Vox Populi, our live weekly chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PST. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey PPO! Happy Trump Loser Day!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Escrib!!!
AdLib 4 hours ago
How are you, E-cat?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey there adlib. It took me a moment to figure out which button! It’s been too long
escribacat

Hi Escribacat! Happy TrumpLoser day.
pinkpantheroz

Escrib – Heh! We used to have a different chat system.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Pretty good. It’s been a great day, no? I had a hella year (hella couple years)..
escribacat

Hey Murph!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph!
pinkpantheroz

Ah, no wonder.
escribacat

What a great day for common sense at last!
pinkpantheroz

Escrib – You know it! It’s been draining, the past 2 years but I’ve got my second wind now with Dems in power in The House, led by Nancy and the Dem 2020 primary ramping up.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hi there S-Cat….long time no “see”! Hey PPO! And Howdy to AdLib whose fine “Cave” Article was just posted to Yabberz as a link….one of the very best pieces he has ever done.
MurphTheSurf3

And today was an amazingly good day!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey Murph the Surf
escribacat

Yabberz….?
escribacat

Really appreciate it, Murph!!!
AdLib 4 hours ago
SCat……what’s been the hap’s with you!
MurphTheSurf3

I do want to see Stone convicted for a life sentence though.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey Harleigh!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Harleigh!
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh and PPoz….LTNS all folks!
escribacat

Has Stone got Rudi as his lawyer? Talking to the media after his arrest means he can’t claim the 5th! Yippee!
pinkpantheroz

Hi folks!! FUCK TRUMP!!!!
Harleigh

S-Cat

is an emerging site that I am promoting. Ad is a member. Not nearly as intimate as the Planet (so I cross promote)…..I would love to pull more folks to this chat for example.

MurphTheSurf3

Trump is running out of places to hide from Mueller now! And Mueller is gradually building the prison cell around Trump. You think anyone has told Trump that he won’t be in the WH in 2 years and can really go to prison?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph, just checked it out. I will spend some time there! Thanks.
escribacat

PPO – Stone has the carefree nature of someone who knows that they will be pardoned.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Trump’s wall will soon be surrounding him with bars at one end
pinkpantheroz

Adlib, Donald is not programmed for that kind of information. He only allows HAPPY NEWZ!
escribacat

Stone was arrested and charged right here in FTL. yay
Harleigh

PPO – And forget Mexico, I’ll pay to build a wall and bars around Trump.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Stone is angling for a pardon but he’s a bullshitter. I thought he looked really pissed. He jaw was grinding.
escribacat

S Cat…isn’t “Nancy” Amazing……I have called her office three times to say “You Go, Girl”- although not in those words. The first call was on the day of her taking up the Gavel to wish her the best and to say how proud I am of her. I had no idea she would make such strides so quickly.
MurphTheSurf3

I love Nancy!! I got to vote for her when she first ran for office in San Fran a couple lifetimes ago.
escribacat

PPO…prison walls – indeed.
MurphTheSurf3

Poke in the eye, Murph to those who opposed her. What a gal!
pinkpantheroz

Escrib – True, Trump’s now surrounded by spineless yes-men. But maybe one of his lawyers might mention that on 1/20/2021, he won’t have any power anymore to stop anyone from throwing him in prison?
AdLib 4 hours ago
PPO…indeed…..the idea that she would not be strong enought has been put to flight.
MurphTheSurf3

He must know that the only thing that will keep him out of prison is the presidency itself.
escribacat

Glenn….greetings….I got here on time for a change! AND S-Cat is here! HoooRaaaah!
MurphTheSurf3

Harleigh – Too bad there wasn’t enough notice, you could have chanted, “Lock him up!” as he tried to blather on.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey glenn!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Didn’t Stone Threaten Mueller’s dog?
pinkpantheroz

PPO — Stone got thrown off Twitter for doing something nasty but I don’t remember what.
escribacat

Nancy Pelosi is brilliant! She played Trump like the rube he plays his voters for.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Thanks, Scrib
pinkpantheroz

