No, you misunderstood me. Everyone should be able to say what they wish. Their right to say it shouldn’t be curtailed. However, especially odious speech SHOULD be met with resistance and exposure and ridicule. I am comfortable with that. The Klan is more than welcome to hold a parade in my town. I am also more than welcome to march with them shouting in my bullhorn.

Cher, I couldn’t agree more. Unlimited tolerance for those that have unlimited INtolerance is a steep slope to social decline. While they may have the right to be odious, puss-oozing, excrement flinging creatures, they should face consequences for being such.

Say what you will. But be prepared for public ricdicule, interruption of your business, counter-protests and continual lawsuits. Behavior like this needs be squashed within the limits of the infringment of the First Amendment.

The life of a man in Wisconsin:

1) Get a great job at an up and coming tech firm who relocates to Wiconsin for their highly educated workforce and new tax incentives­.

2) Due to easy credit gets a barely affordable home of his dreams and move in

3) Again due to easy credit gets credit cards to finance the furnishing of said home.

4) Credit card companies move to S. Dakota and Delaware so they can charge unlimited % on their card holders

5) Credit card companies lobby Congress to make personal bankruptcy harder to do. Congress hurts back bending over to do their bidding.

6) The bank that gave the man his mortgage has now sold that mortgage to someone else.

7) The man’s employer relocates his division to India.

8- Unemployed for a time, the man finds a job making half of what he made before.

9) Behind on his credit card payments and house payment, the man still has hope.

10) Toxic investment­­­s destroy economy, the man’s bank goes under. Wisconsin’­s dergegulat­­ed housing boom now busts, cutting his property value by 70%.

11) Man’s employer lays him off.

12) Bigger bank that man’s taxes helped bail out now owns the tax collection company that hounds him for back property taxes.

13) Man votes for Scott Walker Nov. 2nd to get government off his back.

Watching the mouth-breathers in DC cut social programs and ponder the fate of SS while we have an estimated 3 trillion dollars in uncollected corporate taxes between 2000 and 2009 is fucking bad joke.

They HAD to have had their shame gland removed to run for office, its the only thing I can think of.

UK Uncut mounts direct action against 50 branches as Barclays admits it paid 1% corporation tax in 2009

More than 50 branches of Barclays bank across the UK have been targeted by activists protesting against tax avoidance.

Photograph: Carl Court/AFP/Getty Images The direct action by UK Uncut, taking place in more than 30 towns and cities including London, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, came as Barclays was forced to admit it paid just £113m in UK corporation tax in 2009 – a year when it rang up a record £11.6bn of profits.

A UK Uncut spokesman said: “We are hoping to very peacefully and legally send a big message to Barclays that paying 1% corporation tax is not really acceptable.”

There are around 10 different protests underway in central London with protesters staging a live stand-up comedy show, a breakfast club for children and setting up a library.

IMHO.

My Mom used to post comments on HuffPOST, in its early years.
But after a few years, she just stopped.

I read up on_Huffpos­t on another site, with _Planet_an­d_POV_ in the name,
before I decided to join_Huffp­ost.

It almost seems like_Huffp­ost is deliberate­ly trying to drive all the long term members
of the Huffpost community away, with all this heavy_mode­ration_, and the high
numbers of conservati­ve_trolls_­that are allowed to post their_ange­r,_lies and_hate here.

Just my initial opinion, based on my observatio­ns….

@Truth. Good idea. Two things:

1) I’ll need some more time. Work is brutal right now.

2) I want to do some additional research on this topic. Specific companies, economic impact etc. I think and learn very visually and I just don’t have the right snapshot in my brain yet.

Fantastic article in the Nation this week. “The UK’s Left-Wing Tea Party”.

Started by 12 ordinary citizens in response to the biggest cuts to social spending since the ’20′s, people in this group realized that some of the wealthiest corporations and richest individuals were dodging their taxes to the tune of tens of billions.

Their first target? Vodafone, which owed back taxes of 6 billion pounds, enough to single-handedly make up the 7 billion in housing subsidy cuts proposed by the Cameron government.

What they did next was equal parts genius, balls, and determination. Three qualities that we could always use a bit more of.

“This movement is shaped like a beehive, or like Twitter itself. There is no center, no leadership. Just a shared determination not to be bilked.” (I love that last sentence )
