Music can take you away from your troubles and worries but sometimes it can take you away to an actual place. Today’s theme is music that’s about or from another place, maybe a specific city or country or a bar, maybe it’s World Music that transports you to another culture.

So keep your passport and frequent flier card handy, off we go to travel around the country and the world.

Allow me to begin in the US, working our way west to east then going around the globe:

I Love LA – Randy Newman

Texas Flood – Stevie Ray Vaughan

Sweet Home Chicago – Eric Clapton & Buddy Guy

Ohio – CSNY

New York, New York – Frank Sinatra

London Calling – The Clash

San Tropez – Pink Floyd

China Girl – David Bowie

And to complete the circle:

Going To California – Led Zeppelin

Your turn now, our bags are packed, take us away!

Nellie!

I’ve missed you and wish I could do the youtubes to listen.

We can’t do what we were thinking of doing for our Internet – sigh – but we do have very nice neighbors across the street that have done something to up their net – they buy cable or satellite – and they’ve told us that we can tap into their WIFI.

Somehow we just don’t feel right doing that, plus, I think we need something on our PC to do that.

My husband is really smart and a computer genius, so maybe we’ll figure it out eventually.

And holy cow, how does one say the name of the youtube you’ve posted?

That must win a prize for the longest title and using so many letters from the alphabet!

😆 javaz.

Awww re the computer and the internet. 😡 Is it worth investing in an iPad? I hear you can get internet wireless for $20 a month from AT&T.

If you get a chance to listen to this song, please do. It’s unbelievably beautiful and haunting.

Sue!

I am a huge fan of Paul Simon and of Simon and Garfunkel of course, and is that from “Rhythm of the Saints”?

I so love that album.

No, it is from Graceland. My grandson used to make me play their CD over and over when he was about 3. He loved their songs.