Evenin’ gents! What a glorious day, huh? Stone arrested, the lying bully caves, and coulter and conservatives are pissed! Works for me!
glenn

I’m feeling pretty damn good, Glenn. November was pretty sweet too.
escribacat

PPO….from the indictment documents. “14. “On or about April 9, 2018, STONE wrote in an email to Person 2, ‘You are a rat. A stoolie. You backstab your friends-run your mouth my lawyers are dying Rip you to shreds.’ STONE also said he would ‘take that dog away from you,” referring to Person 2’s dog. On or about the same day, STONE wrote to Person 2, ‘I am so ready. Let’s get it on. Prepare to die [expletive].'”
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–good to “see” you, and S-Cat, too!
glenn

Coulter called Trump a wimp! Ouch! And he went through all this self-damage just to please her!
AdLib 4 hours ago
S-cat–November being good because Dems took the House?
glenn

I stopped by my local watering hole this evening……it’s like someone died!
MurphTheSurf3

Hannity must be starting to feel that itch at the back of his neck by now
pinkpantheroz

Person 2 is the radio host, what’s his name?
AdLib 4 hours ago
I heard on CBSN that person 1 is Corsi and Person 2 is Credito (sp?)
escribacat

Randy Credico
AdLib 4 hours ago
S Cat….I think that is correct.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–actually, someone did die. The lying bully. Hey, do you think his “Promises Made, Promises Kept” banner will be at his next rally?
glenn

Right… Randy Credico
escribacat

I’d love to have been with you, Murph
pinkpantheroz

And he and Corsi will testify against Stone…but they both have the credibility of a Trump promise.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Corsi was the “intellectual heft” behind the Obama is not a citizen meme. A conspiracy theorist at the top of the (dung) heap.
MurphTheSurf3

Isn’t Corsi also the one who started “pizzagate”?
glenn

NOne of those guys have any credibility — esp Stone. Have you guys seen ‘Get Me Roger Stone” documentary on Netflix. Super good
escribacat

Glenn….he has a long list of actual “witch hunts” to his “credit.
MurphTheSurf3

Glenn, I don’t know about pizzagate but he started the “Hillary is going to drop dead any second” rumor.
escribacat

I would like whoever the Dem nom is to keep pointing out all the criminals Trump has surrounded himself with…and all the crimes he’s had to settle. He is a two-bit criminal with his daddy’s billions.
AdLib 4 hours ago
S-cat–haven’t seen the documentary. However, all that needs to be said about Roger Stone is that he has a tattoo of Nixon on his back. What a creep!
glenn

It’s well worth the watch, and it shows his darling tattoo. He has been involved in pretty much every major ratfuck since post-Watergate
escribacat

P.S. Saw VICE for the Second Time tonight…..It was even better than the first time. I kept thinking where would be if Trump had a Cheney……good Gawd A’Mighty!
MurphTheSurf3

But her EMAILS!!
Harleigh

Mike Cernovich was a big promoter of Pizzagate.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Stone took down Dan Rather. I think Corsi was the “Swift boat ” etc etc guys who smeared Kerry.
escribacat

Will anyone believe Bernie sanders is a Democrat?
pinkpantheroz

PPO Nope
escribacat

PPO no.
Harleigh

Bernie will be vetted this time around.
escribacat

Escrib – Yes, Stone is a human cancer on our democracy, it is kind of amazing to imagine that he could be fumigated from our society.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–remember when conservatives went with Obama “palling around with terrorists”, so he was automatically a terrorist? And when they went with Rev. Wright, so Obama wasn’t a Christian? Payback is only fair. If you surround yourself with criminals, then that makes you one, too, at least according to repub logic. Of course, most of us knew the lying bully was a criminal long ago.
glenn

fuck bernie
Harleigh

hear, hear, H
pinkpantheroz

Okay, you started this Escrib, who do you and everyone else like so far to be the Dem nom?
AdLib 3 hours ago
AD way too early
Harleigh

