Vox Populi, our live weekly chat begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then!
AdLib 5 hours ago
greetinsshh frum Normay.
pinkpantheroz

hi glenn!
pinkpantheroz

Hey PPO, For some reason I cannot see the very top of VOX, are you the only one here?
glenn

glenn, are you affected or your family, by the storm?
pinkpantheroz

Yes, glenn, you and me are all I see. Ad must have gone walkabout!
pinkpantheroz

PPO–No, we are supposed to get some rain Sunday night, but that’s about it. I am pretty far west in GA; very close to the TN border.
glenn

That must be a relief, g!
pinkpantheroz

Hiya Murph!
pinkpantheroz

I am here too. Hi PPO and Glenn!
MurphTheSurf3

Yea, it is. After so many years in FL, avoiding hurricanes, the last thing I wanted to do is have to avoid one in GA!
glenn

Hey Murph–how are you?
glenn

I have a sister in SC who lives in Charleston. They evacuated to Colombia and are right in the path of the storm as a result.
MurphTheSurf3

Glenn…pretty well esp. after today’s court room developments.
MurphTheSurf3

I realise that some folk can’t afford to move, but I get steamed at the fools who are just contrary and put rescuers in danger. Darwin needs them badly!
pinkpantheroz

Murph–Oh no! Hope your sister stays safe.
glenn

Murph–yeah, it seems the dominoes keep falling around the lying bully. Gee, what a shame!
glenn

Glenn….she is with her daughter and son in law and are well away from the river and up on a high hill.
MurphTheSurf3

Ouch, Murph. I hope they make it through without too much damage or injury
pinkpantheroz

PPO–I know. It frosts me too. And, that rescuers try to get them out so early, putting themselves in danger.
glenn

And put all of that up against the comparisons with what little was done in Puerto Rico.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–that’s good to hear. At first, it seemed this storm was going to be a wind “event”, but now it seems to be more a water event, especially with storm surges.
glenn

Do we think Kavanaugh will get the nod?
pinkpantheroz

Glenn….that is so….water from the sky, water from the ocean meeting in the middle with no where to go.
MurphTheSurf3

Hey PPO!
AdLib 4 hours ago
The wind will be a factor as well. The roots of trees will be weakened by the saturATED GROUND
pinkpantheroz

sorry capslock!
pinkpantheroz

PPO–Unfortunately, I think he will. I think these sexual allegations are really not much, considering how long ago they were. I wish the Dems could nail him on perjury, though, but I think they need more documents, which the GOP won’t release, to button down the perjury charges.
glenn

hi Ad!
pinkpantheroz

PPO….this whole Kavanaugh business feels strange to me…..from high school….never came up in three previous confirmations….the allegation was in the Dem’s hands in July….I do not know where this can go.
MurphTheSurf3

Hey Ad.
MurphTheSurf3

Just got off the phone with my friend who is in NC on the coast and rode out the hurricane. He’s and his wife and dog are all good but it was insane.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey Murph!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad, just had a snark about the contrary fools who wouldn’t leave
pinkpantheroz

BRB, have to refresh my Vox window!
AdLib 4 hours ago
There we go
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad….I have a sister staying in Columbia SC…..the evacuated from Charleston right into the storm’s path.
MurphTheSurf3

Hey Ad–we thought you were on walkabout. Glad to hear your friend is okay.
glenn

Ad, nasty not to be fresh! Fungus yeuch!
pinkpantheroz

My friend just moved there 2 years ago with his wife to retire. He’s a very outdoorsy guy and very smart but he wanted to stay there because he was concerned about how long it would take to get back. He did say he would absolutely never do it again.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph–I agree. I think the Dems misplayed this one badly! I think they should keep the pressure on regarding perjury, not these decades-old allegations.
glenn

Glenn…I am with you on this…
MurphTheSurf3

right strategy, glenn.
pinkpantheroz

Ad–People don’t understand how powerful hurricanes are, and how scary it is to be in the path of one. I’d rather wait a few days to get back to my house than have to go through one again.
glenn

