Hey Murph!
AdLib2 hours ago
Worried about Florida…
AdLib2 hours ago
Looks like the Keys could be wiped out in many places.
AdLib2 hours ago
I have a good friend who lives in the Keys. He left two days ago after packing up and sending away everything that is irreplaceable. He thinks that his home will be gone when he next sees the land on which it stands.
MurphTheSurf3
I’m afraid that may be the case, looks like it’s going to be hit dead on by the eye wall.
AdLiban hour ago
I’ve driven the Keys, it’s amazing. Hoorrible to think about the damage coming that way.
AdLiban hour ago
He has another home in NJ…where he taught for many years. That may return to being his year round home as I think he will sell his property for whatever he can get and stay away from Hurricane Alley.
MurphTheSurf3
Think about a place like this.
MurphTheSurf3
Or this:
MurphTheSurf3
Yes, it’s like a dream! Now of course, a nightmare, so unprotected.
AdLiban hour ago
I can’t imagine how many people will be homeless after this and how long it will take to get everything running again.
AdLiban hour ago
And of course, it’s the wrong time to talk about Climate Change.
AdLiban hour ago
And how will Repubs justify tax cuts for billionaires when hundreds of billions will need to go to repairing Houston and FL?
AdLiban hour ago
I have seen the destruction on the Seaward Islands off of the Carolinas. It will be worse hear….exposed on all sides.
MurphTheSurf3
Hi, Ad, Murph
pinkpantheroz
The Keys are defenseless, Miami Beach is very vulnerable as is the west coast. This is a disaster you would design for a movie.
AdLiban hour ago
Hey PPO!
AdLiban hour ago
Ad, this should be the best rationale for INCREASING the Taxes on the 1%
pinkpantheroz
Note how Trump has gone quiet. I think he has been told that his promise making will spell disaster for his admin (another one)
MurphTheSurf3
Rush now broadcasting from Canada?
pinkpantheroz
Exactly PPO! Hundreds of billions, maybe a trillion in additional costs to the nation and more money is needed by the feds, not less.
AdLiban hour ago
Hrleigh!
pinkpantheroz
Rush, Coulter and Trump properties all on the hit list…AND all three climate change deniers.
MurphTheSurf3
Hey Harleigh! How are you doing? Where are you?
AdLiban hour ago
Hey folks!
Harleigh
Are you safe?
AdLiban hour ago
Ge outta there!
pinkpantheroz
Murph – Only a fraud runs away from a “fraudulent” hurricane.
AdLiban hour ago
I have been impressed with Tom Bossert, the WH Assistant for Homeland Security. Smart fellow. Very balanced and apolitical.
MurphTheSurf3
I am exactly 5 miles west of Ft Laud beach and downtown
Harleigh
in your basement, I hope
pinkpantheroz
Harleigh are you in harm’s way?
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh, is there an evacuation order for your area?
AdLiban hour ago
BRB
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh, are you all stocked up on supplies?
AdLiban hour ago
PPO basements here don’t exist! Last advisory had irma on the other side of the state in Naples. yesterday it was in FTL. hope it keeps moving west
Harleigh
Harleigh, it does appear too be veering west.
AdLiban hour ago
Got generator, oil, gas, propane, batteries, food water…. which don’t mean shit in a residential structure in a 185+mph sustained winds packing tornadoes
Harleigh
Hey everyone! Hope you’re safe – Harleigh are you OK???
choicelady
Hey, CL!
pinkpantheroz
Did you consider evacuating or gooing to a shelter, Harleigh?
AdLiban hour ago
Hey CL!
AdLiban hour ago
OH Yeah!!! So far and it’s looking better
Harleigh
Hey PPO -good to see you, and Ad and Murph!
choicelady
Harleigh – please stay safe. If they tell you to bug out, BUG OUT!!!
choicelady
CL – It’s getting too late to evacuate, not much time left.
AdLiban hour ago
I know. My friends’ parents are almost to Ohio thank goodness. They live in Tampa that now is under the gun.
choicelady
all roads out are parking lots. when irma hits them there they are so….. how you say in duhmurikkka…. fucked.
Harleigh
CL – Glad to hear they’re out of there. I worry that many who can’t afford to leave and many skeptics or diehards could be in real trouble.