I think Bernie’s ship sailed in 2016.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I have some favorites and a few UGHS. I love Brown/Klobuchar. Inslee/Klobuchar. Harris. Geez. what’s his name who is on the intelligence committee with Schiff…he is about to announce
escribacat

Anyone think that Trump would shut the gov down again in three weeks if he does not get something that saves his face?
MurphTheSurf3

Murph I think that ship is sailing out of the harbor right now.
escribacat

Ad….re. Bernie…yes….
MurphTheSurf3

Hareigh – Just saying who do you like, not expecting any of us could predict too much who will win.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–I agree with Harleigh. Fuck Bernie. Biden should be out, too. Their time has gone. Have to wait and see how it plays out, but I’d go with Harris, Warren, or O’Rourke.
glenn

I thought you guys were all Bernie fans!
escribacat

Glenn — I agree. Please no Bernie and no Biden.
escribacat

And Tulsi Gabbard is bad news.
escribacat

ecat LOL
Harleigh

Gabbard is awful.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I did not want to be impressed by Kamala Harris but I am….a couple of Planeteers who I trust do not have confidence in her.
MurphTheSurf3

And it’s funny to see many Dems already dissing Gabbard.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S-cat–I liked what Bernie had to say, didn’t like him so much when he lost the nomination, and kept bashing Hillary.
glenn

I want a WOMAN to be our next President…..
MurphTheSurf3

Isn’t Gabbard a DINO?
pinkpantheroz

Glenn, he did not lose gracefully.
escribacat

I also like Kirsten Gillibrand.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–I would LOVE to see a woman, but I’ll take a strong man, too. Strong in progressive principles, not strong like the person now occupying the oval office.
glenn

PPO – Gabbard is much worse than a DINO, she’s pro-Assad, anti-LGBTQ and blamed “both sides” for the Trump shutdown. She’s dead in the water, doesn’t hve a prayer.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I like Kirsten but not the way she dumped Franken.
Harleigh

Not Kirsten. saw her on Colbert – too plastic and formulaic
pinkpantheroz

Ad, I agree about Gabbard. Who is supposed to be her base? Nobody likes her (except apparently Hakeem Jeffries went to school with her and endorsed her).
escribacat

All–It seems that Michael Bennet is also looking to explore a candidacy. He’s the one who bashed Cruz the other day on the Senate floor.
glenn

Glenn there are plenty of women who meet your standard….so I am pushing for that. Major game change….
MurphTheSurf3

Good, Ad. I was uncomfortable with Gabbard
pinkpantheroz

Kirsten on Maddow was terrific.
MurphTheSurf3

You can check out my article on the candidates, I divided most into “less likely” and “more likely” and a couple “not likely”. Gabbard and Bloomberg are the not likely.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I liked Kirsten on Maddow too. But too many libs are pissed at her and blame her for Franken, whether it’s fair or not. I happen to think it’s really not fair but she’s not my favorite by far
escribacat

Don’t get to see Madow, unfortunately. Tonight’s show must be a doozie!
pinkpantheroz

Murph–agreed. Madam Speaker has shown us all how strong women can be. Just can’t get over how she absolutely owns the lying bully. And, he still hasn’t come up with a nickname for her. Telling, I think.
glenn

Bennet was so powerful in his condemnation of Cruz- and by extension many of his fellow GOP. I have never seen him so passionate.
MurphTheSurf3

PPO. I don’t have cable but I can stream most of Maddow that they post online later in the evening
escribacat

Yeah, I was very pleased with Bennett. He wasn’t that popular when he first got elected in Colorado but he is now
escribacat

All of them have issues to deal with. Gillibrand was so quick to push Franken out, it looked like a self-promoting thing and guilty-until-proven-innocent.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Escrib – I’ll check that out
pinkpantheroz

Kamala Harris has many plusses though she did refuse to prosecute Steve Mnuchin for financial crimes through his bank when she was AG in CA then took campaign money from him.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph, Bennet was great. More of that, please
pinkpantheroz