I saw moms and others giving their reasons for why they were staying and I would just think, “Idiots!” because I knew a number of people who went through Katrina. And didn’t like the idea of responders risking their lives to rescue them. But my friend was just new to the whole hurricane thing, he didn’t know what he was in for.
AdLib 4 hours ago
such a better idea, glenn. And it keeps First Responders safe as well.
pinkpantheroz

Hey glenn!
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad, surely he’s seen Al Roker blown off his chubby feet!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–understand what you’re saying about your friend. However, that’s why we have experts; people who have actually been through these things before, and know the damage that can be done. I’m just glad for your friend that he learned his lesson; and didn’t suffer any human loss. You can always replace your property; you can’t replace your life of the lives of your loved ones.
glenn

..or the lives of your loved ones. Oops!
glenn

Hey, has anyone seen the property list Manafort had to relinquish? How could anyone have that much property – lawfully I mean?
pinkpantheroz

Kavanaugh may get to do the Clarence Thomas Slither onto the SCOTUS but Dems will pick up a Senate seat in Maine because Susan Collins will have been exposed as a fraud on women’s rights.
AdLib 4 hours ago
PPO–Well, isn’t that the whole point? That he didn’t have that much property, lawfully. I really think his greed did him in; always follow the money!
glenn

Ad, Collins has a history of doublecrossing her constituents.
pinkpantheroz

True, glenn. No more ostrich coats for that dude
pinkpantheroz

Ad–think there are any republicans other than Collins and the one from Alaska (can’t think of her name) that have a chance of voting against K?
glenn

I was pleased, though surprised, at the Manafort agreement today.
MurphTheSurf3

glenn – So true! Have you been through a hurricane? I literally flew out of New Orleans the day before Katrina, was working there before and after, I don’t take hurricanes lightly, too many stories by people I know about how insane and terrible it can be.
AdLib 4 hours ago
PPO–And no more dye jobs! His hair is getting more gray daily!
glenn

PPO – Even hurricane can’t get rid of Al Roker.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hi Jenuwin!
AdLib 4 hours ago
glenn
pinkpantheroz

Hi AdLib and Everyone!
Jenuwin

Hi, Jen
pinkpantheroz

Hi Pink!
Jenuwin

I think Trump will be hanging on to his paper towel rolls, he’s gunna need em.
pinkpantheroz

Jenuwin! Welcome.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–Yes. My husband and I were in the Keys during Andrew. We spent the night in our bedroom closet with our mattresses buttressing the door. The worst part of Andrew was how it cut the Keys off from the mainland, because it affected our electric grid, which was tied into Homestead, which was where Andrew hit.
glenn

glenn – That’s what I was telling him on Monday, to forget about the house, it’s only things, and protect himself, his wife and their dog. I don’t think he realized how much he was really risking their safety.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad–Also, the aftermath…no one could get into the Keys to replenish food supplies, etc. Plus, we had to rely on only the electric grid that existed in the Keys, so electricity was “rationed”. Luckily, we were right on the water, had plenty of ceiling fans on our porch, so we could survive in the August heat in the Keys.
glenn

The lack of electricity is the biggest hazard, due spoilage, no sewerage pumps and other essential facilities. A long road ahead to repair
pinkpantheroz

PPO–Yes, and the repairs can be very dangerous, because of the debris all over the place.
glenn

PPO – Exactly, someone like Manafort could only acquire so much property and be broke at the same time by participating in money laundering. Mueller had Manafort buried, the list of detailed charges was read off today in court and went on and on. The reason Manafort’s cooperating is because he saw the massive cannon pointed at him and that it would be shared with state AGs if he was pardoned and he gave up.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Hey, Jenuwin!
glenn

Hi Glen!
Jenuwin

Ad…he is also cooperating because he has come to the conclusion that Mueller is much more to be trusted than Trump.
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – But Collins double crossing her voters on the tax cut fraud AND putting on Kavanaugh who will chop down Roe, the ACA, etc. It will be the last betrayal by that fraud.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad, how many of Trumps cronies are dreading the footsteps outside the door, then the knock. New underwear time for many
pinkpantheroz

