Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 6 hours ago
Hey PPO!
AdLib 5 hours ago
Hi Ad!
pinkpantheroz

Go Joe!
pinkpantheroz

He’s getting a lot of good press. His video made Trump freak out.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Good. I see the nicknames are ut already. He must be desperate
pinkpantheroz

Apparently, Trump has used “Sleepy Joe” on Manchin and other Dems. Because it sounds like Sloppy I suppose, his favorite meal.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Now, if only the Berners got off Joes case about his age. Seeing Bernie is a year older!!!
pinkpantheroz

It’s kind of amusing and actually hurting Bernie for his followers to attack a man who’s a year younger than Bernie for being too old.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Bernie and his avid followers have no clue that they are alienating far too many Dems and indies, through their hostility against all other candidates, to ever win the nom.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Bernie is not a true Democrat. He and his followers are IMO GOP shills disrupting Dem voting preferences.
pinkpantheroz

A vote for Bernie will be a vote for Trump
pinkpantheroz

Whie I’m sure there are some Repubs and even Russians pretending to be Bernie supporters, I don’t think either he or his followers are Repubs but I don’t think their necessarily Dems. And in the end, it will be the Dem base that elects the nom.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Hopefully so. BTW, isn’t it fun to see the NRA eviscerating itself? Ollie North already!
pinkpantheroz

Well, not in a Dem primary. Some of those who vote for Bernie just want a disruptive candidate and are childish enough to be willing to vote for Trump in a GE if “their” candidate doesn’t get the nom. But I know solid Dems who support him but will support the eventual nominee in any case. That’s a majority, it was in 2016 too.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Isn’t this amusing: “Wayne LaPierre says new NRA president Oliver North is extorting him”

AdLib 5 hours ago
Red faced Texas withdrew Mass Voter Fraud case.
pinkpantheroz

Texas is itself a massive voter fraud.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Wayne, ol’ buddy, time to hang up your spurs and mosey on outa here.
pinkpantheroz

And the gerrymandering by Repubs in MI has been struck down!
AdLib 5 hours ago
And how about Rosenstein groveling to Trump and promising him, “I’m on your team”?
AdLib 5 hours ago
It’s all happening. At long bloody last. DEm House is having an effect
pinkpantheroz

Rosy is a fence sitter. Don’t care any more.
pinkpantheroz

Yes, it was so oppressive for those 2 years of a Trump controlled Fed gov’t. The House was horrible but McConnell has been poisonous. They are openly trying to tear down democracy and no Repubs are patriotic enough to stand up.
AdLib 5 hours ago
It is now essential that Dems gain back the Senate and stop that evil gnome.
pinkpantheroz

Rosenstein is a wimp, he was crying at the prospect of being fired by Trump. Then he kisses his ass? The point is, he may have denied Mueller what he needed to pursue Trump as far as he needed. He may have denied Mueller the opportunity to interview Trump. Rosenstein could have dirty hands.
AdLib 5 hours ago
No question and I think Dems will hit the trifecta, Senate, House and WH in 2020.
AdLib 5 hours ago
Trump has lost those who were on the fence in 2016 and barely gave him the Electoral College win. They’ve been disgusted by Trump and aren’t coming back. Whoever is the Dem nom will win, they could never do anything as horrible as Trump already has.
AdLib 5 hours ago
To be honest, would Mueller interviewing Trump have definitively changed the outcome of the report? we all know he’s a consummate liar. I suppose it would have been nice to have his lies on record, but surely there is enough there already?
pinkpantheroz

I don’t know that any president has ever failed to get out of the 40’s in polls their whole term and won re-election.
AdLib 5 hours ago
CSedition, perhaps?an McConnell be indicted for his traitorous years?
pinkpantheroz

oops
pinkpantheroz

I think Mueller should have had the Grand Jury subpoena Trump and then he would have been forced to either plead the 5th, answer questions or be hammered with contempt of court.
AdLib 5 hours ago
I’d sure like to have seen that!
pinkpantheroz

And not have been allowed to have his lawyer there!
AdLib 5 hours ago
But then, his amazing memory would have been left at home as well.
pinkpantheroz