Eric Swalwell was the other guy I was trying to think of. He is getting ready to announce.
escribacat

glenn, his nickname for Nancy is……….. wait for it…………Nancy!
pinkpantheroz

Escrib – Gabbard does have supporters who may not know the whole story about her, just that she stood up to the DNC and supported Bernie.
AdLib 3 hours ago
One of the themes running through a lot of Stone coverage today is how odd it is for so many to be lying so widely and wildly for things that while improper are not illegal…leading commentators to suggest that real crimes are one layer below and that the shovels are out. Dig, dig, dig.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad. yeah my local Dem party posted a glowing tribute to Gabbard and I posted an article, I think from alternet, that described her weird Islamaphobia.
escribacat

I’m just hoping that there are not so many candidates that a strong electable candidate isn’t the nominee.
Harleigh

Murph–it was a brilliant speech. He spoke without notes, but with plenty of passion for over 20 minutes, and brought up bills that conservatives refused to pass. Remembered the dates and what was in the bills. It was a show of intelligence and passion combined.
glenn

Murph, that is one of the big questions about Flynn lying about talking to Russians. It wasn’t illegal, maybe a little rude, but why the hell did he work so hard to cover it up?
escribacat

I don’t know that Gillibrand would be more popular than Amy Klobuchar in that lane of the primary.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S cat….and that pattern is in place with the other six…
MurphTheSurf3

Harleigh, I just hope they don’t rip each other up.
escribacat

I like Klobuchar as well…
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–that doesn’t look good for Harris. You can be sure repubs will exploit that contribution for all it’s worth.
glenn

Scat – yes that’s the danger. Look what happened with the GOP last time.
pinkpantheroz

Klobuchar is really my favorite. She’s not well known though and she’s very understated which is why I like her so much. She was really cool when Kavanaugh freaked out and puked at her
escribacat

S-cat–not familiar with Salwell. Info, please?
glenn

Who likes SOC?
pinkpantheroz

I really like Eric Swalwell though my superficial thought about him is that he seems kind of young and guy-next-door to be president. But it is superficial, as a Dem, he has been strong and smart all through the Trump reign.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph and S-cat–please tell me more about Klobuchar.
glenn

AOC?
AdLib 3 hours ago
Swalwell is on the House intelligence committee.
escribacat

PPO–If you’re referring to O’Casio, she’s not old enough yet.
glenn

Sorry! Fingers!
pinkpantheroz

Glenn, if you can find it, check out Klobuchar’s questioning of Kavanaugh
escribacat

I’ve always liked lobuchar for all the right reasons. She’s always solid and never a fucking showboat running for the mic.
Harleigh

PPO SOC?
MurphTheSurf3

Who is SOC?
escribacat

AOC, the feisty one!
pinkpantheroz

Murph – I think that will be proven to be the case, Stone’s crimes are buried beneath a mountain of lies but it seems Mueller’s found a lot of them.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S-cat–will do, thanks.
glenn

Really like AOC! Her energy, fearlessness, maybe a bit like a young Pelosi?
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad…it is what is NOT in the indictments but implied that spell out “DOOM and GLOOM” for All the Presidents Mice and Men
MurphTheSurf3

I have to admit I’m OD’d on AOC right now. Too much exposure.
escribacat

I must say that I’m enjoying the prospect of women running for POTUS and it no longer being a big deal.
pinkpantheroz

Ad–I’ve always wondered what’s taking Mueller so long, but I’m beginning to believe that he’s trying to be thorough so neither the lying bully nor his minions can slither away from their crimes.
glenn

I’m so happy with all the women running! And I have to say, Hillary paved the way for them, even though she may never get credit for it
escribacat

Escrib – Yes, I’ve seen that too, people assuming Gabbard is a brash Progressive, not having researched just how RW she is.
AdLib 3 hours ago
AOC is very interesting but needs to learn the inside game before she takes on the world.
MurphTheSurf3

agreed, glenn. Thorough investigation with all threads leading to #Defendant1
pinkpantheroz