BTW, Mueller is now in profit!
pinkpantheroz

PPO Donald Trump Junior must be jittery as hell.
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–I think Manafort realized that this second trial might be worse than the first, if he actually took it to a jury. He skated on a lot of charges in the first; but I don’t think he would’ve gotten such a good “deal” on this second. Seems like Mueller had much more info/documentation on this one.
glenn

glenn – I don’t know if Murkowski from Alaska will pay the price for voting for Kavanaugh. Even though her core supporters oppose him, Alaskan Native Born people, it’s a red state. Maine is not and Collins’ sham of pretending she’s a moderate will be destroyed as strong challengers take her on in 2020.
AdLib 4 hours ago
PPO–Perhaps they can buy their new underwear from Nike?
glenn

And Manafort only escaped guilty findings on all the charges by one juror.
MurphTheSurf3

Murph–Not only DJTJr., but also Jared, Eric, and possibly even Ivanka.
glenn

glenn , I think Colin might object!
pinkpantheroz

glenn – What a nightmare!!! Glad you were both okay! How long did it take for electricity to be restored?
AdLib 4 hours ago
Ad–Agree about Murkowski; I was just wondering if you thought she would vote against Kavanaugh. Any possibility that there will be any republican “mavericks” voting against him?
glenn

Don’t know if you all have read about the schoolgirl here in OZ who refuses to stand for the National Anthem, due to treatment of the First Peoples here. The GOP-style Gummint wants to expel her! Uproar!
pinkpantheroz

PPO–Nah, I think Colin should deliver the new underwear to them!
glenn

glenn – That’s what I told my friend to try and convince him to evacuate, it’s the aftermath when most people suffer and die. Lack of electricity, medicine, food, etc. Good thing you had the fans and especially water! The Keys are beautiful but so vulnerable.
AdLib 4 hours ago
glenn, Ivanka’s cheap shoddy should be good enough for them.
pinkpantheroz

PPO – Yes, can’t forget either the illness from water that floods toxic areas and washes it everywhere. In NC, you have coal ash, pig farms, so many ways that flood waters can be made toxic.
AdLib 4 hours ago
Murph – Yes, Manafort knows that he can’t trust Trump anymore than Trump can trust him. But I think Manafort realized his family would be left penniless unless he made a deal. A pardon wouldn’t restore all the money and property the Feds took from him. I guarantee you part of the deal was letting his wife keep her home and some money.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, yes, that pig farm slurry is nasty.
pinkpantheroz

Ad–It took about two weeks for electricity to be fully restored. Neither my husband nocr I were working at the time, so we just stayed home and “relaxed”. It got kinda weird for a while, because people were accusing each other of using air conditioners, which we weren’t supposed to be using. It was like the “electricity police” all over the place. Especially in downtown Key West, where the shops were trying to entice tourists in. Yes, tourists started coming back in as soon as they could get a plane in. It was funny to watch it from a distance–we lived about 18 miles outside of Key West.
glenn

Ad…and I think that Manafort has worries about his family’s safety;
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – How many of Trump’s relatives are now in the fetal position in their bed watching their front doors to be kicked down. Jared and Don Jr. were in the Trump Tower meeting, they should be terrified now.
AdLib 3 hours ago
brb dry mouth!
pinkpantheroz

PPO–Hadn’t heard about the schoolgirl. Good on her!
glenn

PPO – The first time a Special Counsel made a profit for the US!
AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO–I don’t think Ivanka makes men’s underwear. Don’t want to picture the lot of them wearing women’s underwear!
glenn

Ad–When I said we lived on the water, that was because living on the water is always cooler than dry land. We couldn’t use that water; it is salt water. The Keys uses an aquaduct to get fresh water; luckily that wasn’t damaged, so we had water from the taps.
glenn

glenn – Agreed, Manafort knew after his last trial that he would lose big time in the DC case, especially because the judge and jury would be far less sympathetic. I do think he concluded that the only way to preserve any money for his family (I’ve seen this in Goodfellas, Sopranos and many gangster shows and films) was to make a deal with the Feds. And maybe, he has fears about Russian mobsters coming after him and his family for what he knows and only the Feda can really protect them.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad and Murph–It’s interesting that Manafort was worried about his family’s safety. From whom did he think they were not safe?
glenn