AdLiban hour ago
Word from engineers is – keep ALL doors to ALL rooms closed. Even if windows break, do NOT open the door – it keeps the winds from funneling into the house and lifting the roof.
choicelady
I worry about those who CANNOT leave. Not so much about the skeptics. That’s a choice. The poor don’t HAVE choices.
choicelady
Harleigh – Is there a shelter near you that you could go to without having to drive far?
AdLiban hour ago
Harleigh – yup. Fucked is the operative word.
choicelady
CL – Jeez…having to take precautions against your roof being blown off…not something you’d ever imagine you’d have to do.
AdLiban hour ago
The keys are gonna take a hit where irma crosses US1 since that is their water and electricity…. on 100 miles of pylon bridges. LOL
Harleigh
Ad – I know. That’s one of those ‘life lessons’ you don’t ever want to need.
choicelady
Has anyone else any rels down that way?
pinkpantheroz
Harleigh – despite the obvious I have no idea where Mar a Lago is. Can we arrange for the worst to be focused THERE but nowhere else?
choicelady
And keep in mind, 1/3 of Repubs in Congress voted against the money for Houston after Harvey. Might more start to block more billions for Houston and FL?
AdLiban hour ago
I know a couple of people – LGBT folks in South Beach – but not well enough to contact them.
choicelady
CL only in our dreams baby!
Harleigh
Ad – I read that three TEXAS Congressmen voted NO on help for Houston. What fresh hell is THAT?
choicelady
Harleigh – keep dreamin’ babe – keep dreaming!
choicelady
See where Trump panders to religious right asking for funds to go to cheurches that helped in Harvey. Bad response!
pinkpantheroz
Harleigh – The Keys are so fragile in the face of a hurricane like this. They’re going to be so wrecked.
AdLiban hour ago
Choice Lady…how you be….?
MurphTheSurf3
PPO – I will lay odds that is for Osteen and NOT for the mosques, the Methodists, the synagogues. Betcha!
choicelady
Osteen did jack shit.
choicelady
Hey Murph – I’m OK. How be you?
choicelady
Tax money for non-tax paying instirutions who are SJPPOSED to help? I don’t think so
pinkpantheroz
Mar-a-Lago is on the east coast, a little north of Miami Beach. I wish all the destruction could just be focused there.
AdLiban hour ago
PPO – Osteen had a million excuses for not helping. So he gets a million NON Dollars for that.
choicelady
Anyone know how Trumps pad on St. Maartin went?
pinkpantheroz
PPO – his St Maartin house was DESTROYED. Same with Branson. I mourn Branson’s loss, not Trump’s.
choicelady
Anyone heard from the islands totally decimated? I’ve heard NO figures on loss of life.
choicelady
CL – Repubs will cut their own throats if it means protecting their dogma. They are cult members now.
AdLiban hour ago
Same here, cl. thanks.
pinkpantheroz
Ad – I hope everyone remembers this in 2018. They should be voted out then ridden out of town on a rail!!! Not into tar and feathring – that’s lethal – but maybe honey and feathering.
choicelady
Mar a lago is 70 miles north of miami by West Palm Beach. Ft Lauderdale is between them in the middle. LOL
Harleigh
Well, HArleigh I won’t wish destruction on MAL if it hurts YOU.
choicelady
CL – I’ve just seen the devastation.
AdLiban hour ago
H, that means Storm Surge 5-10 feet should dampoen the Mar a Lago carpets a bit!
pinkpantheroz
Ad – I know. The photos are shocking. We are facing “The Day After Tomorrow” in our lifetime.
choicelady
I was in Homestead after Andrew. whoa doggies…. nothing standing.
Harleigh
PPO – I want MAL raized to the ground. But hey – that’s just me. And I want NO ONE ELSE to suffer in the blast.
choicelady
I know it’s mean and petty but I really hope Mar-A-Lago is massively destroyed.
AdLiban hour ago
Harleigh – I remember. Horrid.
choicelady
