Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey TW! AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey man how’s it going twilson117 2 hours ago
Not bad, hate to see a state like GA end democracy but otherwise, okay. How about you? AdLib 2 hours ago
I thing the world is going to hell in a hand basket especially with the Georgia voting rights law twilson117 2 hours ago
Shame over being racist seems to have totally evaporated in the GOP and their hateful voters. AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi PPO! AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi all! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Hey Murph! AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey PPO twilson117 2 hours ago
Hey Murph twilson117 2 hours ago
Delta, Coca cola need to boycott the place. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Evening Ad, TW and there are references to PPO who I do not see yet. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I’m here, Murph, see you fine pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
click more users? pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
I should open a catering company that provides water and pizza to voters standing in line for one penny…and provide a big tray of pennies labeled, “Take or leave one”. AdLib 2 hours ago
In GA of course. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ya, you probably would get arrested for providing the pennies twilson117 2 hours ago
Did you all catch the image behind the desk with the ALL WHITE MALE signers/witnesses to the electoral reform bill….one of the most notorious plantations in GA. All they needed was hoods and a burnng cross. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
The law doesn’t say I can’t give pennies to voters. AdLib 2 hours ago
43 states have something similar twilson117 2 hours ago
2 blocks from the booths, street trade permit. set up and hand out as people head for the queue. Charge 1 cent, with 100% discount Today only! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
It would probably be better to just have tons of people performing civil disobedience and handing it all out in numbers that overwhelm police. AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph, and the state Senator arrested because she was so uppity as to knock on the Governors door! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Ad, they could then claim danger and close the booths pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
So if you can’t win an election because you don’t have a compelling message just cheat, looks like they learn well from their Sith master Trump** twilson117 2 hours ago
Not legal to claim danger from feeding people and giving them water but they might do it anyway. Crowd source to have a ton of people stepping in as others are taken away. AdLib 2 hours ago
Poor fox had its knickers in a twist not being singled out for a question! Press Secretary kicked thenm to the kerb pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Do you think these GA voter suppression laws and those on the way in other states will make passing HR 1 and the John Lewis Voting Rights bill, removing the filibuster for them, is more likely because of this assault on voting rights? AdLib 2 hours ago
1.6 billion law suit coming at fox news twilson117 2 hours ago
Ridiculous press conference….not a question on COVID, or the Rescue Bill, or international dangers or…..it was border, border, border…….poor pressperformance. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad….without all 50 Dem Senators HR 1 is dead in the water. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
TW – I love it, this is the way to either tame or put Fox, Newsmax, etc. out of the propaganda biz. AdLib 2 hours ago
A twilson117 2 hours ago
Criticism of Biden for having notes, but dumbly protest that they had a FOLDER full of questions! Laughable. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Those suits will prove effective IF courts find for the litigants. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad I think the will try to settle which for me is just as good as losing because it means they know they were wrong. twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – What is wrong with the WHPC being such suckers for the RW propaganda push? The border is absolutely NOT the most dangerous issue right now and it was worse down there under Trump! AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad, thry tought it is a weak point for Joe. Not a single question on the pandemic. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Murph I’m thinking they PC haven’t recovered from Trump** yet. They need to get their sea legs back and do some real reporting. twilson117 2 hours ago
Meanwhile here in Missouri our state legislature is moving to pass the forming of the Minutemen of Missouri, a strictly state controlled militia, apart from National Guard. More gun legislation! That’s the move behind this. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph – Right, that’s why I saked if all these voter suppression laws will force Manchin to go along with the other 49 Dems on it. AdLib 2 hours ago
TW agree, maybe recruit some real journalists at last. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Ad…the WHPC goes for the hot topic of the moment…..increasingly lazy and unprepared in my judgment. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO – Wait for Fox to complain that Biden pronounces the names of countries too correctly. AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph, what possible reason is there for such a group? pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Murph I put a short piece up on my website about SC wanting to do the same thing. What’s wrong with these folks they have a militia it’s as you said the National Guard twilson117 2 hours ago
PPO….all part of the “state’s rights” “anti-federalist” pro gun agenda. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
