Went to Habitat for Humanity despite my phobia of religion. After listing to introduction by director, we were asked to each tell them something about ourselves so they might gague how we fit in. Jared Polis of CO gave quite a good defense of the EMR program and pointed out it’s biggest failure was the lack of participation by banks, dragging their feet for obvious reasons. Not ONE mortage that had been refinanced had gone into default, the program has failed to spend a single dime outside of administrative costs but still was lambasted as wasteful spending. Never mind that FHA loans that continue to go into default will cost this country millions if not billions. The House vote came down as expected pretty much on party lines with 9 Dems breaking to approve the resolution to cut the program. The vote wasn’t that close so, excuse me for being cynical, the dems who can register yes votes for spending cuts get to play both sides for chumps. This imo is the failure of politics, cause for American disdain and apathy.
