did my heart good.

glenn

Glenn, I have to believe folks there have to be just a bit peeved he is off campaigning while there are gas shortages and flooding. He should have his butt home working on those problems instead of running for an office he will never get not to mention is not qualified to hold.

twilson117

One of my students from many years past works at WDW in their Planning Division (Imagineering Plus) and he tells me that DeSantis has failed to accept a maxim of business sense that Florida embraces: DON’T MESS WITH THE MOUSE!

MurphTheSurf3

What seems to be happening is that Repubs who have power in states are pushing the pedal to the medal in defiance and desperation, as the American voting population is clearly swinging well against them nationally, not to mention that the youth vote is so powerfully pushing Dems to win nearly everywhere. They see the status quo is untenable but instead of moving their views back towards the majority of Americans, they are trying to rig the election system to keep winning as extremists. I hope Dems win back unitary control of DC, kill the filibuster and pass voting rights laws that cut off these anti-democracy extremists at the knees for good and all.

AdLiban hour ago

Murph everyone thinks the mouse is bad, it’s the duck you got to worry about.

twilson117

glenn – I heard it said on MSNBC that due to DeSatan killing covid restrictions…and killing lots of elderly people in the bargain, there was a big influx of RW elederly to FL because they wanted to escape quarrantines in the states they were in. Could help explain this and DeSatan’s 20 point win.

AdLib44 minutes ago

(Disney World outperforms California’s Disneyland). Disney World does wonders for the Florida economy. According to a 2011 report, “The $18.2 billion in annual economic activity generated locally by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts accounts for 2.5 percent of Florida’s gross domestic product. When you factor in the hotels, restaurants, car renters, airlines and other smaller attractions that depend on Disney to anchor it all that 2.5 percent jumps to 5.2 percent.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – How can a bully no one actually likes win a PR battle with The Wonderful World of Disney. Not possible for the rat to beat the mouse (as CL coined last week).

AdLib42 minutes ago

Ad, in Vermin wars who ya gonna back…..the rat or the mouse?

MurphTheSurf3

All, I keep hearing repugs talking about their states being laboratories of democracy. Well, don’t they know laboratories of democracy will lead to numerous Frankenstein’s?

twilson117

it’s silly that some people are suggesting Disney should leave FL. They couldn’t walk away from the massive entertainment and revenue generating facilities they built there. Instead, they are more empowered through who they are and all the jobs and tourism they bring in to take on DeSatan who won’t be mayor forever while Disney will.

AdLib40 minutes ago

Perhaps it’s time for DeSantis to go back and visit his parents I’m sure they’re still swimming around in the swamps there if FL.

twilson117

Sorry I’m jumping back in the conversation and kind of the middle again. Yes a D I agree that some people suggesting Disney leaving Florida is really dumb. I did see an article the other day where South Carolina made an invitation to Disney to come to their state. But it would take 10 to 15 years for Disney to build the infrastructure that they have here in Florida

glenn

Ad….Disney is actually doubling down……two new hotels are going up and three more are on the way….one thing that Disney is talking about is centering more of its overall traffic toward resort guests since the state seems set on disrupting easy access to the parks.

MurphTheSurf3

I was in FL recently, limited my spending to deny DeSatan’s government much of my money, went to Disney Springs and it is incredible, what a secondary area they built there, seperate from DisneyWorld, Epcot, etc. You can’t push around that kind of economic power and vision. Disney execs may not be the greatest human beings but they get huge things done.

AdLib38 minutes ago

DIsney will be their well after DeSantis is long gone.

twilson117

TW – FL is a laboratory that even Dr. Frankenstein would have run from screaming.

AdLib37 minutes ago

Yes DeSantis has bitten off more than he can chew with his fight with Disney. But he’s a petty little little bully just like the other treasonous lying bully we have.

glenn

Ad, you got that right.

twilson117

All right gents. I’ve vented enough for one night and I’m really having difficulty keeping my eyes open. Dialysis still just does me in. Anyway great chatting with you all and I hope to be here next week.

glenn

glenn – Yes, saw that too (though I think it was a politician in NC) but it’s just a goof. Of course Disney couldn’t just pick up their empire in Orlando and carry it to another state.

AdLib36 minutes ago

Any thoughts about what SCOTUS will do in re. to its own internal corruption?

MurphTheSurf3

Glenn take care good to see you tonight.

twilson117

Glenn…good to be with you.

MurphTheSurf3

Thanks Murph NTW. Good

glenn

Murph – Yes and Disney is planning to build affordable housing as well, probably to help their many thousands of employees who they don’t pay as well as they should, to be frank. But the cost of insurance in FL is skyrocketing further this year, some people will be forced out of their homes…but at least they’re not teaching gay CRT abortions in schools.

AdLib34 minutes ago

Murph the country is in deep trouble with the actions of certain members on the court.

twilson117

Thomas needs to resign.

twilson117

Imagine, DeSantis having to keep up a fight on two fronts, one against the most evil and despicable man besides him and the other with a widely beloved Magic Kingdom. DeSatan is getting cracked between them like a stale walnut.

