It’s so remote only special ops are fighting there right now. Martha Radditz who has worked in combat areas since Murrow was a pup(not really; but a long time!) has been there recently- said the troops fighting in that valley are the most experienced, and combat hardened on both sides. “The Tangi Valley runs along the border between Wardak and the neighboring Logar province, an area where security has worsened over the past two years, bringing the insurgency closer to the capital, Kabul. It is one of several inaccessible areas that have become havens for insurgents, according to operations and intelligence officers with the Fourth Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, which patrols the area.” » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 5:03 pm Khirad, checked my email- no map- you scoundrel! » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 4:53 pm Not a well structured place to defend- Is Mogadishu the primary city- It almost looks like the only urban area in Somalia? » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 4:09 pm Tonight- although the pullback of Al-Shabab was confirmed- they have releaed a statement that the pullback is temporary. » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 3:58 pm Tangi Valley, SAYYIDABAD DISTRICT, Afghanistan, hopefully will light up with burning Taliban forces. » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 3:43 pm Khirad, the vid link to Somalia is ‘denied’?? » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 9:28 am You could email me a map! π » Posted By jkkFL On August 7, 2011 @ 9:07 am OK Khirad- shot in the dark.. Khirad, know anything about it??
DO NOT move my coffee cup, my toothbrush, my hairbrush, everything is carefully arranged so I don’t miss a step!!
And if I miss my coffee- Evacuate!!
I do not function until 11AM- at the earliest, and God help the person who crosses that line…
I have an ex who can tell stories…! π
I don’t do morning- never did!!
Nobody wants to be around me in the AM!!! π
However you May be too kind- or your hubby is very lucky!
I would place his flask on the table- point out the position- indicate where the ice cubes are kept. and close with a dire threat that Nothing; save the True Rapture should awaken me before 9AM!! π
I fully expect them to drop into Iran’s lap any day-and that would be ghastly for the Syrian people.
Khirad, chime in too, if you want..
Someone please tell me I am wrong..
” is that they all desire more freedom, democracy and economic justice.”
NOT being snarky:
I would like some, as well.
Lord, yes- she is Stunning!!
Damn Khirad- you are sending me back to school!! π
But I didn’t know we were going back to a week after the dinosaurs left!! π
Can I still call it Egypt??
Apparently the Taliban ‘recently’ were ‘supplied’ with rocket propelled grenades and have become adept at their use.
hmmm… anyone smell Pakistan?????
“The mountainous region, with its steeply pitched hillsides and arid shale, traversed by small footpaths and byways, has long been an area that the Taliban have used to move between Logar and Wardak, local government officials said.”
H/T SL Trib
No map- no vids!!!
Without cheating outright π I stumbled on China…particularly ‘Hezhou- nicknamed ‘little Mecca of China.’
That’s my second guess!!!
My first guess is, and has been, Egypt- but I can’t trace the languages back as far as the history of adobe building.
Tonight David Muir and Valerie Amos talked about the famine; she is very pessimistic about the long term. 29,000 children have died in this famine- effectively deleting most of a generation..
US Special ops is concentrating on the Taliban in that area, in retaliation for the downing of the US helicopter.
And I wonder about the so called ‘good news’-
David Muir joined Lama Hasan in Somalia and Kenya for a little over a week; the doctors -and the few refugees who would talk, all claim the Al-Shabab is impounding the relief supplies, herding the refugees to the former Presidential palace and arbitrarily murdering some of them.
I wonder how much of this story is a concession to Al-Shabab’s demands?
Muir went to the presidential palace and reported seeing no food or water.. He also reported that 6,000 children, mostly under the age of five, had died last month alone- despite the UN’s World Food Programme’s effort to lend assistance.
Now do I have to go farther; ie: geographically?
Be nice now, you have had me to pick on for a few weeks…
That’ll teach me to skim an article.. π
OK- I think the most effective use of arms is Mo-Mo.. FWIW!
So they can eat- depending on what time??
Not too fond of this week’s question- guess I need to find some more vids!!
Iran just pisses me off! Not as much as Syria right now, but those two countries need a good housecleaning- call MerryMaids!
LOL see ya got sidetracked with the GIRLS again!!
Why can Muslims eat in the middle of the night when they’re fasting?