Murph – Yep, and I am waiting to hear more about that 1 juror who stood in the way of Manafort being charged with all counts. Nothing so far.
AdLib 3 hours ago
glenn… Shades of Arpaio! Poetic justice seeing as Trump pardoned that cretin
pinkpantheroz

Glenn….russians I think….
MurphTheSurf3

Ad–I know; ain’t it wonderful that Jared and Don Jr. should be shaking in their designer boots?
glenn

Murph….want dome polonium with your fries?
pinkpantheroz

PPO……yeah
MurphTheSurf3

Dudes and dudettes!
Harleigh

glenn – I don’t think so, The GOP has become an amoral cult, I can’t imagine any of them except possibly Murkowski and Collins voting no on Kavanaugh. And I think that’s less likely than they’re voting for him. But they will both pay dearly with the voters for this.
AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO–LOL!
glenn

Hey Harleigh!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Harleigh! How you be?
glenn

HArleigh!
pinkpantheroz

Howdy Harleigh
MurphTheSurf3

PPO – Yes, saw the story about the girl and I’m so surprised it’s gone as far as it has! Public schools are supposed to be for the public, not just those who practice a particular reigion.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Going thru med cleances to remove a alien implant on the back of my neck next week. Strange as shit last couple of weeks huh?
Harleigh

Ad–I truly think that this SCOTUS nomination, the tax cuts, and destroying Obamacare, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are why the repubs haven’t done anything about the lying bully so far. They want to make sure all their evil, horrible agenda is enacted before they do anything about the LB.
glenn

Ivanka should be busy designing her prison wardrobe.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad, many ‘public’ schools were ‘subcontracted out to religous orders. Cheaper!
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh–oh my! Hope you’re doing better without any alien baggage!
glenn

glenn – Very funny about the AC police! I can see it though, people are trying to follow the rules on limited electricity and get pissed at others if they thought they were breaking the rules. But FL can be so tough without AC!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–yeah, and maybe she can “contract” the prisoners to sew them for her. After all, the labor is cheap, maybe even cheaper than Bangladesh and China.
glenn

LOL, glenn. That will keep the family together!
pinkpantheroz

It will be nice to get rid of the voices!
Harleigh

Murph – Yep, Manafort has good reason to worry, he was in bed with Russian, Ukranian, etc.-ian, mobsters who don’t want to see him talking to the Feds.
AdLib 3 hours ago
anafort will only be 80 when he gets out with no money.
Harleigh

glenn – Right, I knew what you meant. Have been to the Keys and found them surreal in a beautiful way. Wanted to keep driving through all of them but ran out of time.
AdLib 3 hours ago
He’ll starve to death long before. Imagine the change from Steak Diane to mystery meat?
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh – Don’t pick at your alien implants, it only irritates the skin and the alien entities living in them.
AdLib 3 hours ago
… and don’t feed them!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–My husband and I got married in 1966, and didn’t have a house with a/c until the late 70’s. And that was only an a/c in one room. Houses in FL used to be built to be able to live without a/c. Concrete block construction, terrazzo floors, ceiling fans, jalousie windows–all that good stuff. It wasn’t until about the late 80’s, early 90’s that they started building houses like northern houses. Hence, the need for a/c. It was all those “damn yankees” who were so “delicate” that they couldn’t stand the heat.
glenn

AD there was a article about a guy trying to outrun the cops in the keys for DUI! LOLOLOL
Harleigh

Harleigh–LOL! But won’t you be lonely without the voices?
glenn

Well guys….early leaving tonight. Dead tired. Working for Claire now and that is proving to be a challenge in my area….we are hitting that she opposed the right to work legislation and that her opponent backed it.
MurphTheSurf3