TW – Yes, they will likely try to settle without admitting guilt but the amount they may still have to pay could be huge. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad Rupert can afford it twilson117 2 hours ago
Dominion’s not going to want Fox to do this again in 2022 and 2024 so they have to make a settlement hurt. AdLib 2 hours ago
TW…the National Guard is “corrupted” by its split loyalty – state vs. national MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph – That’s pretty scary. What would this official racist milita have authorization to do? Lynchings? Keeping black kids out of schools? Killing black men for no reason? AdLib 2 hours ago
It looks as if the USA is coming apart. Will it survive another century? pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Murph As you know they are part of the Army, also since every state has NG in their state what is the need for a state special militia? The SC senator only comes up with this when there is a Dem in the wh twilson117 2 hours ago
Murph – The WHPC are mostly a bunch of spineless, egocentric hacks who let Trump destroy them then think they’re so bold to regurgitate RW propaganda to attack Biden. Hacks. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad…the mandate for the group is so general that its purpose is left largely to the imagination of the State Commander, i.e. the Governor. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO it’s is very troubling very. twilson117 2 hours ago
TW….being part of the Army, the NATIONAL, FEDERALLY CONTROLLED, ARMY….is the issue. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Murph and TW – However, if any state militia faces off with the National Guard or US military, they will be decimated. AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey CL! AdLib an hour ago
HiCL pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Evenin’ all – great to see you! choicelady an hour ago
Murph so they what a reason to start another civil war. twilson117 an hour ago
Hey AD, PPO, MUrph, and Twilson. choicelady an hour ago
Hello CL twilson117 an hour ago
TW, why would anyone want a civil war and destroy themselves? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad…one of the MSNBC reporters I respect a lot said the the WHPC has a lot of makeup work to do and that yesterdays presser was such a bad performance that they are asking to be ignored. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
CHOICE! MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
MURPH! choicelady an hour ago
Murph – It’s awful but allowing Govs to have private militias he/she controls will eventually lead to a terrible conflict. Imagine the BLM protests in those states and a Gov turning a heavily armed, state-sponsored militia loose on them. Madness. AdLib an hour ago
The WHPC is so used to being lied at, they just gave up asking anything meaningful. Now they have to regroup and do their bloody jobs! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Whether all of this talk of a state controlled independent militia has any reality to it or not…it kicks up lots of dust and feeds the GOP frenzy. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – why does every dumb cluck (euphemism here) think he or she can take over democracy and run things for just themselves? choicelady an hour ago
The SC State Senator made his proposal to keep Dem’s for coming for people’s guns, he figures if everyone over 17 and a legal gun owner is in a militia there is no way they can have their guns take away. twilson117 an hour ago
I scanned your discussion of state militias and wish to barf. choicelady an hour ago
What many of these states are pushing will require more, not less Federal intervention, supervision and control. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – The only way the US survives as a democracy is if the voting rights bills are passed. Those could keep power out of the hands of the autocrats for a long time, long enough to put in guardrails to protect Americans and our democracy from these would-be tyrants. AdLib an hour ago
CL, they had a model to imitate for 4 years and now thinnk they’d get away with anything. This is why The Former Guy needs to be charged and judged. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – THAT was only a matter of time. State militias, no gun control. choicelady an hour ago
PPO – totally agree. choicelady an hour ago
Sad comment on Twitter that it is easier to get an AR-15 than it is to vote pinkpantheroz an hour ago
If HR I passes in the Senate…it will be challenged repeatedly by states…..for years to come. Obamacare all over again. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – I was very glad to see the WHPC just trashed in much of the media after their terrible performance in Biden’s press conference. Kind of amusing that they first ran with the RW propaganda hype that Biden had been avoiding giving a press conference then when he does, he looks solid and they look like fools. AdLib an hour ago
The people in the various state houses really do not understand what they are asking for. They think all this will make they free it will only move them more to being taken over by a smooth talking authoritarian twilson117 an hour ago
Murph – And I wonder if state-run militias are constitutional federally and in states. AdLib an hour ago
Ad……Biden came across as well prepared, direct, honest and assured. Many in PC hated all of that. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, who would fund them? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
And…if you don’t think these bozos are up and at ’em yet, yesterday I was alone in my office that is in a church. A church. And while it may have been a homeless person, SOMEONE was on our ROOF. I had a LOT of RW trouble for being public about just these things, and I have no idea who it was but it scared the peewaden out of me. The sheriff came, didn’t find anyone, but I will NOT go back when my exe. director isn’t there. I’m sick of these people. choicelady an hour ago
