Sorry, Em- but this shit has been going on for a long, long time..
In Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, within the US contractors..(and everywhere foreign aid is sent- I suspect.)
Karzai has been doling out barrels of cash to his faves for 10 yrs-right in our faces..
Sometimes I wonder if he keeps track of how much each has.. and then they ‘Conveniently’ find themselves assassinated; et voila- it’s all back in his mattress.

Geeze- you sure picked a project to re-enter the pet parent thing!!
My guess.. an older cat, (and you want an ‘animal’ cat- not a people cat…) a shelter cat living in a common area, with ties to other cats..but good with dogs; your shelter will hep you with this.
Definitely not another young animal!!
He is going to be a work in progress for a while.. 😉
The move is done- the work is just beginning!!

edit: an animal cat will still be sweet and loving, it will just be more in tune with the puppy.