The Dems will never push a prosecution against any Repubs for all this treason, they seem far too calculating on not wanting to rile up Trump’s base instead of standing up for the rule of law and proving that no one is above the law. A bit disappointed with so many running away from impeachment. Trump AND Barr should be impeached, as a start.
AdLib 4 hours ago
The post-Mueller Report polls did prove one thing, the majority of Americans see him as a liar and they just don’t believe what Trump says.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Agree, Ad. I must say I’m grudgingly impressed that Fox calls obstruction of Justice on Mr. Blobby.
pinkpantheroz

Yes. His lies have finally been bared for what they are.
pinkpantheroz

Today Trump described himself as “a young man”. What normal person wouldn’t respond, “This 72 year old guy is deluded!”
AdLib 4 hours ago
The youngest!
pinkpantheroz

That was surprising in a nice way. Napolitano has been a wingnut here and there so this doesn’t make me change my mind about him but that pronouncement that Trump should be impeached was amazing.
AdLib 4 hours ago
“The youngest woman!”
AdLib 4 hours ago
Has Murdoch finally seen the red ink on his revenues and is slowly but surely backing away from the Kryptonite Kid?
pinkpantheroz

Trump does come off like the youngest in some ways…

AdLib 4 hours ago
pinkpantheroz

I don’t think so, I read an article saying that following Trump’s complaints, Murdoch has made adjustments at Fox News that Trump wanted. I just think Trump is going so far, even RW idealogues are starting to say, “He’s a lunatic!”
AdLib 4 hours ago
Wonder what Trump and @Jack really talked about?
pinkpantheroz

How do any of the RW evangelists, Fox News extremists and Repubs think they can ever have any credibility for a generation at least when Dems have power and they whine about “Dictators!”?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph!
pinkpantheroz

PPO – Isn’t it pathetic that the clearly Repub Jack won’t stop Nazi and White Nationalist posts…because it would ban too many Republicans! Including Trump! Why people keep spending so much time on Twitter and empowering the site that is Trump’s megaphone and supports racist scum is beyond me.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I’m at least glad that the Dems who have been trying to squash the possibility of impeachment are wavering as Trump digs out the ground under them.
AdLib 4 hours ago
SMALL CROWD…..
MurphTheSurf3

I use it to poke fun! I don’t see Ads or slavishly build followers.
pinkpantheroz

But quality!
pinkpantheroz

Yep! Last week, many more, this week, The Avengers premier.
AdLib 4 hours ago
premiere
AdLib 4 hours ago
I just learned I can mute those, like GOT. Top arrow – mute this conversation
pinkpantheroz

I’m not against people using Twitter, we tweet links to our posts and I tweet here and there but the folks who spend so much of their online life there and yet are outraged at Trump and all the pro-racist loons there, don’t seem to get that they are helping promote it.
AdLib 4 hours ago
And I see tweets from people saying, “I need to take a break from Twitter, the attacks on me are just too much.” Yet they tweet that they aren’t going to tweet then show up later retweeting their tweet about not tweeting anymore.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Some just don’t seem to get it
pinkpantheroz

Good use of the mute function! There are some good newsy tweets on there but it gets a bit mind dulling in the repetition. How many more tweets do we need to see about Hillary and Bernie voters dissing the others? Or tweets about what someone ate today?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ok…..I am back…phone calls.
MurphTheSurf3

Welcome back!
AdLib 4 hours ago
I ranted about GOT – as in enough already! Got a cascade of abuse!
pinkpantheroz

so someone nice taught me how to mute it. Peace!
pinkpantheroz

So…are the House Dems going to hold Trump people in contempt for not obeying subpoenas and put them in jail or refuse to fund their salaries or will they just moan publicly?
AdLib 4 hours ago
This is all going to end up in court……for Trump it is all about the big stall….and he is counting on the Supremes to save him in the end.
MurphTheSurf3

If they want to restore credibility to the House, they must cite for contempt. Otherwise the perception will be that as usual, the WH gets away with everything
pinkpantheroz

