Did you see the clips of Mubarak in court- it was pretty shocking; but I imagine some of that was for effect. I did find it interesting they built a ‘cage’ especially for him. Can’t figure out if they are keeping him in- or someone out.

It has declined a bit- the market area has been downsized- and the Restaurant was closed for a period of time- when it reopened, the food seemed less authentic- (sorta reminded us of Indian cuisine- which we aren’t too fond of..)
We loved the food, and used to go about once a month to eat there- but we don’t go anymore.. only the mint tea and the desserts are as good as they were.
Perhaps it’s the ‘state of the world’, but EPCOT no longer has authentic residents working in each country- that takes most of the atmosphere away.
(The guy in the biergarten is likely to be from Idaho rather than Germany!!)

OK, your bribe vid was from ’99, but I thought the girl was really beautiful. (I Did spend some time looking for a pretty girl.) 😉
I’m sticking with the green answer. I think it’s a reference to nature.
When they were building Morocco at Disney World, We attended the ‘Dedication”- and I specifically remember one of the Moroccans explaining the reverence for nature, which is why the beautiful artwork avoids ‘images’ of nature.
The star and crescent has me confused. I was convinced it was Turkish- because of the Ottoman Empire, and it’s massive holdings.
I’ll work on it.

Turkey is still a bit iffy- although some years back, I did latch on to some Nice pieces of gold jewelry made in Turkey!
OK, so I really want to go to Iran- they have awesome history, then Egypt- I would have gone to Iraq.. but- not a Saddam fan.
Perhaps Jerusalem.. but the thought causes me to break out in chicken feathers!
I would like to see Dubai- but you’re right; it’s history is merely architecture- awesome architecture admittedly, but..
heat and sand are not my passion- unless it’s on Sanibel or Key West!!
I want a body of water between my sand and the sunset!

Egypt is unstable, Morocco is shaky, Jerusalem, as well. Afghanistan and Pakistan have lost their ‘appeal’..
UAE don’t like women.
Africa is always in turmoil.

The protests in Casablanca kinda erase the romantic mood of Humphrey Bogart and friends, now doesn’t it? I saw it once on late night TV when I was a teen- fell in love with the place..
Funny, after that, I always wanted to go to Morocco..

I know the bigger players, and Yemen, Syria, etc.. but when we get to Bahrain, Tunesia, Morocco and some of the smaller countries- and regions; I start fishing backward to see where I am.
If you could just identify the country- when you are doing regional/tribal coverage it would be very helpful.
As for good guys-bad guys… they pretty much give themselves away, eventually!
It’s the snakes that are hard to define. (Both country and people snakes.) 😉

Khirad, my suggestion: we are newborns in Arabic/ ME language and history.
I find myself having to go back to reference Leaders, and countries.
This is not a criticism! Just please remember- you have a Head start class here,
and you are light years ahead of us.
I’m not saying- dumb it down; that won’t teach us anything..
(I love that you publish the day in English/Arabic, that is Cool!)
I am just lost in tribes and countries- good guys and bad guys; no matter how I try to keep them straight.
I know all the main players- but if you could maybe just jog our memory when giving an update.. sometimes it’s just monumental- trying to cram all you know- past all I don’t!
Or maybe it’s because I try to start in the morning- instead of waiting till I’m awake!
You do an awesome job- (even when you try to fool me with religion- that isn’t!! 😉