PPO – In GA, you can give a voter standing in line an assault rifle but not a bottle of water. AdLib an hour ago
TW and Ad…..that is my point. They are forcing the fed to be even more present and in control in these rogue level actions. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph is it so refreshing to see someone who knows what they’re doing and making sense for a change. twilson117 an hour ago
Ad, that’s sick. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad – the new strategy is for everyone to get a gun permit because it’s cheaper and more accessible than driver’s licenses. And won’t THAT put the RW panties in a wad? Black people w gun permits? choicelady an hour ago
Murph – Of course HR 1 will be fought by states but I don’t think even the SCOTUS would put it on hold in the meantime, choosing voter suppression instead. A step too far for them, I think. AdLib an hour ago
Muprh I think this is where we have to say “forgive them father for they know not what they do, in the mean time let me knock some sense into them” 🙂 twilson117 an hour ago
TW – LOL!!! I quite like that! choicelady an hour ago
Choice…..here in Mo. the state legislature has now voted to respond to a state wide referendum making expanded medicaid a mandate….by….denying any funding for it. Yep….so much for the will of the people. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
TW, true, and it is killing the PC that he doesn’t go walkabout and ramble shite. They actually have to form real questions. ‘ How d’ya spell infrastructure, eh? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Just like the ACA was not blocked by the SCOTUS while it was being litigated, I don’t think HR 1 would be because states have no proof it would cause harm. AdLib an hour ago
Murph – that impacts my friend. I think it impacts a lot whom you counseled on getting ACA. Eff ’em. choicelady an hour ago
CL…I love the gun permit idea…..of course in most red state this is not required, or in many cases, even available. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad – Even this SCOTUS has not backed a lot of laws designed to help the RW. I’m cautiously optimistic here. choicelady an hour ago
TW – What seems to be the case for me is that Repubs are just fine with an authoritarian taking over as long as he/she hates who they hate and is willing to harm them, as Trump was. These are narrowminded, hateful people who blindly accept their own destruction as long as they can see those they hate destroyed. Nihilists. AdLib an hour ago
I”m also – bear with me – quite supportive of the all-Black militias. I’m not a separatist as they are, but I love their moxie and their refusal to roll over. choicelady an hour ago
Sidebar here. has everyone got the Fauci Ouchie yet? We haven’t pinkpantheroz an hour ago
CL – the Affordable Care Act is still in full operation here and will be…but expanded medicaid never has been as it requires some buyin by the state….Mo. legislatures, against the overwhelming will of its constituency, refuses to fund it. Someone should take them to court. This is a violation of their duty and of state law. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – The state would fund the state militias with the tax money from the very people they would be sent to harm. AdLib an hour ago
WE DID and it’s AMAZINGLY liberating. Oh, I still obey the guidelines but no longer have fear. Went to lunch last week in a restaurant with a friend and got SERVED and ate food I didn’t cook, and someone at the end washed the dishes! And I’m very happy! choicelady an hour ago
CL..if there can be all white militias..why not all black. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – Amen on the Black militias. I quite respect them and fear them NOT at all. choicelady an hour ago
Ad that may work for a while but eventually the authoritarian turns on everyone. twilson117 an hour ago
CL, LOL! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Was your dining story in re. to COVID vaccination. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – I imagine someone WILL sue the pants off them. choicelady an hour ago
CL….i hope so…..Dems are a lost souls society right now…so who? MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
yes murph, I asked if you all had the jabs pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph – absolutely. I’m slowly moving back into my old life. Loving it! choicelady an hour ago
CL – That sounds scary. And seeing more and more unhinged tools of the RW propaganda gunning down innocent people, we nmay have to prepare for a much more dangerous and violent America, with lone wolf domestic terrorists coming out guns blazing more and more. This is why I am hoping AG Garland puts together an aggressive task force to take down the violent RWs and crack down on those inciting violence. AdLib an hour ago
PPO – when do you all get access to jabs? choicelady an hour ago
CL….I have both shots….so does everyone over 45 in the Co-Op…….and all are committed to wearing masks in public. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – I do wear a mask, keep distance, wash hands – but I’m NO LONGER AFRAID. That is very liberating. choicelady an hour ago
Can anyone name one country that had only one civil war? twilson117 an hour ago
Murph – I am VERY glad all your coop members are so responsible. choicelady an hour ago
cl, they’re rolling out the AstraZenica right now, but we’re waiting to get Pfizer. Don’t trust our ersatz GOP gummint that it is fully kosher. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
CL….I share that….the most liberating thing for me is that my efforts to get all of us vaccinated paid off. I made it my solemn purpose and spent a lot of my co-op time working on it. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