‘Night Murph–great “seeing” you tonight. Take care!
glenn

Keep up the good fight, Murph!
pinkpantheroz

nite Murph
Harleigh

glenn – What the cowardly and amoral Repubs haven’t recognized is that their forcing through all these policies and judges that a big majority of America opposes, will result in them being voted out of power and Dems reversing most of what they’ve done. What a brilliant plan, force despised judges and policies on the people who will hold you responsible for it in elections. This is backfiring hugely and they are oblivious! And what will happen to them when Dems control Congress and the WH and push through every judge and policy they want, their heads will blow up.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–There is nothing like the Keys. They are a beautiful place to live. How far down did you get?
glenn

Looks like floriduh is going to elect Gillum for gubner! And he’s Black!
Harleigh

Harleigh–that’s funny about the DUI guy! Like there are so many roads besides US1 for him to go.
glenn

PPO – Now the mistake of letting religions control public schools becomes all too clear.
AdLib 3 hours ago
It iis amusing to know…Manafort is STAYING in prison for many years!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Glen floriduh has some of the dumbest folks in the land.
Harleigh

Deathly silence from Mr. ‘Don’t worry I’ll pardon you’
pinkpantheroz

Spanky will get his.I think some of his slime offspring are next.
Harleigh

Ad–I know. I saw an article the other day where a pollster said that America is not really divided. According to all the polls he has tracked and run, it’s Americans against republicans. Most independents and Dems agree on most of the big issues. It’s the repubs who are the minority. So, it’s not a divided America; it’s repubs against the majority. I just hope that all Dems and independents show up for the midterms to show the repubs how united we are against THEM!
glenn

Harleigh–It’s looking good for Gillum. And from what I read, his opponent keeps shooting himself in the foot with his speeches, and interviews.
glenn

Repubes are the enemy of duhmurikkka fer shure.
Harleigh

glenn – I think it was Malcolm Gladwell who proposed that our political situation, with red and blue states, is all because of AC. Once AC became widesread in the south, people migrated down there in large numbers which allowed them to build greater numbers of Reps in The House and grow the Southern conservative sensibility. Damn AC brought us Trump! Thanks for nothing AC. Though thanks for cooling down my house in LA, really, thanks!
AdLib 3 hours ago
glenn, It is more essential now to flip to Blue and stop the gerrymander
pinkpantheroz

Harleigh–I know, except for you and me, right? And my nephew and his partner are good guys living in Florida!
glenn

Harleigh – That guy was brilliant, what was he going to do when he hit the end of the Keys? Swim?
AdLib 3 hours ago
I’m laughing at the reaction of the RWNJs over Willie Nelson’s concert for Beto!
pinkpantheroz

Ad–that’s an interesting theory about a/c. Love it!
glenn

Desantis was outed as a white supreme nazi! Goes to meetings with some of the worst. Rick Scott won’t make the senate for all the damage he’s done. Looks good for Nelson.
Harleigh

glenn – Can’t remember how far I got but I kept thinking we had gotten pretty far than saw it went even farther. We stopped for lunch and drinks at a very touristy place, it was fun!
AdLib 3 hours ago
PPO–I agree. We are seeing some changes in governorships, too. Hopefully, we can get a Dem governor here in GA, and one in FL too. I think there are some other states with Dems in good positions to win. We’ll see.
glenn

Harleigh – I think Gillum will win and that will be amazing fr FL and the US! With Dems winning governorships in swing states, the next census and drawing of districts could help erase the perverse advantage the Repubs have through gerrymandering.
AdLib 3 hours ago
AD the guy wrecked his pickup and tried to hide under a bridge in the dark! LOL what a maroon.
Harleigh

Ad–Well, there are lots of touristy places to stop and have lunch and drinks. And some of them are really pretty good, too! Yeah, that drive from Homestead just to get to Key Largo (the first key) is a long one. Then you have about another 2-3 hours to get down to Key West. The drive is worth it, though.
glenn

