Funk, can’t tell you how much I’ve appreciated this series and how it has really opened my mind up on the complexities and systems that are running invisibly to our society.

Of all the propositions, one of my favorites in communicating this to the public is rebranding the deficit clock, The National Savings Clock.

And the simple message needs to be nailed home that the government, as the creator of currency, has nothing in common with a business or citizen who is a user of money and transcends the concept of needing to live on a budget. It is that inverse relationship of what are called deficits with wealth that is very valuable to understand.

What is interesting is how the wealthy are exploiting this misunderstanding to slash spending by the government on the 99% to reduce this awful deficit…but fighting tooth and nail against any reduction of the subsidies they get paid…even though it would reduce this deficit they claim is an existential and urgent threat. Of course, the goal is to simply continue the transfer of wealth from the government but only to e wealthy. They know how all this works, they just want the spigot over the public to be repiped into their spigot and the plumbing they’re using is called “deficit reduction.

Remember Dick Cheney declaring that deficits don’t matter? He knows, the rest of the elite know, it’s just a cynical game they play in their class war. If they were to get their way economically then end up in power again, we’d hear very quickly that once again, deficits don’t matter.

Now…what national politician on the Dem side would have the guts to stand up and proclaim that our economic empire has no clothes?

Funk, I’ll have to read this three or four times to be able to comment. Once so far and more to come. Have to digest the info as I’m not as educated about these things as I should be.

Cheers.

Note every time the need for jobs comes up the deficit talk starts in earnest and the information challenged think they are going to steal their 300 dollar savings account to pay it back; propaganda is in control.