CL – I like the gun permit idea. If it wasn’t so dangerous, I’d like to see groups of PoC with open carry arms hanging around Repub offices and gatherings and see how they react when the tables are turned. But knowing how racism is so rampant in law enforcement, it would put those people at risk of being shot because they’re not white people openly carrying guns. AdLib an hour ago
I had wanted AZ for its origin w the Jenner Institute, but I think Pfizer is more provably safe. That’s what we got. choicelady an hour ago
tw. Ireland pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad – that was what I raised w the Black militia groups that are now in every state. They are very brave and intend to be a presence. I welcome them, don’t fear them, have high hopes for them. choicelady an hour ago
Murph, cl, anyone you know had iffy reactions to the jabs? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PPO didn’t Henry the viii keep coming in there and messing with them twilson117 an hour ago
tw – I think England had only one actual civil war. 1640s. Can’t think of another that was actually in that category. choicelady an hour ago
Several years ago during the height of the BLM marches in Mo, in St. Louis, in particular….white militia types started shadowing the marches armed to the teeth. Out of no where a Black Militia Group began shadowing the white groups. The white groups complained to the police who, to their credit, said that both groups who acting in accord with state law. The white groups blinked first and stopped showing up. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – not a single person I know had a bad reaction. choicelady an hour ago
Murph – TERRIFIC! choicelady an hour ago
TW – I don’t know about countries only having one civil war but the mistake that was made was thinking that just because the literal fighting ended, the war had ended. It has been a Cold Civil War since The South lost and now facing the burying of white supremacy in the numbers, they are re-energized to fight any way they can, including with weapons and insurrections, to fight off the inevitable minority status they face. AdLib an hour ago
PPO….I know 50 plus people who had the inoculations…ALL were pfizer biontech…..and no significant reacts from anyone and only a few with a noticeable reaction of any kind. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
I ask, because all of what is going on has the makings of something bad happening and getting completely out of hand. twilson117 an hour ago
TW 1920-22 Irish Free State. Civil war between those who wanted all of the Island, and those who settled for 26 counties to begin with and partitiongng NI. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad – Merrick Garland said during confirmation that the insurrection went back to OK City and OK City went back to Reconstruction. He was absolutely correct. choicelady an hour ago
CL – Same here, even though everyone should have the same rights, I worry that PoC open carrying are in real danger in these racist-filled states. AdLib an hour ago
Murph – I had Pfizer and had some reaction, none of it serious, just annoying. choicelady an hour ago
Ad and TW…the confederacy lost the war…..reconstruction began to reshape souther society….then a deal was struck to end it in a trade for the WH….jim crow resulted and was beaten back in the 1970’s but has been resisted ever since….so the civil war never ended from my point of view. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad – I know. It’s scary, but it’s the call of the Black community. I lend support for their courage and, as Murph noted, their capacity to create fear among the wimpy Rambo wannabes. choicelady an hour ago
TW – But these hate-blinded Repubs only care about hurting those they see as enemies. They would willingly allow themselves to become slaves of the State as long as the people they hate were hurt worse. They are deranged, seriously. Trump is like COVID, a contagious derangement spreader and so many of them seem to have caught it. AdLib an hour ago
Ad good point. They are letting that get in the way of them moving forward on so many levels especially economically. If they would let go of this crazy belief they are superior because of their skin tone they be far better off . twilson117 an hour ago
FYI – I had my first Moderna shot last week as I mentioned and no side effects from that brand either. AdLib an hour ago
Ad Rick Wilson – no relation – said everything Trump** touches dies. twilson117 an hour ago
Back to Georgia for a moment….why have the white leaders of GA government become so bold post election when they bent to the election results….what restored their “spine”? MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
TW I think racism IS the core issues, the sin of America. I’m not sure how to fix it, but it has to be addressed because nothing else will work until that ends. choicelady an hour ago
Mruph – It isn’t boldness in GA, it’s desperation. They are desperate to keep GA pure white. The worst of the laws is the power of the Leg. to overturn elections they don’t like. choicelady an hour ago
CL – Garland has a solid background on civil rights issues so I am hoping that over these 4 years, he really roots out a lot of the racist groups and threats that Trump happily grew. AdLib an hour ago
Ad – I believe to the core that Garland will do just that. choicelady an hour ago
Did you see today that Trump claimed that the 1/6 insurrectionists were no threat? As we knew, seditionists and murderers are who Trump sees as his base. AdLib an hour ago
Speaking of GA – where is glenn, does anyone know? choicelady an hour ago
CL…but why has the desperation arisen now….why not when Trump was urging them to fix the election? MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
CL sadly it impact other areas as well. Because the US is suppose to be the shining city on the hill, it’s far more devastating to those who come here believing they are escaping similar situations. twilson117 an hour ago