I am back….just scanned all of the posts since I stepped away. I thought I would call my friend who had his major home in the Keys. He is back in NJ now. He had a moving company come to his house and remove everything that he cannot replace. This was his writing retreat so lots of books, lots of paper, his computers, and many mementos plus some wonderful paintings…..the rest, replaceable. He did have the whole place closed up and Choice’s advice regarding keeping all doors closed is back up by him. He went a step further and has long rods holding inner shutters closed. He has been there for other storms, including one hurricane and he has done a lot to storm proof the house but he remains very pessimistic.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – same here, but NOT if it harms Harleigh.
choicelady
Coulter, Limbaugh and Trump all have big property there and all are climate deniers.
MurphTheSurf3
Mar-a-Lago is basically on an island, water to the east and west. It could flood yugely!
AdLiban hour ago
Murph – WOW – I’m glad he’s OUT and is doing all he can to protect his home, but – OMG to HAVE to do that…!!!
choicelady
Murph, Wow! Lucky he can afford it.
pinkpantheroz
Murph – Limbaugh is OUT – despite saying this is a hoax – he’s fucking OUT.
choicelady
cl I thinnk he’s in Canada!
pinkpantheroz
CL – Those Repubs will have to run on wanting Texans to suffer. How brainwashed are Repub voters?
AdLiban hour ago
CL….smart guy but he has the money to do what he did.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO SERIOUSLY? Rush went to Canada? Surprise is they let him IN.
choicelady
CL Coulter has bailed as well and Trump is in the WH (in charge! HaH)
MurphTheSurf3
ANyone know why 3 Texas Senators voted AGAINST Harvey funds?
pinkpantheroz
cl, nah, but somewhere well away from danger!
pinkpantheroz
Murph, so glad to hear he was so smart and prepared to move his important things out. I’m afraid his fear is well placed. The Keys may never be the same.
AdLiban hour ago
limpbag etc are all in Palm Beach county. He was ranting irma is a hoax and they evacuated!!! ya can’t make it up….
Harleigh
CL….my friend acted very early. And now Jose is on the way. This is single most active hurricane period in history.
MurphTheSurf3
I have friends who were on a catamaran off Antigua. When they heard the projection, they set sail to Martinique and the sheltered harbor used by pirates of the Caribbean. They weathered it find, did night sails to get there, and tonight are in Montreal, safe. I’m overjoyed they are OK – but we ALL fear for those left behind.
choicelady
PPO – the three TEXAS Congress people are assholes that’s why.
choicelady
Sorry, Congress
pinkpantheroz
PPO- they belong to the so called “Freedom Caucus” and were voting against the Debt Ceiling and Continuing Budget Resolution deal that Trump made with Pelosi and Schumer.
MurphTheSurf3
My friend’s parents, your friend – wise. They need to stay put until, oh, Christmas!!!
choicelady
Coulter dissed Houston and anyone claiming Harvey’s size was caused by Climate Change. Now she’s run off like a Scooby Doo character alongside Limbaugh!
AdLiban hour ago
Murph – when ideology overwhelms concern for your constitutents, you are certifiably an asshole.
choicelady
Murph, cl, you can’t legislate Stup… never mind Sigh
pinkpantheroz
PPO – Of course CL has a less political explanation than I do but it is undoubted true.
MurphTheSurf3
PPO – you can’t FIX stupid. Got it.
choicelady
CL…..not arguing with you.
MurphTheSurf3
BRB Fergie calls!
pinkpantheroz
Coulter, Limbaugh and Climate Change deniers in FL:
Murph – there’s something wrong with the GOP extremists. I cannot tolerate that!
choicelady
Ad – LOL – yes – perfect image!
choicelady
Irma moving South to North – with the West Side getting the worst….that is how it looks…and the worst will be very much worse than previous experiences.
MurphTheSurf3
CL – So happy your friends are safe!
AdLiban hour ago
Murph – with Tampa on the West, my friend’s parents made the right decision. Do not know if they will have a home to return to.
choicelady
Ad – so am I!!!
choicelady
Water off the coasts of Florida are 84 to 88 degrees….bath water…fuel for hurricanes.
MurphTheSurf3