PPO – Twitter stokes the fanboy mentality. People want to only hear agreement that what they like on tv or in politics is affirmed. They see different opinions as personal attacks.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I think the only hope is what is happening with Deutsche Bank which has moved quickly to provide all of the materials being requested before they could be stopped.
MurphTheSurf3

They need to break open more sewer pipes and septic tanks.
MurphTheSurf3

Though I did see one person proudly proclaim that The Beatles were overrated…that was kind of rude and intentionally provocative on a trivial issue. So some people want the attention, good or bad.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph, you could be right. DB may be the nail in the trump coffin. here’s hoping. Wonder when other indictments will be unsealed.
pinkpantheroz

Murph – But the SCOTUS, even leaning towards Trump, can’t say that laws don’t have to be followed or they have no purpose anymore.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Trump is doubling down on detestable statements. This is where Biden would be useful……with or without the nomination bare knuckles beatings are in order.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad, I’ll always remember a teacher pal of mine who introduced his 11 yo class to the Beatles music. They were gobsmacked to a man.
pinkpantheroz

Ad…Scotus…just don’t trust them. We have a lawless executive that has put two fellow travelers on the high court…I hope you are right.
MurphTheSurf3

Yes, Murph! Imagine debates between DeludedDonald and SleepyJoe. I’d buy tickes for that!
pinkpantheroz

I am not sure that we can wait for debates…..it is time for someone high profile to dig the ground out from under him and then clobber him with the shovel as he fall.s
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – What is a reminder of what I don’t like about the Dems is the confidence some of the establishment/status quo types have that they are smarter than everyone else in playing it safe. Or what many others would call, cowardly. Trump is setting the house on fire and they only see it as a political opportunity. It’s a duty to protect our democracy, that escapes them.
AdLib 4 hours ago
The audacity of fatso Trump saying that he is far more “youthful and vigorous” than Biden.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I would think that Deutsche Bank may have Trump’s tax returns too, if they hand them over then Trump’s stall tactics are meaningless.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Any source of info would be of value.
MurphTheSurf3

The youngest!
pinkpantheroz

BTW….did you both catch Fox’s Napolitano….tackle Trump yesterday……..makes the case for obstruction….big stick sharpened on both ends.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – No question, Trump was wounded by Biden nailing him as the Nazi lover that he is. But Joe isn’t going to eectrify and energize voters. In the primary or GE, he looks a bit lethargic to me.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Yes, Murph. We mentioned his about face.
pinkpantheroz

Ad….he may be that but let Joe keep punching at Trump and Trump will take the bait….in the meanwhile other candidates work the Dem base and those in the shadowlands between R and D.
MurphTheSurf3

The Berners need to be checked in their depiction of Joe as a predator. Not good enough. Unacceptable.
pinkpantheroz

PPO – I introduced my daughter to The Beatles as her first real music (Yellow Submarine was one of her favorite movies back then) and she loved them. Still likes them today…despite listening to rap and hip hop mostly!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Yes, PPO…there needs to be an understanding among the Dems…the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
MurphTheSurf3

Suggest she check out The Electric Light Orchestra (Jeff Lynne’s ELO) Moe in a simiar vein
pinkpantheroz

More
pinkpantheroz

Side note…I was going to school in England during the Beatles rise….and people were crazy for them there….my school, an all boy’s prep had a headmaster who believed in the Arts, all of them. And I was one of 200 boys who went to a Beatles Concert at Digby.
MurphTheSurf3

I thinnk Bernie and Co are spoilers to divide the Dems. No real credentials for being a Dem Nominee.
pinkpantheroz

Murph – I don’t have much faith in the SCOTUS either but would Roberts destroy himself in history books? We’ve already seen him back away from really bad, partisan decisions that would make the public furious. He’s not a good guy but I don’t think he’s so extremist he would destroy the reputation of the court…and pour gass on the fire of expanding the court to unseat the RW majority.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Wow, Murph! You lucky thing!
pinkpantheroz

I find Bernie feisty and fiery…..but do not see that he has a record of getting much done….he is a miserable coalition builder.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – The people sho should be standing up to fully attack and confront Trump are the Dem noms but until the debates, they don’t have the media spotlight. When they announce they get some attention and then the MSM just talks about the Dem horse race.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad….I have considered Roberts as well…..but some of those decisions that he appeared to have voted for the good guys have turned out to be less of a victory as time goes on…..
MurphTheSurf3