Trump, Ron Johnson – these fascists will whitewash (TM) their followers’ actions. choicelady an hour ago
Yeah…where is glenn? MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
TW – I absolutely agree. choicelady an hour ago
Murph – Very nice summary! Indeed, the failure of Reconstruction was the preservation of The Civil War. AdLib an hour ago
Ad…Thanx MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
If there is one figure in history I detest as much as Trump, it’s Johnson, Lincoln’s successor. The next is Harrison who brokered a deal to get electoral votes on the promise of ending Reconstruction. choicelady an hour ago
Murph – I second Ad on that. Well said. choicelady an hour ago
CL…post Lincoln we have a long, long line of losers. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Sorry – Hayes, not Harrison. choicelady an hour ago
TW – It is such evil that the GOP pols and RW bosses have so propagandized their followers into becoming their own robots of hatred, just to retain and increase their own power. Burning down the country because they profit from all the gasoline they can sell to their puppets. AdLib an hour ago
CL…I knew who you meant…..and it was a point well taken. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
from Twitter ‘BREAKING: Union president says MLB players ready to discuss moving All-Star Game from Georgia in wake of voter-restriction laws pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PPO Now that is interesting. twilson117 an hour ago
Ad…I think many of the GOP see Biden as Obama Part II…they thought they had driven obamism from the public state thanks to trumpism but then…..so now they are letting no chances be taken and leveling the ground such that they control the entire field of play. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
johncoopertweets pinkpantheroz an hour ago
All – I am hoping that optimists who think once Biden gets us tamed on COVID and gets money in people’s pockets, a LOT of the frenzy will die down. I know under Obama the racism increased, but people were, overall, pretty satisfied w Obama’s handling of most issues. And Hillary DID win the popular vote. Trump unleashed the MINORITY who are vicious but not in dominance, and Biden’s policies can stuff a lot of them back in the box. But that does leave the nascent Tim McVeighs loose on the land unless we lock ’em up. choicelady an hour ago
Murph – I think Trump’s energizing of the racist portion of Americans and the 1/6 insurrection, along with Trump’s attempt to overturn the election otherwise, has emboldened state Repubs into acting to complete the coup. Again, seeing this in the big picture, it is a continuation of a coup that intiially failed. They are on board with destroying our democracy to create a one-party tyranny that they will benefit from. No reason to sugar coat this, the GOP is an anti-American terrorist group bent on destroying our democracy and dominating the majority. AdLib an hour ago
Murph of course they do. twilson117 an hour ago
PPO….I would much rather all businesses cut all direct and indirect support for any GOP person or cause…..moving the All Star Game hurts lots of little people employed by events like that. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – I think there is a huge gulf between GOP electeds and their people. choicelady an hour ago
CL – I was thinking the same thing, we haven’t seen glenn for a little while, she is missed. AdLib an hour ago
cl, a vast chasm, as I see it. Yet theplebs blindly vote them in time after time. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad – I’km worried about her. If you have any access to her, please let her know we care? choicelady an hour ago
Ad, same here, please wish glenn all the best. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph the gulf you refer to between the electds and people isn’t that their own fault they keep voting these people back in. twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – I am thinking the plebes aren’t going to do that so readily these days. Things are radically changing after 1/6. And Biden is doing well by them. choicelady an hour ago
CL…I get your point about the majority BUT many of the GOP moves are meant to magnify the power of minority and shrink the power of the majority. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – Yes, I saw that story about the MLB opossibly moving their All Star game from GA. Now, if Hollywood vows not to shoot so much there, the GA racists in office will really start freaking out. AdLib an hour ago
Ad…that is the way I see it too….many of the state leaders are hopping on the coup train. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
I will reach out to glenn and let her know we’ve been thinking of her. Will update here next week. AdLib an hour ago
Thanks Ad. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Well, folks, time for me to hop along to the shops. as the song goes, Its a Long Way to the Shop if you want a Sausage Roll! Cheers! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph – that is THE key issue. When, after the CRA and VRA, the voice of minorities (POC) were strong, the GOP took the “minority rights” mantra to include partisan politics. Well, that’s NOT a protected charactaristic in law. Minorities in politics are one thing – losers. And we need to make that very clear. choicelady an hour ago
I saw where Coke offered a tepid response to the passing the the bill, they and the other companies HQ there need to step up the social responsibility. twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – Sorry you have to travel just for a decent sausage roll! Bon voyage! choicelady an hour ago
Take care PPO twilson117 an hour ago
cl,
pinkpantheroz an hour ago
CL…the electoral college is one of the most effective models that the GOP has to reduce the power of the majority voting to the minority governing. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
G’day PPO – love to you and Fergie! choicelady an hour ago