No A no floriduh or most hot weather states.
Harleigh

glenn – If gerrymandering can be reduced, our corrupted democracy that allows a minority to have power over the majority could be fixed. Dems need to win key Governor races and state legislature control this Nov and they will have power to fix our democracy in 2021.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–if Dems win more governorships, it certainly will go a long way to erasing repub gerrymandering. What Dems need also, is a great ground game, and to think for the future, like we had when Dean was DNC chair.
glenn

From Hoestead to KW is 120 miles mostly on a 2 lane bridge.
Harleigh

Homestead is all brand new since it got leveled by Andrew in 92
Harleigh

glenn – It was a revelation to me but makes perfect sense to me. The advent of refrigerators and AC changed the South from an area that was so difficult to retain and attract population, into an area equally livable to areas in the north. Hence the shoft in population to The South after AC became widely used.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Well, Folks, that’s it for me. Keep up the good fight. See you all next week, DG.
pinkpantheroz

Started in the 60’s…. buy 10 acres for 1,000 or less! dredge the swamps etc
Harleigh

night ppo….. Im right behind ya…
Harleigh

Harleigh–Yeah, it is, and it’s a gorgeous drive. My husband and I used to drive up to Islamorada on a Sunday afternoon just for the drive. Then we’d stop at the restaurant at Bass Pro Shops (can’t remember the name) and have lunch. Good times!
glenn

‘Night PPO. Take care.
glenn

Harleigh – I think Gillum’s appeal will bring in more Dem voters who will also vote for Nelson, he could cause both to win.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Stuffed Pig
Harleigh

Ad–I agree, it does make sense. It certainly changed Florida–some for the worse, some for the better.
glenn

Nelson is incumbent and Scott is the reason we got red tides and green slime from big sugar.
Harleigh

glenn – We liked the restaurant we went to in the Keys, often the very touristy places aren’t so good but this was. Can’t remember too many details about it but remember it was surprisingly good. The Keys are so beautiful!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Harleigh–nah, the Stuffed Pig is in Marathon. That, I remember! There may be one in Islamorada, too, but that’s not the one that’s attached to the big Bass Pro Shop in Islamorado. I think the shop is called Fisherman’s Paradise, or something like that, and the restaurant is attached to the shop, right on the bay.
glenn

glenn – I think there is so much enthusiasm among the Dem voters and those who are running, that the victories this year will be surprising. I expect a lot bigger advantage in the House than is predicted. So many new voters not included in the calculations of polls. It will be a Blue Tsunami I think.
AdLib 3 hours ago
I got 2 frinds that still have a condo in Islamorada. I’ll find out for ya. or a virtual drive. LOL
Harleigh

Harleigh–yeah, I like the way Gillum’s opponent said Gillum was going to change all the things Scott had done. He said that like it was a bad thing. Scott’s pandering to big sugar should be changed!
glenn

Harleigh–thanks. If it were me, I’d take the drive!
glenn

FTL to KW about 3 hours if you don’t stop for keylime pie.
Harleigh

Ad–I am becoming a bit more optimistic about the blue wave. The lying bully is like a bull in a china shop and just keeps breaking everything repubs want to keep on the shelves! Although, the predictions for a Clinton win in 2016 still haunt me!
glenn

glenn – DeSantis launched his campaign in the GE by using a racist term. And buddies up with racists. He is a known commodity now, it only gets worse for him.
AdLib 3 hours ago
linton and Gore both won and look what we got.
Harleigh

Harleigh–The best place to get key lime pie is in Key West at Two Friends Bar, so don’t stop, just keep going to KW!
glenn

Bush and spanky
Harleigh

Very pleased to hear that, glenn! I know you’ve been guarded about Dems winning back the House this year. I completely understand but it’s a good sign that you’re feeling more optimistic about it now.
AdLib 3 hours ago
Alright, gents, time for me to go. Early soccer game tomorrow! Hope to chat with you all next week!
glenn

Have a great time at your granddaughter’s soccer game, glenn!
AdLib 3 hours ago
Ad–I’m going to keep up the hope. Thanks for your encouragement.
glenn