Which is why Biden might fill an important role. He has a knack for grabbing attention and as a recent VP he has leverage ESPECIALLY IF Donald keeps taking the bait.
MurphTheSurf3

Yes Murph, we were discussing how even RW Repubs like Napolitano can’t stomach Trump’s criminality anymore. Dems will win in 2020 I think, Trump is alienating all but most rabid cultists. WHo are a minority.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I don’t know. It seems that the party that I generally supported for decades has gone stark raving mad.
MurphTheSurf3

Given the lawlessness of the man in the oval office….which I think is absolutely breath taking…….the silence of the GOP is gut wrenching.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – I’m fine with Biden getting the attention right now and using it to go after Trump. Happy that we have such a strong field of contenders. While I have my preferences on candidates, I will be upfront about what I’m not crazy about with candidates like Biden but if he got the nom, I’m supporting him 100%. I just hope it’s someone younger who’s more Progressive. And maybe a woman or a POC.
AdLib 4 hours ago
It is very hard from here to really get thefinger in the dyke is how soon caan he be given the bum’s rush. climate in the US right now. Hopefully everyone on all sides is thoroughly fed up with the lunatic and want him gone. The only
pinkpantheroz

Whats happening to my texts?
pinkpantheroz

Ah well, that’s it for me today. Have a nice weekend and take care
pinkpantheroz

PPO – I don’t think the Bernie people who are attacking all the other candidates are getting any traction. They seem mostly ignored by non-Bernie Dems. We kind of already know what they’re doing, they’ve done it to any candidate they see as a threat and it seems trivial.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Take care PPO! Have a great weekend!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Bye PPO….
MurphTheSurf3

So, Ad – it is you and me.
MurphTheSurf3

Yep! We’re the guys not watching the Avengers.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I’d rather be one.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I am going to the Avengers film tomorrow. I have tickets and will go with four friends…all sci fi buffs. The show is 3 but we need to get there at 2 to secure decent seats. I pushed for reserved seats at another theater but they had their preference
MurphTheSurf3

Heh! Should be a lot of fun!
AdLib 4 hours ago
So do you think the Dems will have the guts to impeach Trump?
AdLib 4 hours ago
I do not spend much time with much entertainment media……but the Marvel Universe is a place I enjoy.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad….you know my opinion of the U.S . Constitution….and impeachment is another example of how noble, and how stupid, the fundamental contract with the American People is.
MurphTheSurf3

The House Dems are trying to just have hearings now but without the weight of impeachment, I wonder if Trump can just stonewall them on docs and witnesses.
AdLib 4 hours ago
I think they should investigate the hell out of him and his cronies…..build the case…..to a watergate level if possible and in the meantime work to unseat him 2020 while making it clear to every vulnerable GOP that they have targets on their back.
MurphTheSurf3

Trump can stonewall them in the same way re. impeachment hearings…..they can still vote articles but will go the Senate without a fact based case…..the thing will be a fiasco.
MurphTheSurf3

The problem is the precedent that the Dems would be setting for the power of the presidency to be above the law. If Trump’s crimes are not enough to trigger impeachment, it’s hard to imagine what would. Conspiring with our adversary to manipulate our elections? Obstructing justice? Those should be allowed to stand as not being crimes that a president should pay a price for committing?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Trump has committed more serious crimes than Clinton or even Nixon. He’s surpassed Nixon as a crook! And not impeaching him would empower him to rip the nation into shreds if he won re-election. Dems need to accept that he could win and how much of a dictator would they have helped make him if they say, “You can commit any crime against our country you want, we’re too afraid to try and stop you.”
AdLib 4 hours ago
Oh I agree….take a bow founders and framers……the impeachment tool has been seriously trotted out thrice….in each case it was the creation of a public understanding that led to action in the Senate that forced all parties to weigh the cases and act in sunlight. That is what the Dems will have to do this time too.
MurphTheSurf3

I believe that the nature of the prematurely launched framework that was never reworked as planned results in circumstances like this again and again.
MurphTheSurf3