PPO…Sausage rolls. Makes me homesick. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – where did you get sausage rolls? I am shamed I’ve never had one. choicelady an hour ago
CL – There is so much that needs to be done after COVID is tamed and the economy repaired and I do think Biden will be moving forward on many of them. And he will have his successes and Dem successes on many things to rightfully run on. Will it reduce the intensity of hate out there? I don’t know but COVID receding and people getting back to normal life could really help. AdLib an hour ago
CL…in the UK as a kid…along with “Murphys” i.e. baked potatoes. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
brb MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
BTW – single payer CA is back and sucks. We will have this discussion offline. But I am SO MAD that no one will build on what Sheila Kuehl did. They are utterly ignorant of the basic issues of MICRO as well as macro economics of health care. It’s AB 1400 by someone I never heard of. choicelady an hour ago
So when are the criminal indictments going to fall on Trump’s head? Are prosecutors waiting for some reason? AdLib 44 minutes ago
Ad if he can get a real infrastructure program going I believe that will stop some of the nonsense that is going on in the states, people will have work and money in their pockets. twilson117 44 minutes ago
Oooo – that sounds great. choicelady 44 minutes ago
CL – I will need to educate myself on the new CA Single Payer bill but I take your word for it, that it’s messed up. AdLib 43 minutes ago
TW – while I reject Bernie’s “it’s all economic” nonsense, I think you are correct. If actual WORK begins and people see prosperity, I think a lot of extremism will die. choicelady 43 minutes ago
So why is Andrew Yang leading in polling to be NY’s next mayor? He’s such a phony and a fraud. AdLib 43 minutes ago
Ad – if it were like Sheila’s I’d seriously support it. It’s the dead opposite and extremely harmful. choicelady 43 minutes ago
Ad – NY is not immune to “the next fad”. Yang is that. choicelady 42 minutes ago
Yang’s lead is an IQ indicator rating the voting public sad to say. MurphTheSurf3 42 minutes ago
TW – A huge infrastructure bill on the heels of the America Rescue Law would be an enormous boost to Americans across the country, absolutely. That could place Dems in a uniquely strong position to hold or gain seats in 2022. AdLib 41 minutes ago
Murph – I think you’re correct there. He would be a terrible mayor. He is truly not smart. Just clever. choicelady 41 minutes ago
CL – I believe you, you know more about Single Payer than anyone I know. AdLib 41 minutes ago
Trump and criminal indictments …… I imagine that the prosecutors are going to dot their i’s and cross their t’s and then double check and then double check the double check. MurphTheSurf3 40 minutes ago
Ad – I may be the only living human being who read ALL of Sheila’s bill several times AND ACA several times. And who actulally knows what it costs to make the steel for injection needles and who makes them. I got game here. choicelady 40 minutes ago
AND I am VERY CRANKY ABOUT IT. choicelady 39 minutes ago
Yang is such a hollow, Republicanesque jerk. It became obvious in the primary and his followers are as bad or worse than Bernie Bros. AdLib 39 minutes ago
Everyone think they have what it takes to be a mayor, congressperson, governor senator or president and they have no clue on what holding those positions actually mean. twilson117 39 minutes ago
Ad – AMEN on Yang. choicelady 39 minutes ago
a twilson117 39 minutes ago
CL….I believe you….if all voters were YOU….all politicians would be wary and far more honest. MurphTheSurf3 39 minutes ago
The one benefit of Yang becoming NY Mayor is that it would end his political career right then and there. AdLib 39 minutes ago
Ad I agree. twilson117 39 minutes ago
TW – I cannot any longer trust anyone who hasn’t had political office at the local or state level. choicelady 38 minutes ago
Ad…a huge infrastructure bill….big bucks….fodder for the suddenly righteous defict/debt hawks on the right. MurphTheSurf3 38 minutes ago
CL agree, they need to understand what it really is involved twilson117 38 minutes ago
Murph – I just zapped a man doing a hate crimes law who is ignoring and trying to use 31 human rights groups without listening to us. I know more than HE does, and shot off a letter saying he could NOT claim our support while dissing our views. We shall see what comes of that. choicelady 37 minutes ago
Murph – But how long does Vance need in Manhattan to file against Trump? The DA in Fulton County is already at a Grand Jury against Trump. And is NY AG waiting for Vance’s criminal charges to be filed before her civil ones? She claimed to have dozens of charges against Trump ready to go. AdLib 37 minutes ago
CL…a case in point…now if the other 30 did the same thing… MurphTheSurf3 36 minutes ago
CL – Oh yeah, you’ve got serious game! AdLib 36 minutes ago
Ad….I too am anxious to see the dogs of war unleashed. MurphTheSurf3 36 minutes ago
Murph defict/debt hawks will never agree on anything that big which is all the more reason to push it through. Because in the end they will be right there at the trough clamoring for their share of the pie. twilson117 36 minutes ago
Murph – they are. Just more politely than I did. I have no time for fools. choicelady 35 minutes ago
CL….good on all of you! MurphTheSurf3 35 minutes ago
Murph – But I haven’t seen the Repub scam of suddenly being deficit hawks working anymore. They’ve worn it out, the public doesn’t care about deficits. AdLib 35 minutes ago
TW – for the sniffy conservatives claiming “budget responsibility” by insisting there is no pork, they’re snarfing up pork as fast as possible. choicelady 35 minutes ago
Twilson…oh, I agree, and I am on the same page as you because we both know that their new found faith in fiscal integrity is all show. MurphTheSurf3 34 minutes ago