CL. I was born in tampa and have a beautiful painting of the shore line of Tampa Bay in 1950 in my home.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I dated a guy (OK he turned out to be a major asshole, but hey) who worked for Scripps Institute back in 1965. He wrote to me then, that they were detecting ocean warming that was dangerous. That was 52 YEARS ago (I was very young of course) and no one paid attention until Al Gore.
choicelady
I would argue that Republicanism more resembles a cult than a political party. They happily and knowingly will drink the poisoned Kool-Aid because it’s ordered by their dogma.
AdLiban hour ago
Oh Murph – I hope that doesn’t become the lingering memory of what Tampa was!!!
choicelady
Ad – yes they will. I cannot help but wish they experience destruction first hand to know how ideology never overwhelms reality.
choicelady
I’ve spent some time in Miami and Miami Beach, seen the flooding seeping up in the streets so I’m very worried at what will happen with Irma.
AdLib44 minutes ago
Ad – that is so scary!
choicelady
CL…I share you reaction to all of this. My friend loves the Keys. I love Miami and Tampa. I have seen the same things in Miami that you have…flooding as a regular part of life in the rain and in the sunlight.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – we may see ALL costal areas having to relocate. it’s mind boggling – unless Ad Lib’s idea comes to fruition. He said you all talked about it last week.
choicelady
I mentioned to Murph earlier, I’ve driven some of the Keys and it’s a bit surreal, so beautiful though.
AdLib41 minutes ago
CL….yes…a great discussion…I have encourage Ad to turn it into a real think piece and publish it.
MurphTheSurf3
Right now I’m in agony over the fires in Columbia River Gore, my most FAVE place in the world. Unthinkable destruction from teens throwing fire crackers into the dry foliage and laughing about it. Heartbroken!
choicelady
Word from Miami…last flight left from MIA a few minutes ago. None until the hurricane is no longer a threat.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I’m with you on Ad Lib’s moving this forward.
choicelady
OMG – last flight!!!
choicelady
Choice…I wondered about the Gorge. You have mentioned this before.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I’ve discussed it with CL, I am interested in creating a proposal for such a program of water pumping stations in flood areas being Phase 1 and pipelines to bring the treated water to drought states.
AdLib39 minutes ago
I’m NOT a doctrinaire Christian, but these are the times I wish and hope there is “someone listening”.
choicelady
Ad…sounds like a grand idea.
MurphTheSurf3
AL that’s a pipe dream! LOL
Harleigh
CL – And of course we had a record breaking fire here in LA!
AdLib38 minutes ago
Murph and Ad – LOVE the idea, don’t think it’s extreme at all. Within the bounds of technological capacity, so…why NOT?
choicelady
Harleigh!!!! Too funny!!!
choicelady
Harleigh –
AdLib38 minutes ago
CL….you know my understanding of GOD……not hands on…..if he/she/it/they is/are then the creature should be fired.
MurphTheSurf3
I was horrified by that, Ad Lib – but I have a particular place in my heart for that spot in Oregon. That it was started by asshole teens is unbearable.
choicelady
Murph – LOL – totally agree!!!
choicelady
Harleigh-de-Har-Har!
MurphTheSurf3
New Orleans has water pumping stations right now. They can pump up to 1 trillion gallons of water per minute (when they’re all working). Imagine how much flooding in Houston, FL, etc. could be mitigated and drained quicker.
AdLib37 minutes ago
Ad….excellent point.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – exactly. No reason NOT to – it’s not remotely ‘controversial”.
choicelady
CHoice…thanks.
MurphTheSurf3
There is video coming in from the Islands that have been hit so far….frightening.
MurphTheSurf3
I’m not above an ‘interventionist old guy w a beard’ on take offs and landings, but that’s MY problem!
choicelady
CL – I’ve always thought, and have never said it too publicly, that if terrorists wanted to really cause havoc in the US, all they need is a few plane tickets and a pack of matches.
AdLib35 minutes ago
Murph – I’ve seen it, and it’s horrific.
choicelady