Right, I’mnot against a hearing on Trump’s crimes first but if there is no impeachment endgame (Avengers!), they are showing that they are too cowardly and too concerned with winning elections to protect the country.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Keeping in mind too that at the time the Watergate hearings began, there was not anywhere near a majority supporting impeachment.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Impeachment as imagined by the framers existed in a small government, low media, post revolutionary period filled with civil idealism…..it just hasn’t proved a very able instrument.
MurphTheSurf3

In fact, the numbers for Trump are much worse than Nixon when the Watergate hearings started.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Watergate is an example of what I mean. The real jury is the public that then forces office holders to act for fear of the loss of their seats.
MurphTheSurf3

If Trump’s numbers overall…….are driven permanently into the mid 30’s then the momentum will drive enough GOP to the side of “justice”.
MurphTheSurf3

Yes, I do agree with you that the Constitution needed to be refined and updated far more frequently than it has been. At this point, it seems almost impossible to change it at all, especially because the Kochs and other corrupt oligarchs want to use that to corrupt the protections the founders put in place for the people.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad….that is my summation….The Framers imagined regular constitutional conventions….one in a generation was Franklin’s thought. Instead, we have had zero and the amendments beyond the first 10 are a disconnected patchwork.
MurphTheSurf3

The Dems and some Repubs helped get that impeachment wheel rolling against Nixon through the hearings, even when a majority didn’t suppport impeachment. What annoys me are those in the Dem Establishment who have been trying to swat down even the possibility of impeachment because they’re afraid of how it could hurt Dems winning elections. That is not supposed to be the priority, protecting the Constitution and democracy come first. Or we may not have fair elections.
AdLib 3 hours ago
At this point in time …. the need to educate the electorate is paramount and the question is one of whether this is possible or not.
MurphTheSurf3

If we do not get the WH back in 2020…….none of this will matter.
MurphTheSurf3

Well with those sober words….I am off. How is your work on the Planet going?
MurphTheSurf3

Agreed. The Founders saw the Constitution as a living document that needed to grow and change as the country did. Conservatives who also believe a book written 2000 years ago should dictate freedoms today don’t want a document 240 years old to change. It needs to be changed but again, open that door today and the Kochs rush in.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Yep.
MurphTheSurf3

We are stuck on a glue trap. The more we struggle the more we stick.
MurphTheSurf3

It’s coming along very well. Lots still to do but it looks great and should be very inviting to all!
AdLib 3 hours ago
So glad to hear this. If I can be of any help…let me know….
MurphTheSurf3

Good night….AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
MurphTheSurf3

Indeed, the 2nd Amendment for example, has been distorted wildly and needs to be reigned in severely. The Founders never imagined ak-47s in the hands of millions of people, including terrorists and nutjobs.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Night! Have fun tomorrow!
AdLib 3 hours ago
THE 2ND….you mean the State Militia Amendment…..as designed.
MurphTheSurf3

YES!!! A well regulated militia! What does that have to do at all with letting a rampant gun mania become the norm?
AdLib 3 hours ago
And protected?
AdLib 3 hours ago
I enjoyed the NRA coverage today…..in the background they are at war among themselves….in the foreground there is Trump saing he is counting on them to defend him agains another attempted coup. Madness
MurphTheSurf3

I love that La Pierre is yelping that North is extorting him!
AdLib 3 hours ago
As far as I am concerned the issue of individual ownership of weapons never even cross the minds of the Amendment authors….it was not an issue in frontier society.
MurphTheSurf3

Great point, it is a remnant of a post-Revolutionary War mindset.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I say that North and La Pierre should have a Western Showdown. Holsters….quick draw gun fight.
MurphTheSurf3

I’ll bet no guns were allowed into the meeting!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad…there were a lot of guns there…
MurphTheSurf3

Then as you say, La Pierre and North should have had a duel to decide who’s the boss.
AdLib 3 hours ago
We might get lucky and they shoot each other dead.
MurphTheSurf3

This time, for real, good night.
MurphTheSurf3

Neither of them shoot straight!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Night pal!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Hah!
MurphTheSurf3