BRB- choicelady 34 minutes ago
Ad….I suppose that is true in some states…here….hawley is making great hay over it. MurphTheSurf3 34 minutes ago
Murph – The Repubs who are voting for Repubs no matter what may pick up and run with the deficit BS but it doesn’t move voters who aren’t already Repub drones. AdLib 33 minutes ago
Murph that’s right. The economy can handle it, hell the economy in all 50 states need it. ] twilson117 33 minutes ago
Ad….but it does work, and work well, in their back yards further dulling the senses of those who swear by the Red. MurphTheSurf3 32 minutes ago
Finksands used to preach about how deficits are irrelevant and in fact necessary for a strong economy. When a country can print its own maney and its money is used as a basis for the wrold economy, deficits are no more concrete than increasing available money. AdLib 31 minutes ago
Murph the country can’t afford another bridge to collapse especially when something can be done about it. twilson117 31 minutes ago
Twilson….frankly I have to leave to those brighter on the macro ecoomy than I to assure me from their knowledge base and analytic skills. MurphTheSurf3 31 minutes ago
Funksands! There is a name from the past. Heard from him at all. Miss his insights a lot. MurphTheSurf3 30 minutes ago
I trust Janet Yellen that spending at the bottom will generate HUGE improvements in the economy. Infrastructure is a real “bottom up” act. When the idiots under Reagan said “A rising tide lifts all boats” we forgot tides lift from BELOW not from above. choicelady 29 minutes ago
Murph – Racism, 2nd Amendment, deficits, etc, all the Republican propaganda tools are used on their cultists as part of the brainwashing routine. These things always work on them because they’re all about justifying hate of Dems, Progressives and people of color. It’s like a neverending dogwhistle. AdLib 29 minutes ago
Where is funksands???? I don’t see him on Twitter anymore either.! choicelady 29 minutes ago
Who doesn’t have a highway that not in need of major repair, or an airport, bridge, school. twilson117 29 minutes ago
I too trust Yellen….she is one of those I trust on macro economic matters. MurphTheSurf3 28 minutes ago
TW – even CA needs some help on bridges and roads! choicelady 28 minutes ago
Look at what China is doing for infrastructure across Asia …… creating a massive network of highways and high speed rail. MurphTheSurf3 28 minutes ago
TW – And think about the satisfaction that many Americans will feel as their roads, utilities, airports, etc. are improved. Biden and Dems are proving and will prove that government works for them and makes their lives better. Repubs are in big trouble as that sets in. AdLib 27 minutes ago
CL well put. twilson117 27 minutes ago
CA is killing its high speed rail blaming politicians for it INSTEAD OF voters who voted FOR it. choicelady 27 minutes ago
Murph – Yep, Funksands is missed, he’s popped in here and there, definitely a good guy. AdLib 26 minutes ago
AD I’ve always said when people are complaining about the traffic being screwed up because of road construction throughout their state the cash register is ringing. twilson117 26 minutes ago
SO…no word on Funk? I came across one of his essays that I archived years ago…brilliant guy with a wry sense of humor. MurphTheSurf3 26 minutes ago
Part of me just wants to lie on the floor and sip soup through a straw. I’m exhausted trying to talk sense to people. So I will trust Biden and those w energies to do the right thing and hope for a major change of heart from the damned fools who voted for the Yam Man. choicelady 25 minutes ago
Lie on the floor and sip soup through a straw….quite an image….gravity defying. MurphTheSurf3 25 minutes ago
I think this is from an old British routine. A friend in Wales said it, and I have embraced it ever since. choicelady 24 minutes ago
It denoted perfectly utter exhaustion. choicelady 24 minutes ago
Murph – I saw someone comparing China with their infrastructure spending around the world at over $1 trillion and the US wasting $1 trillion on the F-35. We look like idiots, under the thumb of the wealthy. AdLib 24 minutes ago
There is one good thing about this COVID thing for me, I don’t have to be out in public talking to idiots who believe Trump** won the election, or other foolishness. twilson117 24 minutes ago
Well….my friends….nearly 10:30 and….it is spring….and you know what that means for this gentleman farmer…..early to bed, early to rise makes the farmer happy and wise (and solvent). MurphTheSurf3 23 minutes ago
TW – that IS the part of lockdown I have liked. Fewer fools. choicelady 23 minutes ago
TW – And after the construction is finished, people quickly forget about the inconvenience and appreciate the repairs. AdLib 22 minutes ago
Good night, Murph! May your crops, like yeast, rise! Great to see you. choicelady 22 minutes ago
Murph – Stay solvent and rested! AdLib 22 minutes ago
Ad….IKE warned us of the dangers inherent in the military-industrial-legislative complex. MurphTheSurf3 22 minutes ago
Ad that’s right. twilson117 22 minutes ago
Good night CL twilson117 22 minutes ago
Murph – I will add Funk to my reachouts this week. AdLib 22 minutes ago
Murph – my folks were Stevenson supporters, but looking back, Ike wasn’t all that bad, was he? choicelady 21 minutes ago
Best to you……thanks for reaching out to Funk….it is just good to say hi to hall of famers every now and then. MurphTheSurf3 21 minutes ago
Murph – Ike was right! AdLib 21 minutes ago
Good night, TW – hope to see you soon! choicelady 21 minutes ago
Choice…just look at the GOP platform in the IKE years…progressive! MurphTheSurf3 21 minutes ago
Ad okay have to ask who is this Funk?? twilson117 21 minutes ago
Murph – Yup. Who knew? choicelady 20 minutes ago
CL…my Irish, Military Man Dad did and voted for him and distrusted JFK… MurphTheSurf3 20 minutes ago
TW – Funksands is a long-timer at The Planet, he’s very smart about financial matters and has a wicked sense of humor. AdLib 20 minutes ago