CL…more like “your wishful thinking!” You are entitled.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – agreed. Especially in the West.
choicelady
Irma- now a storm the size of Texas.
MurphTheSurf3
OMG – TEXAS???????
choicelady
Murph – I’m a ‘white knuckle” flyer. Had LOTS of horrible experiences in my youth, and I now fly with a mantra: “keep us up. Keep us up. Keep us up” because I HATE flying!
choicelady
Murph – Water pumping stations are existing and deployed technology. My suggestion is to look at this as the most critical infrastructure investment that will literally save billions and eventionally trillions for cities, states and the nation. More than pay for themselves many times over.
AdLib33 minutes ago
eventually…
AdLib33 minutes ago
CL…I like to fly but I hate the experience of it now.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad – as the impacts of climate change become obvious to even the idiots, this makes SO MUCH SENSE!
choicelady
Ad….I cannot wait to read your opus on this.
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh – you OK there???
choicelady
back, sorry for delay. Current fatalities 21+
pinkpantheroz
Deploy them in all flood prone areas. Then treat the sewage water which can be piped to farms, lakes, etc. in drought areas. Billions of gallons of wastewater drained from flood areas and put to good use.
AdLib31 minutes ago
Miami to West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale will be missed, but on the West coast….apocalyptic.
MurphTheSurf3
Evening, gents. How is everyone?
glenn
PPO – where? I think it must be MUCH more.
choicelady
glenn!
pinkpantheroz
GLENN – how ARE you?
choicelady
Hey glenn! How are you doing? Irma is heading your way too!
AdLib31 minutes ago
Hi, glenn……focusing on Hurricanes tonight….is there any action on this in your neck of the woods.
MurphTheSurf3
Lots of islands inaccessable
pinkpantheroz
Hey all! CL, didn’t see your name on the list. Sorry for calling you a “gent”. I’m fine, how are you?
glenn
PPO – I think the death toll will soar once people get to those islands.
choicelady
I’m very fine but in anguish for ALL of you on the East coast!
choicelady
Murph–yes, it looks like we may get some of Irma the beginning of next week.
glenn
CL I bet so too.
Harleigh
for sure. Mexico 60+ from Quake PLUS Hurricane on way!
pinkpantheroz
Glenn…that is how I read it.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad–yeah, who woulda thunk that western GA would get a hurricane?
glenn
CL – I’m afraid you’re right about that, to early for officials to know how many in the islands have been killed.
AdLib29 minutes ago
glenn – the rain is probably sustainble, but I hope you miss the wind!
choicelady
PPO – Mexico is definitely NOT needing this story after the quake!
choicelady
Harleigh-sorry for asking you again if you’ve already answered this question. Where are you? Are you still in Ft Lauderdale?
glenn
glenn – I heard that in some parts of GA, there’s no available hotel rooms!
AdLib28 minutes ago
STORM. Not Story.
choicelady
Watching TV now, looks like traffic is moving okay out of Tampa.
AdLib27 minutes ago
Ad–not sure about the hotel rooms, but it doesn’t surprise me.
glenn
Glenn – yep.
Harleigh
cl gottit
pinkpantheroz
Harleigh– so you’re riding it out? Stay safe, my friend.
glenn
I have been impressed that price gouging has remained relatively low key in this disaster. Social media is discouraging this behavior I think.
MurphTheSurf3
Poor Mexico, and they were quick to try and help Americans in Houston.
AdLib26 minutes ago
It’s projected to land 90 miles west of me!
Harleigh
Ad…glad you brought up Mexico….now will we return the favor.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – privately we will. USA gov’t? Not so much.
choicelady
Murph – I did see airlines charging thousands more, gouging massively. I think I saw charging $4000 for a coach ticket.
AdLib25 minutes ago
Ad – social outcry ENDED price gouging on EVEN Delta that did that.
choicelady
Murph–re price gouging–pretty impressed with Jet Blue, I think it is, with $99 fares.
glenn
Harleigh – Are you going to be okay? That’s very worrying!
