Cher, it’s a conspiracy of silence, if they call her out then one must suspect she will slam back at them. She’s no different than the queen of wasilla like that. As long as you are nice to her she won’t slap you down. We should all know that from what happened last week. She didn’t take too many prisoners of those who wrote in protest, and once people started posting this site they were dealt with swiftly. If she was Mubarak the revolution would have been over on Day 2 with blood in the streets.

Every time she goes on national exposure I cringe and deny I’m from MN. I have just enough of an ability to feign a Canadian accent I go Canadian until she slips off the front page.

When I came back from four years out east I heard one of my old antique collector friends was dying of AIDS. I went to an antique show and there he was, emaciated but still with a smile on his face. I walked up and gave him a long hug and I was just bawling (he died within a month). Afterward several other people came up and were horrified I’d “touched” him and told me I’d need to get tested. I was in the medical industry and just laughed at them. Afterward I had to wonder that with their attitude how many of them had bothered to hug him or touch his arm or was he treated like a pariah?? Sadly I suspect the latter.

On a snarky level, if we could do away with people via AIDS impregnated darts I might be tempted………

No, that would just be wrong.

All I can say is there are some amazingly idiotic beliefs out there

Kilgore, what is scary is that most of the people who want to return to 50-60 years ago think it was like Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver etc. I grew up then, it wasn’t all that great.

For those of you who wrote about enigma2 she wrote me back on HP. The post didn’t post but I got it off my message bar. She’s been here and saw familiar faces and indicated she was going to come back this weekend and check things out. My PPOV posts are still standing tall btw. I didn’t link so maybe I’m under the radar

I just checked my comments and there are three direct messages regarding PPOV still intact. If they want to come they can find us. Reading enigma’s statement, and those of two other posters who responded it’s clear they are sticking around at HP. Some folks are trying to see if the wind changes again. I wouldn’t hold out hope if my ten minute scan of articles is any indication it’s like People Magazine right now. Some of the stories are really trash.

They are neglecting to take into account that the highest walls possible won’t matter if the don’t have security and after seeing the tanks turn their cannons away from the protesters – well if I were super rich that one would have given me pause to consider I might not be as well protected as I thought. And you can’t send the help out for groceries or spend the rest of your life having services brought into the compound, at some point you have to go outside the walls. Their time will come

The one I laughed at was the reduction in border security. Guess that explains them wanting to pass the new laws requiring everyone own a gun in the home. That way the residents of the border states can just start shooting the brown folks and ask questions afterward. I remain astonished at the way in which congress is able to introduce bill after bill that has elements in it of what would become over oppression of the poor, and by default certain races,

Morning Zoot – I would not be the first person to remind AH how it was I got to HP. In the lead up to the historic election of 2008 I was compelled to find something other than the MSM after a certain red leather clad creature in stiletto heels and really bad glasses strode across the stage at MY Excel Center in St. Paul and started talking like she was from MN – except no one bothered to tell her that the dialect and accents from Fargo were the Coen Brothers subtle joke WITH the other natives not a put down of their home state. Regardless, there was this hooker dressed like a politician and as soon as I heard her speech compared to an earlier one of her I knew I had to find some news outlet that wasn’t sitting around slobbering over her or as has been suggested by Tracy Morgan – much worse. It took me about a week but then I read several places and saw several interviews with AH that pointed out HP THE progressive website.

So, my long winded story is to be put more simply

Do you know I haven’t given her much of any thought all week? Now I have to admit I had to join the boycott because I was a Sara watcher of a sort. I think we all were a little sucked in. But it’s been absolutely refreshing to focus on things other than here and the MN creature. Not to mention the other TP women AH tried to suck us back to like CoD, and PA to name two more.

And the boob stories, and Radar/TMZ links. I rely ended up on like four main tabs and only went elsewhere when something really interesting came by.

And what’s interesting is how the commenters are providing news and opinion from all over the net instead of waiting for it to be filtered and sensationalized or misrepresented.

Also note the absence of the wasilla comments and wondering.

And that the conversations are often lengthy and even – gasp – civil in informed, or at least believed by the writers.

No think globs of cheese, usually cheddar or Mozzarella, little nuggets of yellow or white gold, in a beer batter, deep friend. My kids used to eat them right from the bag. Great snack unless you care about little things like cholesterol.

Bito, there is no such thing as a great lutefisk recipe. You do know how they make it don’t you? The old way not the modern. I wish there was a shudder font.

The thing about MN is the whole Scandinavian story is a bit overstated. Prior to 1850 or 60 there were a handful of them, mostly French Canadian, German and Slavs (working the iron mines in northern MN). Of course there were the English and Irish and Italians. The big migration of Swedes started around 1860.

The Lutherans in MN are famous. It was hard growing up here, what with raging hormones and a mixture of Catholic and Lutheran girls who drove teen age boys to madness with their unapproachable allure.

Now Lefse once or twice a year is a great treat but it has a short shelf life. And obviously with the German and Swedes we do like our pastries.

Bito, Deep fried cheese curds are a MN State Fair tradition. Have them right after you finish your little bag of Tom Thumb Cinnamon donuts and before the baked corn or deep fried banana in chocolate. We are very close to WI so we do share some of the same vices. We just don’t wear those cheese hats, at least without ear muffs

Ad, I’m more than glad. I felt like I was being sucked into a downward spiraling vortex of ugliness over there. Things there just really went out of control really fast. I know he wasn’t much of a popular dude over on HP but when the banned Penner I just lost it, then the whole Sunday night moderation just clamped everything down and Monday. OMG, Monday the flurry of departures became a stampede. I was early to find this place and it’s taken a couple of days to decompress but I really, really love this place. There are such good people here and add in all the new refugees I think you guys must be overwhelmed at times. We are like lost children, I don’t think I knew how battered I felt until I got here and felt the freedom and glee at being able to write and not worry about word counts, code words, and the like and then waiting to get modded or even more lately, attacked with the mods seemingly let them attack you. I know it got me more edgy and it’s been gratifying to see a couple of conservative minded folks here posting here and we don’t agree but everyone is civil. It’s kind of like coming out of a war zone and finding peace. Great place. Really you guys are going at it right.

She should be fine. I noted above I’ve seen over 400 done and only one had a ruptured gall bladder. That was someone who came in acute. Even then, they simply pulled the lap instruments and opened the patient up. Then they cut out the gall bladder, pluck the gall stones and suction up the gall bladder fluid from the body cavity. About thirty extra OR minutes. And you usually spend the night because of the incision. But like I said, it’s rare as can be.
