The MSM tried portraying violence at the signing of the bill, when in reality, it was 2 people, yep, you read that right – the anti-bill people were 2 miscreants that made it seem violent news wise, and one person was arrested. When you consider the number of people down there, and only one was arrested, that’s an amazing figure. And you would not believe the actual number of supporters – they led us all to believe it was a hundred or so, but it was maybe 25 to 30 people in support and they taunted the anti-bill people. Law enforcement is not happy at all with our relaxed gun laws. It’s the GOP and NRA and even Obama that have relaxed gun laws and restrictions. Pretty much anyone can buy a gun in Arizona because there are no background checks, no permits required to buy and carry concealed. Yet they miss the parts of the law that says that the police can take their guns while they are checking on them for whatever infraction. It’s not the left that’s going to take their guns – it’s the right – and the new immigration law in AZ gives the police even more power and they will confiscate their guns. It’s the law. My husband is slightly older than I, and he protested the Vietnam War, but I was too young, and well, I am not too young now. I researched the local churches in my area that are against SB1070, and I chose to research churches to fight fire with fire. I was disappointed that the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix has not come out against, and not surprised that not one LDS or Mormon Church is against it. But there are lots of Christian Churches and even Catholic Churches and synagogues against the bill – but not our local Catholic Church, so I have joined the Christian Community Church in my area – I did not actually join that church, but have joined the movement. I’ve been busy emailing people and this thing is big. I know the Reverend Al Sharpton is a controversial person, but honest to goodness, both my husband and I love Reverend Sharpton from our time in Europe, and that’s a long story that I won’t go into, but we love Reverend Sharpton. The churches here and other groups are trying to get him to come here for a Freedom March, and I think we might, and then my husband and I will join him in that march through Phoenix and we’re hoping for a million strong. The racist bigots in this state believe that people who are not from our state should not be interfering, but the last time I looked, this is the United States of America, and if people who are against civil rights abuse or for gun rights or for the Tea Party wish to travel anywhere in these United States of America that that is their right to do so under the constitution. Funny how they use religion and the constitution when it suits their needs, and then cast it aside when it comes to an opposing viewpoint. We will not let this racist law stand, and it’s empowering to actually get up off my butt and get active in my community, for the first time in my life. I said that I thought Obama is very handsome and especially when he smiles, and our friend said that he envisions him naked, and I had to laugh, and then I had to listen to his fantasies, and let me tell you, it was hilarious on both our parts. The second story, was after the hike we stopped in a CVS store so Dick could buy beer, and when we walked in, there was just the cutest young man, grandson material for all of us, and he shouted out a hello and asked us how we were doing. Andrew Thomas has resigned to run for AG of the state, and he is also under the grand jury investigation for abuse of power. But here’s where my husband might be right about the tipping point. The county officials have appointed Mitt Romley to replace Andrew Thomas, and Mitt has never been a fan of Sheriff Joe’s and he’s already cracking down on all that and it’s a wonderful thing to see. Amazingly, Romley is a Republican, but he’s not running for any office and even he came out against this immigration bill. He’s only filling in until the next election this November, but he’s really stirring things up, so there is hope. Plus, the majority of people protesting are young people, you can bet that they will register and vote and they will not vote Republican and to make it better, the GOP in this state has now officially lost the Hispanic voters. My husband and I are white and even we realize the odds of law enforcement stopping us and demanding we prove our citizenship or that we are here legally. The vice-mayor of Phoenix has stated that since this bill is not supposed to be legalized racial profiling that every single person that drives through Phoenix better have their papers in order because the only way that the bill is not legalizing racial profiling is to demand papers of white people, too. And we fully agree with him on that and support him. Our good conservative friend Dick was all for this bill, but on our hike yesterday, we pointed out all the Mexican Americans that we worked with, and there were many, and how now they are targets. Dick thought a driver’s license was proof enough, but it is not and neither is a social security card. People must carry green cards, birth certificates or passports, and we reminded Dick of his grandson who is black but as he is getting older, he is starting to look more Hispanic. Aaron is a beautiful little boy of color, and we reminded him that his beloved grandson will fall under the racial profiling of this law, and to make it worse, Aaron’s parents are lesbians and no one needs to explain that to even Dick. The protesters are simply amazing to me in the massive numbers and as she was signing the bill, they began chanting “Shame on you” while the counter-protesters, which is very small in comparison, applauded and jeered. I do believe that California passed a similar piece of legislation years ago, and after spending millions of dollars a Federal court overturned that bill as unconstitutional on the basis that Federal law usurps state law. The local news just did an aerial view of the capitol and there are thousands of protesters against the bill and hundreds of police. It warms my heart to see so many younger people – college and high school kids that have walked out of schools to march on the capitol in protest of the bill along with adults of every color. I just hope when Governor Brewer announces her decision – and I will be shocked beyond measure if she says she will veto the bill – but I hope and pray if she announces that she will sign it into law that the protesters stay safe. Too many guns and so much anger on the opposing side is a frightening mix. I’m struggling with a medical problem, and won’t go into any details, but this sucks. You really do need to be one step ahead of them, and even when you are, they don’t believe you, and make you go in for unnecessary tests, and I think it’s because it’s Ka-Ching – meaning more money for them. Whatever happened to doctors listening to the patient, as I know my body better than anyone else, and blah, blah, blah. They’ve put me through all this crap before, whereby if they only listened, it would be so very simple to solve. They upped our insurance 35% last year, and we’re facing another increase by the same amount in January. They increase us every single year, yet our care is less in that if you have a problem, and you as a patient know what it is they put you through so many tests, that our insurance does not cover. I know that we’re lucky in that they are not canceling us for a pre-existing condition, but they are pricing us out of control and it’s starting to hurt us financially. You do know that the Pharma is telling doctors to push hormones for women in menopause and pre-menopause? That is what my doctor is pushing for me, and I’ve never done them and never will, but goddammit, my new doctor from CIGNA is actually yelling at me to take them cancer causing drugs, and I am staying strong and refusing. I’ve been through menopause since 2003 and the hot flashes are history, and I know what I need medication wise, but they are trying to put me through all the tests again, that we have to pay for, and I am refusing. God, I am so angry about this crap, and hell yeah, I was depressed, but no longer. I am going to fight this goddamn bullshit, and go out of network, and then they get to cancel me, but what the hell choice do I have? She couldn’t get it in my right hand, and then asked me where they draw blood, and I raised my arm and pointed, and she said, YES, I can see the vein, and she stuck me, and then instantly extracted it, and then went back to working on my right hand. Now, when it comes to pain, it was nothing, as I actually have a high tolerance for pain, but man, that was the worst of the entire thing for me. Once she got the IV into my hand and they started the sedative, I was out like a light. I let my arm heal as long as I could, because I knew that they had to draw blood again, and then when I went in, I asked them to use my left arm, but NO. I cannot blame the RN from the procedure as I was so horribly dehydrated, and they have a hard time finding a vein normally anyway. When the person did it the last time though, she said to me, “Oh, your vein is like a wet noodle and the RN that attempted that for the procedure went through the vein” yet she refused to use my left arm. So, you are saying that it has to do with being right handed or left handed.