AdLib24 minutes ago
Ad, social media soon put a stop to gouging. FLa AG went after them!
pinkpantheroz
MANY good airlines did not take advantage of people
choicelady
Ad..I saw that too…but I am having a hard time pinning that down as a practice.
MurphTheSurf3
Harleigh–still, with the size of this storm, 90 miles still brings you a lot of storm.
glenn
Murph – Delta did it. Read an article about it. They were stopped.
choicelady
Jet Blue voluntarily kept all their tickets at $99. Everyone should remember and reward them with their business for that.
AdLib23 minutes ago
Ad – agreed. I believe Southwest did the same – ordinary fares.
choicelady
CL – Not surprised Southwest would do the same, they’re employee owned, aren’t they?
AdLib23 minutes ago
If irma lands 100 miles west of me it’ll only be some rain here.
Harleigh
Ad – yes, owned and MANAGED by employees. They’d never tolerate gouging!
choicelady
Harleigh – I want the BEST for you! Keep AdLib posted through the weekend will you?
choicelady
CL–I’ve heard two different stories about Delta price gouging–one says they did, the other says they did not. Whatever happened, I’m glad they stopped it.
glenn
CL – Hope people remember the difference between greedy corporate airlines and employee owned/managed ones.
AdLib21 minutes ago
CL ok… lol
Harleigh
glenn – they did do it per people needing to get OUT, but stopped when it was exposed and derided.
choicelady
Harleigh – that IS if you have POWER!!! That could be a problem, of course!
choicelady
So so we think Repubs may claim deficits won’t allow for full financing of rebuilding storm damage?
AdLib20 minutes ago
CL–Hopefully, the state of FL will go after them, because it is against FL law to price gouge during evacuations for a hurricane.
glenn
Gas was gouged here by $.60 per gallon and the false shortage.
Harleigh
Greedy computer models upped prices as seats diminished, but fixed now
pinkpantheroz
Ad -if we can raise the debt for war, we can raise it for safety!
choicelady
I think I may be off line….checking
MurphTheSurf3
CL – Harleigh’s got the power…don’t know how his electricity will fare.
AdLib20 minutes ago
You’re here, Murph!!!
choicelady
Well put point, cl
pinkpantheroz
Harleigh–not sure if your rise in gas prices is due to gouging, or the after effects of Harvey. Gas here has gone from $2.29 a gallon to $2.79.
glenn
Ad – LOL!!! Good distinction between power and electricity!!!
choicelady
CL –
AdLib18 minutes ago
Harleigh – CA has raised gas prices, and I don’t think we get gasoline from the Gulf. But hey – “any port in the storm”, yes?
choicelady
Harleigh – gas has done the same here.
MurphTheSurf3
glenn, harvey caused refineries to stop, so shortage anyway
pinkpantheroz
I do worry that the sticker shock of what all this year’s storms add up to might make Repubs prove their inhumanity and refuse to allow full funding for rebuilding. Or else, demand major cuts to social programs! And how can they deliver tax cuts with all these additional hundreds of billions to pay out?
AdLib17 minutes ago
Ad….the GOP count on the ignorance of their base and the lack of outrage from their opponents in all things.
MurphTheSurf3
CL – CA doesn’t get its gas from TX, we have our own refineries and all the gass supply we had before Harvey. It’s a scam, they raised prices because they had an excuse.
AdLib16 minutes ago
Ad – absolutely. Any excuse.
choicelady
Murph – And Repubs prey on the “others” mentality, they can pander everywhere else and say to Repubs in MO, “Why should you have too pay to rebuild million dollar homes in FL? Where people shoouldn’t be living anyway? It’s your money!”
AdLib14 minutes ago
Ad….and then they make sure those millionaires get their money anyway and the middle and lower class get zilch.
MurphTheSurf3
Earthquakes are horrible, I’ve seen my share out here in LA but what could be more horrible than knowing a disaster is coming days ahead of it THEN having it hit!
AdLib13 minutes ago
Ad…did you see the stories on how Trump likely submitted false Miro Lago claims in the last big storm to get a windfall.