What’s really on my mind is what the hell is going to happen next?
escribacat

PPO–It’s so nice to see so many strong women in office, that’s for sure.
glenn

I mean, with the tightening noose.
escribacat

Klobuchar is a very solid, smart and strong Dem. Her one weak spot is that she opposes universal healthcare, she wants the ACA to continue but be improved. Not a terrible issue for her but some Progressives may hesitate a little on that.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I mean….really, does anyone think Kushner and Junior will avoid being indicted?
escribacat

Scrib, don’t worry about 21 days from now. Plans are there, no doubt to prevent him doing any more damage.
pinkpantheroz

Once again, guys, AOC isn’t old enough to run for president. You have to be at least 35 years old, and she’s not even close. The good news is it gives her time to either burnish her credentials, or burn out!
glenn

The Stone arrest this morning was very well managed Theater (tons of cars, tons of agents and cops, a search, and then Stone in shackles at the hearing)….Mueller wants all the fellow travelers to know what is coming to a cell near them.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph – Agreed, I think Mueller intentionally left out charges he could have filed against Stone to protect and shield his cases against Don Jr., Kushner and Trump.
AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO I’m thinking of the investigation. Donald is increasingly acting like a beast with rabies. Wait til they start moving in further….unpredictable what he will do
escribacat

S-cat–great description of the lying bully. A beast with rabies, indeed!
glenn

Klobuchar’s position of healthcare is pretty well defined and refined…..the trouble is that it takes someone who is willing to dig into policy to really get it.
MurphTheSurf3

And furthermore, it’s not just Mueller. It’s SDNY and it’s the endless subpoenas and investigations our lovely beautiful Dems in the House are going to start churning out. Man, it’s gonna be a wild ride.
escribacat

scrib, yes. But his circle of fellow-crims is tightening daily. Perhaps he will fall ill and have to resign. What a pity.
pinkpantheroz

glenn – Yesterday I was a bit pissed off at Trump sustaining the shutdown and cursed Mueller for taking so long to take Trump down. Then today happened. I think he knew I was getting frustrated with him.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, I have been very patient. I think Mueller is a careful prosecutor and I’d rather have careful than fast.
escribacat

Ad…I have it on good authority that Mueller, in an aside, told one his aides that it was “time to ad lib.”
MurphTheSurf3

BTW, not suggesting AOC for the primary, she is too young legally to run and too green but she will be a force to reckon with. The RW is going insane over her, it’s fun to watch.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, yes, he’s terrified of you. But it also may have had something to do with Congressmen being delayed at airports for thei early dash home!
pinkpantheroz

Murph–I know I sound like a broken record (is that still an expression???), but the Dem candidate in 2020 better be able to explain policy in simple terms, while digging into it to show why it will work. All policies–health care, immigration, infrastructure, budget, etc.
glenn

escrib – I think Trump’s kids are next but Mueller may want to finish his report before indicting them (he may have already included them in his sealed indictments) because after that, Trump will get rid of him one way or another I think…and I think Mueller thinks.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–LOL! Certainly Mr. Mueller is his own man, and dances to the beat of his own drummer.
glenn

Ad, someone suggested AOC would run for mayor of NYC after a few years in congress.
escribacat

10 years of Cohen records and recordings expose most of Trumps crimes and cohorts.
Harleigh

Glenn…I agree but in doing so….they also provide plenty of targets for the policy to be picked apart….a way of dealing with this is to follow the Obama model….Very well developed position papers on his site with campaign rhetoric as an outline.
MurphTheSurf3

And dont’ forget who else is cooperating, Weisselberg — CFO of Trump Org. All the little Trumpsters are under the microscope now and the CFO knows all the dirt — between him and Cohen.
escribacat

Vote for Michelle and that would be a fucking hoot and a half!!
Harleigh

Murph–that’s what Hillary did, too, I think. She just got caught up in the media madness that wouldn’t even look at the lying bully’s real crimes while they were picking apart her so-called crimes.
glenn

