Votes are bought in dozens of ways: media campaigns to inform and misinform, jobs/contracts, underwriting campaigns, the creation of ideal candidates, controlling access to the polls etc. So the 1 percent are dedicate to stealing every election- always have been but there are moments when this is just more transparent and we are just more aware. I hope we are living in such a moment.

Romney is the golden boy who seems like the perfect kid until you look close and realize that he cheats off the other kids, whines for attention, nags and tattles. The second big issue I ahve is that they are a corporate fraud trying to pass themselves off as Progressive and populist. AOL is a liberal progressive? The OWS and Trayvon protests are all peaceful and there is a confidence that peaceful protest can bring about change. But in light of the militia like tactics of police forces around the country and depending on if there are more incidents of violence related to racism against black people, they may become more oppressive against peaceful protest and we could see a situation like the 1970’s when violence in society became widespread…and I say this cautiously, we lost good and important people in this country back then…I worry a bit about Obama’s safety.

I forget where, but the gist of the story was kids were having a party and someone called the police. When the cops came the kids ran. One boy ran in a closed in porch of a house and the home owner came out and shot him dead. The state had a “Stand Your Ground” law and because the kid was on the property of the homeowner, the homeowner was not charged. The child looked like he may have been 15 or 16. So it’s going to be open season for sure on young black men with these laws.

I think it was brought out in the 2008 campaign that in some media markets where there are low numbers of black residents, white folks have not been exposed to the constant image of young black men in handcuffs.   • choicelady : Bourne – it’s pretty clear you’re young then. It’s a “toy” that was big in the 1950s. Hard to explain except you could, by twisting handles, draw pictures. So long as they had straight lines OR you were a genius in manual dexterity. You changed the picture by shaking the sand and wiping out the old. Just like Romney does with EVERYTHING.

  • AdLib : I just find it amusing how the MSM and Repub Elite are pushing so hard to crown Romney while showing their distaste for him and pushing Santorum to attack him harder.

  • AdLib : As for what’s been going on this week, it’s pretty remarkable how the Trayvon Martin murder has become such a national outrage. Meanwhile, Newt is whipping up more racial hatred against Obama, complaining that “the Muslims who are Obama’s friends” isn’t getting enough coverage.