Well I’m off folks. have a great weekend!

At least trump won’t profit from his place in St. Maartins. It’s GONE!

Ad – that as the thinking behind last year’s ballot prop that wanted ALL Californians to vote on LOCAL but state funded projects. Like Eureka will vote for rebuilding after quakes in LA. No. Not necessarily. But the idea that we can have ONLY what is local is sheer stupidity.

Ad–I think you are right about the repub mentality.

Harleigh – we love you, and we will worry, so please stay safe. Keep Ad informed if you can. Godspeed, dear friend. We are thinking of you.

Murph – Yes, was about to mention that! Trump basically admitted he committed insurance fraud! Guess what he’s prepared to do again no matter the damage to Mar-a-Lago?
AdLib12 minutes ago
Take care, Harleigh! Keep us informed on how you’re doing over the weekend!
AdLib11 minutes ago
PPO–Do you know for sure that trump’s place in St. Maartins is gone?
glenn
someone mentioned earlier that both his and Bransons place on Nekker had been destroyed
pinkpantheroz
glenn – the destruction of both Trump’s and Branson’s property is a news story that I believe is verified.
CL – Yes, that was a cynical bill, it was really intended to prevent substantial spending anywhere in CA. So glad it failed!
AdLib10 minutes ago
That was a charles Munger proposition. I have backed ONE of his – Kathay Fung liked it – but NOT THAT ONE.

What’s the betting he arranged for all valuables to be taken out, but will claim for them anyway?

I have a sister on the west coast of Florida, a brother in the middle of the state, and a nephew on the east coast. I’m hoping they all keep in touch over the weekend. All of them are staying put; the worst one is my brother, who is 74 years old, and lives in a mobile home. He’s a stubborn old cuss and I couldn’t talk him out of going even to a friend’s house to get out of the mobile.

PPO – I bet you’re correct!

Oh glenn – I am horrified your brother won’t go!!! This isn’t something you can tough out!!!

CL–while I hate to see anyone’s property damaged, I’m not too upset about trump’s and branson’s.
glenn

glenn, I hope your brother stays safe. That must be a huge worry for you.
Well, folks, great chatting, but gotta go. Stay safe, you and yours.

glenn – I’m worried about your family, especially your brother. Mobile homes are so vulnerable in this kind of storm.
AdLib7 minutes ago
Take care PPO!
AdLib7 minutes ago
CL–I know. Tried to talk him into going to a friend’s place, who at least has a house, but he won’t budge. I also forgot to mention my other sister who lives in the middle of the state, but she’s in a CBS house, so she’s good.
glenn

Ad – no, but she like the one about the 72-hour notice on all bills. I did, too. Sometimes even a blind pig (Munger) can find an acorn. Neither she nor I liked the OTHER proposition that made everyone vote on everyone ELSE’s needs. He can go suck eggs on that – we defeated it.
choicelady
PPO – you all stay safe down there – you’re moving into summer and fire season, too. We will hope the best for you all.
choicelady

glenn – I hope all of them get through this OK.
choicelady
PPO and Ad–Yeah, I’ll be trying to keep tabs on him over the weekend. He told me they’re expecting “only” 40-75 mph winds, and I told him that’s tropical storm strength and he should leave, but as I said, he’s a stubborn old coot.
glenn
CL – But both are about trying to undermine the passage of financing bills. He just got lucky that the 72 hours concept made sense.
AdLib5 minutes ago
glenn – in my whole life trying to budge “stubborn old coots” had proven pointless. I hope he gets through this OK!

What part of FL does your brother live in?

This has been most interesting and very much in keeping with our community here at the Planet. I was glad to be a part of it.

I’d not have supported the 72-hour prop were it not for Kathay’s great analysis. He got lucky – it actually is a good idea.