Escrib – Very true, as the SDNY and Mueller cases move forward, the House will be pursuing the mountain of crimes and ethical violations by Trump and his crime family. The next two years will be hell for Trump…but he may be acclimated to Hell, he does spend a lot of time in Trump properties.
AdLib 3 hours ago
S Cat….AOC needs admin experience and enough legislative moxie to move up the ladder…I fear that she is being treated like that outrageously precocious kid who then turns into a massive pain in the neck.
MurphTheSurf3

I feel quite certain that the next two years will be a helluva lot more fun than the last two.
escribacat

Murph, I agree about AOC. I got turned off right away when the first thing she did was join a sit-in outside Nancy’s office. Arrg. She kinda straightened up and got on board with the Dem program quickly and I hope she sticks with that
escribacat

I hope AOC gets to work and does not become a Gomert of the left.
Harleigh

Escrib – I have been pretty patient with Mueller but as I was watching our system of justice, air travel, the EPA and so much more being shutdown, I got a bit impatient. Trump is happily destroying the US while Repubs fearfully follow him and Putin laughs.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I heard Trump highlighted a new threat to the US – the Suspestic Boys!
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh–I know you meant that as a joke, but voting for someone not on the ballot, or for third-party helped the lying bully get elected. Dems need to keep their vote together; hopefully, we will have a strong, progressive candidate to appeal to independents. That being said, I think Michelle would be an awesome president, and her husband would set the standard for a First Man, but she has said many times that she doesn’t want to run.
glenn

Murph – Heh! Time to ad lib indeed!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, I was just talking to my buddy from NOAA….she has been furloughed. She lives from paycheck to paycheck. She hadn’t yet heard if she was going to work Monday
escribacat

PPO – I’d prefer to think Mueller is just terrified of me getting mad at him but if you say so.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph and S-cat–I like AOC’s positions so far, but I do think she gets a little carried away with the social media stuff, and “hitting back” just like someone else.
glenn

glenn, sadly, the people most qualified to be POTUS are not nominating.
pinkpantheroz

I am a huge fan of Adam Schiff but I’m happy to keep him in charge of the House Intelligence committee instead of running for prez.
escribacat

S Cat….notes are being sent via e mail to all furloughed employees with details re. when, where and how to report.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–I know I’m terrified of you getting mad at me, so I’m sure Mueller is, too.
glenn

Glenn…. I would vote for Michelle first but she would need a very strong running mate with a ton of knowledge and most of that I see in Elizabeth. Not sure a double female ticket could win though.
Harleigh

S-cat–I agree about Schiff, but if he wants to make a run for the presidency, I think he should be able to.
glenn

escrib – I’ve been concerned that the Dems, up until 2018, were an aging party that weren’t bringing up the next gen of Dems. I want to support the ones we now have and see them grow into leadership positions (watching all these old Dems and Repubs ask dumb questions when Mark Zuckerberg was at a hearing was embarassing). Dems needed to reinvigorate their ranks and 2018 helped with that in a big way. I know AOC can be a bot much at times but overall, I see her as one of those who are the future of the Dems…tempered just a little as they gain more wisdom and experience.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Nancy is second in the line of succession…some are seeing her as a line jumper…..mostly my GOP pals….they grind their teeth when they point this…their MAN has been put into his place by….you know, a woman! How humiliating. HAH!
MurphTheSurf3

Beto might drum up the rank and file
pinkpantheroz

Ad…I share your Dem concerns….2018 has been good for the party.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad, yes, I hope Nancy and the other leaders get right on the task of grooming the next generation of leadership, and standing back when there are stirrings of leadership emerging
escribacat

Harleigh–agreed, I would vote for Michelle in a heartbeat, but she seems to be very firm in not wanting to have anything to do with politics. As for a double female ticket, although I’d love to see one, I agree it might not be a winning one. It’s really sad to me to type that, because, for sure, a lot of these double men tickets we have had have not been so great, so a double female ticket might be just the thing.

glenn – Hillary was a problematic candidate, with negatives at the start that were as high as Trump’s and an establishment vibe that wasn’t what energized the younger voters that Dems need. But she would have won if not for Comey and the Russians. This time, we will have a candidate with little baggage and we’ll be prepared for the Russian invasion into our election and beat it just as we did in 2018.