AdLib32 minutes ago

Ad….and that affordable housing creates more self contained Disney communities that will funnel money paid by WDW back to WDW via rent, retail sales etc….all at economical prices which will increase worker satisfaction etc. etc.

MurphTheSurf3

De Santis thinks he is playing checkers but it is chess and Mickey and Pals are Grandmasters.

MurphTheSurf3

And how many of Florida’s pols are backing his WH bid??????

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – The good news so far is that the Thomas crimes aren’t fading away, Dems and journalists are still moving forward with it. Thomas is so corrupt but he clearly thinks no one can stop him or do anything to him. Dems can absolutely leverage that if they win Congress and the WH in 2024 to insist on expanding the court to remove his power as a SCOTUS judge and the public that despises this SCOTUS will support the expansion broadly.

AdLib30 minutes ago

DeSantis is out of his league with Disney and Igor is back at the helm, it’s my belief Igor will make mincemeat of the lad.

twilson117

Have you seen the pics of DeSantis signing bills related to thought control in FL schools with a line of school kids standing frozen and unhappy behind “that really scary man.”

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Yep, it is a smart economic decision and no doubt there are all kinds of state and federal grants for building affordable housing so Disney profits from multiple directions for doing so.

AdLib29 minutes ago

Ad…consider how little Fortas did and how quickly he and the Chief acted to get him off to the side.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph, I can only image they look like the pictures of the Russian kids in the 60’s 70’s having the forces smiles on their faces.

twilson117

TW…..yep, that would be the look.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph, at least Fortas had respect for the court and the position he held to resign.

twilson117

DeSantis is not a good politician. He is only a bully just as Trump is, neither have a constructive vision for the people, both abuse their power to benefit themselves. In a state with a supermajority legislature, DeSatan thinks he’s so powerful but in the real world, he’s seen as the miserable beast he is.

AdLib27 minutes ago

Ad…..and that supermajority is not exactly in love with DeS either but he is who they have to play with…given an option…???

MurphTheSurf3

Ad I read a piece about someone who was in Congress with him and sitting next to him and DeSantis wouldn’t even have general conversation with him.

twilson117

Murph – Yes, it is sad that the post-Trump world means that the most deceitful, criminal, lying judges can just refuse to resign from the highest court in the land. Who knows, maybe Thomas loves the idea of destroying the nation’s sense of justice so the authoritarian coup he and his miserable wife want would be more likely.

AdLib25 minutes ago

You know that Fortas stepping down turned the Court from pro Dem to pro GOP because of the replacement made. And yet, ALL of the pols, on both sides, backed the move.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad…..and yet another of America’s supposedly fantastic constitution mechanisms, the threat of impeachment, has been found to be a hollow facade.

MurphTheSurf3

Ok Murph I have to talk about the cow in the room, what is going to happen to the 84 gun totting fox watching old fart who shot the young man who rang his doorbell thinking his brother was there but at the wrong house, and according to the shooter, he was 6ft and he is only 5’7”?

twilson117

A quick side note, I just bought an external hard drive for storage and it is a little smaller than the size of a deck of cards and holds 5TB of data. I am still in awe. Not even close to the book-sized drives I have that hold less data and I bought just a few years ago. It is so cool…to a computer nerd like me. And only $100!

AdLib22 minutes ago

AD…techno wiz on a budget! WooHoo!

MurphTheSurf3

TW….gun madness is so much afoot in the land…..there have been a half a dozen shootings of the innocent who a gun toter assumed to be bad guys when in fact it was them who was warped.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Your Fortas reference also reminds me of Al Franken stepping down after Gillibrand and other Dem grandstanders attacked him for what was not an illegal act but an adolescent joke that harmed no one. Dems act like they have to respect the dignity of government and Repubs drop their pants and drop a load wherever they please. Like MTG tried to do in that hearing this week and got shut down and cut off for. Loved that!

AdLib20 minutes ago

What is going to happen to these shooters of the innocent….who knows…….there is no consistent model to draw from.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad, I’ve been to your great state a couple of times but, I’m considering dropping it from my list of places to visit.

twilson117

Murph – Yes, as we discussed I think last week, Congress needs new replacements for impeachment because it is a de-clawed hamster now.

AdLib19 minutes ago

Ad I remain SO angry about how unjust the Franken purge was and at what cost! As to MTB….she was shut down by her own GOP chair because he HAD TO given that the Dem senior member read him chapter and verse…..so now MTG is trying to organize an effort to change the rules.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad, I heard and read the charges he is facing have the potential for life in prison, he’s 84. My guess he may get charged but he won’t get life if convicted.

twilson117

Murph – To anyone but the MAGA gun cult, the fact that all these unbalanced people are sitting around their homes with loaded guns to shoot any innocent person who mistakenly shows up, the gun epidemic is at a breaking point. Guns need heavy regulation and assault weapons need to be nationally banned.

AdLib17 minutes ago

My last comment was meant for you Murph

twilson117

TW – Huh? Why wouldn’t you want to visit Cali?

