By the way, Hoosiers, the movie is one of my favorites still. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:51 pm jdmn17 – you’re right, can ypu imagine what was going on behind the scenes, especially in the last 24 hours. I do hope we learn what really happened, it will be quite interesting to say the least. I hadn’t heard that about his Swiss bank account, that would seem to be a big part of the puzzle. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:44 pm ghsts, I take it you’re a hoosier then. Great comment, though I do disagree with the way Obama handled this, as bad as Mubarak was (and he was very bad) he still had been touted as an ally of ours for 30 years. To step up and condemn him would have been seen rather schizophrenic. Friend one day, enemy the next when in fact Mubarak had not done anything differently. Obama has many problems, not the least of which is extricating this country from relationships such as this with countless similar puppet regimes – for this has been the way America has conducted its foreign policy for at least 50 years. It’s a delicate balancing act and I think he walked that tight rope just right. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:31 pm thanks, and I asked to have my feeble attempts deleted, lol » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:20 pm patsyt – i love rfk jr, and listen to ‘ring of fire’ religiously, thank you. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:18 pm jdmn17 – well said buddy. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:08 pm ADONAI – it’s working here quite nicely. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 5:08 pm lynetema – welcome to the refugee camp! » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 4:57 pm right on girlsparky. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 4:49 pm Hi rosal, welcome, you’re going to love it here. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 4:47 pm Caru, you’re on fire. Nailed it again. Like you, I also believe Obama played this exactly right. He had to deal with the fact nobody knew how this would play out, whether the revolution would be quashed and the Mubarak dynasty remained to be dealt with, or the populist movement pushed Mubarak out and replaced the regime with what (we still don’t know the answer). But Obama’s words were carefully constructed and delivered to not seriously meddle in another country’s affairs – and now he can greet the new government with a clean slate – having said just enough right things about emerging democracies and the need for them to happen. What a refreshing change of foreign policy. Well played Mr. Obama, well played indeed. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 4:46 pm Friday Music Thread–Moving to The Planet Soon, Gonna Buy… And finally, in honor of all your ex-hp junkies making your Exodus for the promised land (aka The Planet) i give you:

I think that must beToots Thielman (sp) on harmonica. he did some to other greet soundtrack work for the movie “Cinderella Liberty” with James Caan and Marsha Mason. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 2:25 pm Coincidentally i made a little video (using footage from a dinky digital camera) about a road trip through eastern Oregon. The composer is Steve Reich, the music: Music for 18 musicians – which is a tone poem performed by the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble. If you like Tangerine Dream or Vangelis, you will like this piece. » Posted By zootliberal On February 11, 2011 @ 2:09 pm Killgore, Stranger Than Paradise.