TW…Ad…summary on Funk….Spot On! MurphTheSurf3 19 minutes ago
Sound like a cool guy. twilson117 19 minutes ago
Murph – my folks loved Stevenson but not JFK. However they grew to like the latter more and my Dad wept at his assassination. choicelady 19 minutes ago
Funny how the Repubs from the past sound like Progressives today. AdLib 19 minutes ago
Ad – I miss Funk a lot. choicelady 19 minutes ago
And the Repubs of today sound like the Klansmen of the past. AdLib 19 minutes ago
I will send all the kind thoughts out to Funk and maybe we can get him to come out next Vox. AdLib 18 minutes ago
Hey I have to bug see you all next week. twilson117 18 minutes ago
CL…my dead was a lifer navy officer with a specialty in strategic planning and he never had kind words for Kennedy’s military leadership which he regarded as dangerous blundering that was the result of too little knowledge, or experience and an overconfidence in his circle of advisers. MurphTheSurf3 18 minutes ago
TW – Always very happy to see you here, TW! AdLib 18 minutes ago
By TW MurphTheSurf3 17 minutes ago
Ad – LBJ was wrong – his passage of the CRA didn’t lose the South for a generation. It was permanently. And they crept into every nook and cranny of the GOP. No one can tell me there’s a lick of sense in the Stars and Bars in WISCONSIN. choicelady 17 minutes ago
Thanks take care twilson117 17 minutes ago
Goodnight, TW! choicelady 17 minutes ago
Murph – Kennedy could have gotten us into a nuclear war…but then again, we might have been under the USSR’s thumb if the nukes stayed in Cuba. AdLib 16 minutes ago
I have a neighbor who flies the stars and bars, the u.s. flag, the state flag, a christian flag, a trump flag, and a Don’t tread on me flag in a cluster in his yard. Not a single sensible idea in his head. MurphTheSurf3 15 minutes ago
Murph – JFK was, I think, the bridge from the Cold War colonial forces to the modern globalists, and he did not do it well. The GOP have fought back ever since and have dominated too much. But they are losing now. They will be gone. choicelady 15 minutes ago
Murph – nope. Those flags do NOT stand for any good sense at all. choicelady 15 minutes ago
CL – I wouldn’t say we’ve lost The South forever, look at GA election results. But yes, once the racists in the South were welcomed into the GOP, that was the end of their support for the Dems. AdLib 15 minutes ago
Murph – The only kind of people who fly that many flags are airheads. AdLib 14 minutes ago
Ad…..the nukes (or, as I think, the appearance of nukes) were a response to the failure of the JFK CIA to get missles out of Turkey as Ike had promised. It was Krushchev who recognized that Kennedy could not be counted on to figure this out and was escalating. Nikita lost his position over it but not his life as his predecessors had. MurphTheSurf3 14 minutes ago
CL – I wouldn’t disagree with you and Murph about Kennedy in foreign policy but he could have grown into it, we’ll never know. AdLib 13 minutes ago
Ad and CL….the neighbor I refer to calls me “the commie down the hill” MurphTheSurf3 13 minutes ago
I think he was growing into it, and that may be why he was killed. You’re right – we probably will never know. choicelady 12 minutes ago
LOL Murph! YOU???? Not hardly. That’s how screwy the RW are. choicelady 12 minutes ago
Murph – Very interesting, I don’t know the geopolitics of that time as well so appreciate that. AdLib 11 minutes ago
Ad..possible…but his reliance on LeMay, for example, for long term strategic policy was a bad sign….still two years into office he had the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Missile Crisis to his “credit” MurphTheSurf3 11 minutes ago
Murph, then you can call him “The Fool On the Hill”. AdLib 11 minutes ago
CL…will compared to him and his looney pals…..I am certainly far left….me and Cal Coolidge. MurphTheSurf3 11 minutes ago
Ad…..the fools on the hill…theme music. MurphTheSurf3 10 minutes ago
Yes, LeMay was a mistake. And the Bay of Pigs was crippling. AdLib 10 minutes ago
Well, gentlemen, I am shuffling off to sleep. I got about 4 hours last night, and we are leaving around noon to drive to Fort Bragg CA to spend four days ignoring the world. Cannot wait! But I need to be sharp for the drive so need sleep. Be well both of you. See you soon! choicelady 10 minutes ago
Ad….Kennedy’s death saved him from ignominy….I think. MurphTheSurf3 9 minutes ago
Exactly, Murph! Play it loudly on your speakers, he’ll hear it but never get why you’re playing it. AdLib 9 minutes ago
Murph – I think so. choicelady 9 minutes ago
Have a wonderful time there, CL! AdLib 9 minutes ago
And LeMay was brought back into the circle in the Vietnam War. MurphTheSurf3 9 minutes ago
CL..what is in Ft. Bragg… MurphTheSurf3 8 minutes ago
Well….this was a long session, but an excellent one…… MurphTheSurf3 8 minutes ago
Murph – Hard to say that, not knowing how Kennedy could have learned and changed over 2 terms…which may have prevented Nixon from getting elected and Reagan. AdLib 8 minutes ago
We have a nice “Salon” ala the French Enlightenment. MurphTheSurf3 8 minutes ago
I like time travel threads.\ AdLib 8 minutes ago
Yes, very impressed how late our chat went tonight! Says a lot about the great folks here! AdLib 7 minutes ago
Now if I can get glenn and Funk here next week… AdLib 7 minutes ago
Kennedy and his clan were consigned to the world of political and social mythology after his death…an event that remains under a cloud of uncertainty to this day. MurphTheSurf3 7 minutes ago
It is still strange that we still have no definitive knowledge of who was behind Kennedy’s assassination. Hard to believe Oswald acted alone but not impossible. AdLib 5 minutes ago
The Oswald Single Shooter Theory seems to me to be the very essence of the coverup. Ah well….Glenn and Funk. Wouldn’t that be great! Well….until next time. MurphTheSurf3 4 minutes ago
Good night! MurphTheSurf3 4 minutes ago
Until then, have a great weekend! AdLib 4 minutes ago