AdLib16 minutes ago

TW…the description of this old man tell me that he was a scared to death shut in made afraid by a constant diet of right wing paranoia……

MurphTheSurf3

Ad, I meant that for Murph

twilson117

TW…..I agree with your choice of states to put a red line through.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph that is pretty much what his grandson said.

twilson117

TW…yes…..I felt for him when I saw how he appeared when he entered his plea.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Of course, McCarthy won’t step on MTG’s toes but even with so many extreme MAGAs in the House, I don’t think they’ll change the rules to allow members to verbally attack invitees and other members. That would blow up Roberts Rules as well, then what decorum is left?

AdLib14 minutes ago

AD LIB….decorum…..they don’t need no stinkin decorum……

MurphTheSurf3

It’s getting crazy with guns, the people who got shot at because a basketball roll on the lawn. It’s just plain crazy.

twilson117

TW – You never know what will happen when old white men are tried for shooting innocent young black men but if he doen’t get a serious sentence, I think the streets will be packed with protests and the Repubs in power surely know that.

AdLib13 minutes ago

Ad she got shot down for that by a fellow Repub.

twilson117

When there are so many guns….and so much propaganda about “stand your ground” and “the castle doctrine” joined to adoring coverage of 2nd Amendment Citizen Action…..this sort of vigilantism is bound to be.

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Decorum to MTG is like trying to teach a snail about critical thinking.

AdLib11 minutes ago

We have discussed this before we lead the world in gun ownership.

twilson117

Ad the snail would understand CT, but clearly wonder what MTG is all about.

twilson117

TW – Yep, the Dems pointed out that MTG violated explicit rules for which there is an explicit punishment of being denied any further participation in that hearing.

AdLib10 minutes ago

Ad….so MTG wants to change those rules…

MurphTheSurf3

Ad I liked when she ask for point of personal inquiry and was told there is no such thing. Brought a smile to my face.

twilson117

TW…she mixed up “point of personal privilege” and “procedural inquiry”

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – That’s the thing, this is now so obvious that the NRA’s push of mass gun ownership, Stand Your Ground, Castle Doctrine and killing restrictions is the ONLY and CLEAREST reason for all of these senseless shootings. There is no need to look anywhere else. No logical alternative.

AdLib8 minutes ago

Ad the Repub who was chair of that committee is one of those who didn’t support MacCarthy.

twilson117

Ad…and let us add the rocket fuel….fear, anxiety, anger, alienation, “the other”

MurphTheSurf3

TW – The snail would say, “Hey, some of this may be over my head but what’s the story on that gross, slimy thing over there?” “Oh, that’s MTG.” “And they want to exterminate me?”

AdLib7 minutes ago

Murph, mixed them up, or just doesn’t know what the F, she is talking about?

twilson117

TW….I did not know that about the chair…Interesting…

MurphTheSurf3

Ad

twilson117

TW….could be both mixed up and stupid

MurphTheSurf3

Heading for the door guys……planting time!

MurphTheSurf3

Murph since you gave me a choice I will take stupid for 20

twilson117

TW – Yes, same here, when her “point of personal inquiry” was shot down as non-existent, I think it was so enjoyable.

AdLib5 minutes ago

TW…and the answer is……

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – You’re right, the Fox News fear and hate machine has blood on its hands too.

AdLib5 minutes ago

Murph, the answer is, read Robert Rules of Order.

twilson117

TW….Robert

MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Before you go, talking about rockets, did you see Musk blow up $12B of his wealth this week?

AdLib4 minutes ago

TW….Robert’s rules are just the start of what needs to be understood…but the reps have lots of coaching available if they are willing to use it.

MurphTheSurf3

And did you see that the Trump judge on the 5th Circuit that tried to outlaw the abortion pill has been hiding that he owns millions of dollars in a stock that got contributions from Hawley and his wife…who brought the abortion pill case to him?

AdLib2 minutes ago

Murph, agree but she is too busy getting her ugly mug on Fox, OAN, and Newsmax to be bothered to learn the rules.

twilson117

Ad…I did see it………of note many of the tech folk that are not a part of Space X are saying that the course of development of rockets is often visited by blowups like this……what makes these particularly stinging is how much hubris Musk brings to the game.

MurphTheSurf3

Whoops, mixed up my last comment. He owns millions of stock in a company he has hidden the name of AND took donations from the Hawleys then ruled on Mrs. Hawley’s abortion pill case.

AdLiba minute ago

Ad…and that same judge his a number of appearances, associations and writings when he was confirmed.

MurphTheSurf3

Ad…got it.

MurphTheSurf3

a few seconds ago

The alarm clocks are set….so I am off to bed…..see y’all next week.

MurphTheSurf3

a few seconds ago

Murph – Yes, I know rocket science is trial and error but I don’t believe for one second that the idea was to let it blow up.

AdLibin a few seconds

Ad heard that he did that to make sure he would get confirmed.

twilson117

in a few seconds

Take care Murph

twilson117

in a few seconds

Yep, he is as much a perjurer as most of the SCOTUS judges.

AdLibin a few seconds

Up for a call?

AdLibin a few seconds

Yep

twilson117

in a few seconds

My turn to call…incoming!

AdLibin a few second