Ad, agree. I was never happy with Hillary – but….she earned the nomination…setting up a Trump win (with lots of assists.)

I like Adam Schiff a lot but his very sedate demeanor wouldn’t do so well for him in a primary.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad….and both the Prez and VP candidates have to be able to rouse a crowd.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad, that’s the problem with the candidates that I like. I can’t stand the ranters (eg, Bernie). I like Adam and Amy precisely because they are calm. Obama had both — the calm demeanor and the charisma.

Two of the top tier candidates may be Biden and Beto. What do you think of them?
AdLib 3 hours ago
Murph–oh give me a break. Nancy as a “line jumper”? What the hell do they call the cretin now occupying the oval office?

Hillary had 3 million more votes than Donald. It was those dang three states and a very small number of vote that got him the EC. (Stein was a spoiler in those states).

PPO – Yes, I think Beto could be among the few candidates who could really energize the Dem base…but we have to know more about him and see how he handles himself in the primary. I’m going to support multiple candidates. My faves so far are Beto, Warren and Klobuchar (who hasn’t announced yet) but I am open to others. And I will be 200% behind whoever becomes the nom.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, there are too many excellent options!
escribacat

S-cat–agreed. We need a candidate that’s both calm and charismatic. Look at Pelosi. She speaks in practically a whisper, but she packs a punch in that whisper. Harry Reid was the same way; and he had charisma, too, IMO. I think charisma is overrated, give me someone who knows how our government runs, who actually WANTS to see our government succeed, and someone who knows policy.
glenn

And S Cat traditional Dem voters in many states (like wi) did not show up……voting discipline is something the GOP does much better at than Dems.

AdLib 3 hours ago
I really don’t know that Biden could go toe-to-toe with Trump.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–which is why I think he shouldn’t be in the rough and tumble of presidential politics. He’s too prone to gaffes, and the right would eat him up, IMO. He’s definitely not as sharp as he used to be.
glenn

Ad–my fervent hope is that no Dem has to go toe-to-toe with the lying bully. I hope he’s out of office by then.
glenn

But Biden is the Hillary of 2020, the centrist/establishment candidate that the establishment folks want to run. I think it would be a big mistake but I could be wrong.
AdLib 3 hours ago
And I think Biden is too close to Trump in age and in being an old white man. Biden would be the oldest President, 76 in 2020 and 80 at the end of his term. No offense to him in particular but I’m tired of the phony concept that old white men know better and should always be the ones in power.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Okay, here comes potty-mouth. Fuck the centrist/establishment! We need new blood, even if it’s middle-aged blood. But not Biden. I love him; even his gaffes are funny, but his time has come and gone. Give it up, already! And, as far as the establishment goes, that’s another reason the lying bully is in office, IMO. Too many republicans/independents wanted to shake everything up; that’s why they voted for the lying bully. Dems need someone with solid progressive values who is willing to also shake things up.
glenn

But don’t you think Trump will be easier to beat than Pence? By 2020, Mueller’s report will be out, America will be even more exhausted of Trump’s lies and sabotages of the country. Hard to see how Trump could get more than 40% in 2020.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Don’t apologize, I say fuck yeah! To your post! You nailed it!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Personally, I’m tired of old, white men. You know, I was thinking the other day. How many years have we been arguing about the same things? Immigration, Social Security, abortion, etc. Let’s go at these problems with a new perspective.
glenn

That’s why I’m open to sticking my neck out to put young Beto among my faves, along with 2 women, Elizabeth and Amy.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Actually, no, I think Pence would be easier to beat than the lying bully. Pence doesn’t have the cult following that the LB does.
glenn

I’m with you on your picks. Being as that you’re from CA, you’re not a fan of Harris, then?
glenn

