I thought the same thing, but Sam and his sister were separated at the shelter(someone adopted her)
Sam was so lonely- so I got another cat. He was fine- Persia wasn’t. So I would leave them out until they got scrappy- then Persia went to another room, and always there at night. (to reinforce it was Sam’s territory)
It took less than a week- and I will never have just one cat again.
I have two bowls for food- but they don’t need that now. They share a litter box.
They get crazy- chase each other thru the house, I just hop on the couch and put my feet up!
Two cats is just twice the fun, and the pecking order will be sorted quickly! Sam is 11- Persia is 5- and they both act 2! 🙂

Oh I loved them, but i don’t see Maggie and the neighbor cat becoming friends any time soon- especially with Maggie doin her little nana nana booboo act on the front porch!!!