Exactly! This is also why, even though AOC has annoyed me a little here and there, I really like her and what she represents. Old men are used to approaching things in the same systematic way they’ve seen things done…and in DC, that isn’t working.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Hmm…maybe you’re right about Pence. He’s a cold fish too, no human warmth.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Ahh, but he loves his mother!
glenn

I have a friend who is an assitant DA in LA and she really dislikes Harris. Then there’s Choicelady who’s very familiar with her and says she’s not how she appears.
AdLib 2 hours ago
The ironic thing about AOC’s tax proposal is that it should be just what conservatives love. After all, it harkens back to the “good ole days”.
glenn

“Mother” is what he calls his wife!
AdLib 2 hours ago
Then, I trust yours and Choice Lady’s judgment about Harris.
glenn

Yes, I know that’s what Pence calls his wife–that’s why I said it.
glenn

What kind of bothered me about Harris is that over the past 2 years, following her on Twitter, she ignored many of the current issues to make “safe” political statements that seemed obvious in positioning herself for running in 2020. I don’t fully trust she is who she represents herself to be.
AdLib 2 hours ago
And Harris has a segment of Dems who call her a “cop”, who see her as being too close to cops and not protecting or standing with victims of police abuse…as happened while she was AG in CA.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Since I never heard of her until recently, I can only go on what she’s said recently. However, I did read about her early days in politics, where many conservatives, and even some Dems, accused of her of “sleeping her way to the top.” While I hate accusations of that kind, it certainly would be an albatross around her neck, just like all of the baggage that Hillary carried.
glenn

She’s not a bad person or candidate, I think she’s been brilliant in every hearing I’ve seen her. I just don’t know that she would be a real champion for the people as Beto, Elizabeth or Amy could be.
AdLib 2 hours ago
Yes, saw that “too much of a prosecutor” accusation, too. As I say, it looks like she has way too much baggage, and it’s hard to say what kind of campaign she would run. I just hope the Dem primaries are not so cut-throat that when we end up with a candidate, we end up with a divided party.
glenn

Those kinds of attacks I ignore, ones that are so misogynist. I’m fine with toughly criticizing candidates who are women, no differently than I would with men but when I see claims like that, they seem so sexist.
AdLib 2 hours ago
The thing I liked most about her in seeing her in hearings was her calm and precise manner. She was very careful how she worded her questions, and showed a calm demeanor.
glenn

I agree. I don’t think we should give any credence to those kinds of attacks, but then again, I’m not a right wing nut!
glenn

Good point and one I’ve seen others making (even Harris supporters!). We should be honest and really get to know and criticize any Dem candidates but the focus should be on promoting the ones we prefer and not trying to trash the ones we don’t. I won’t tolerate Dems trying to savage other Dem candidates just to make way for their fave.
AdLib 2 hours ago
I’m just saying that the right wing would run with those kind of attacks, and of course, so would the media!
glenn

True but those kinds of attacks can boomerang too and hurt the RWs and Repubs. Rallying the women’s vote even more so for the Dem.
AdLib 2 hours ago
That’s why I have a real fondness for Beto. He managed to run his campaign with HIS message without attacking cruz. IMO, if you’re attacking an opponent by stating the opponent’s policy, then you’re only giving their policy amplification. It’s YOUR policy you should be giving amplification, not your opponent’s.
glenn

I can’t wait for whoever the nom is to debate Trump (or Pence). By 2020, many economists think we may be in a softer economy or even recession. Without the economy, what does Trump or Pence have to run on? A massively growing deficit? A divided and hostile country? Greater poverty and less people with health insurance? A wall?
AdLib 2 hours ago
You make a great point. If Beto could run against someone as disgusting and dishonest as Ted Cruz and stay positive, he can do the same against Trump.
AdLib 2 hours ago
So, it comes that time again, Ad, when I say good night. Always enjoy chatting with you and gaining insights. Yup, it’s going to be an interesting campaign and it will probably begin much sooner than we want. Good night, Ad. Take care, and have a good weekend.
glenn

Remember when we were discussing Beto here and agreed that whether Beto wins or loses against Cruz, it can be a win because he can run against Trump? Well…we’re so smart!
