Time Out for O/T – Vol. 18

There IS a group of white men who are losing. They are the blue collar, poorly educated white guys. And the president has NOTHING to do with their oppression – it comes from other white guys, the corporate CEOs.

To believe differently is to fall for the Southern Planter strategy – they will make you feel superior for simply BEING white while exploiting the hell out of you and pitting you against your true equals, the Black guy with little education and no job. You will still be landless, a sharecropper, in massive debt – but wow. You will be white!

It got poor white men nothing in the 1870s. It will get them nowhere today. Falling for racial animus instead of class cohesion is the dumbest thing one can do. White people ARE oppressed – by other white people. We all are. By those same white people.

But turning that into fear of Black people? Truly stupid because it diverts your attention from the real oppressors – those same white “planter class” CEOs who thrive while we bash one another.

Let’ NOT let history repeat itself?

Employees are just fungible commodities NOT part of your base of wealth creation. When we allowed “market forces” to trump human worth, we unleashed this sort of calculus about who is and who is not important.

Every one of them. An all-the-hats you-can-eat buffet.

That’s hilarious! Low info voters OK.

Where was King Tut? I saw it ages ago at the Field Museum in Chicago, long before it hit the Met and set off a craze. I’m glad you had the chance – it is quite amazing!

LOL!!! I do think we have to wait until 2014 when Obamacare kicks in. Companies with fewer than 50 employees don’t have to provide it, and frankly if you have MORE you damned well BETTER provide it! You CAN subsidize individuals and families in the Exchange rather than buy it outright – it’s WAAAAAY cheaper. But you had better DO it.

You know – not everyone is cut out to be in business. If you can’t run a business without exploiting your employees, maybe you ought to move over and let someone else run it? Like the employees?

Just saying.

Murph, dear friend – I am LETTING YOU DOWN! I’ve been dragooned into CA politics and can’t call for Claire. I’m sorry in no small part because, having family ties in Gentry County, I was kind of looking forward to it.

I hope she pulls it off. I like her fine. I like YOU even more, and I’m very admiring of the “Murph-McCaskill Women’s Refuge” you’ve put together for all those lost Missouri women looking for a non-RWNJ home. THAT is worth ANYTHING, and bravo for being so kind that they could be comfortable there!

I’m sorry to bug out – things here are squeakers, so I’m trying to do what I can for the tax increase we need, the tax increase we DON’T want, the tax measure that will actually build 40,000 new jobs, and ending the death penalty. Then we have to stop the corporate predators who want to eviscerate unions. You know – a few small issues…

And all that, I fear, has taken precedence over anything else.

I hope to talk with you on the live feed tomorrow. We are in for a hell of a ride tomorrow I think. Stay safe and best wishes to you on a successful outcomes!

Your friend – choicelady.

Had trouble accessing articles ON his site, but thank you for the site.

The Forbes piece (by a Romney advisor) is full of crap. Rates across the nation already are coming down, and the “elimination” of Advantage is of the middle man waste. You can still get the plans and save the national debt a bundle. Medicare folks – your Plan B premium just went from $115 per month to $99. So how are you being HURT by the $716 billion cut? Why would the GOP want to restore waste, fraud, and abuse spending?

Lies and the lying liars who tell them. The GOP just make it up and then keep saying it.

I’m with you, Nirek.

Never could wrap my mind around the contradiction between Trickle DOWN and “a rising tide lifts all boats”. Tides lift from BELOW, not from above. And what trickles down is just drool.

» Posted By choicelady On November 2, 2012 @ 7:56 am

Well gosh, bito – why didn’t you do that MONDAY??? Then everything would’ve been OK.

Sheesh.

» Posted By choicelady On November 1, 2012 @ 8:09 pm

Awwww. Ask me if I care.

Are idiots born or are they made?

Never have been sure.

I heard from my sources in Ytown that I-90 is under water! Yikes! Do stay safe, kes! Erie is shallow and can kick up quite a rumpus given the right circumstances.

» Posted By choicelady On October 30, 2012 @ 3:21 pm

Of course . The fact it hit New Jersey the hardest is neither here nor there. No use pulling out facts with these goobers – they believe every little thing that suits them and pay attention to NOTHING anyone else says. Especially rational things.

Eeeuuuuwwww Sally. TMI!!!

» Posted By choicelady On October 28, 2012 @ 9:30 pm

I really did find that difficult to view. Felt voyeuristic no matter what. Eeeuuuuwww.

I have a theological question though. If Mitt loses, does it invalidate Magic Underwear’s superpowers?

Oh lordy I hope so.

» Posted By choicelady On October 28, 2012 @ 8:23 pm

Oh that’s GOOD, Sally. REALLY.

» Posted By choicelady On October 28, 2012 @ 8:21 pm

Hi Sally – I think I have gotten those, too, though I admit I don’t keep count. Some I get on my home email, some at work – and try as hard as I will, I CANNOT get rid of the work ones which is a problem since my organization is non-partisan. I’m not. They have to be. Each one links you to a separate fund raising machine, which is why they are taking NO notice of your relative poverty! It’s not a bad fund raising technique (I can be guilt tripped as well as anyone else) but it IS annoying when you’ve donated and the OTHER sites act as if you’re a “petty cheap-o bastard” as one friend’s ex called him.

My advice? That is what God and computer makers invented the “DELETE” button for. YOU know what you can do and have done. We who love you are secure in your righteousness. After next week, the fundraisers will not even remember your name. Since you never EVER have to see these people again – never mind.

Love and hugs for all you do!

Hooo boy – she has some anger management issues, yes?

» Posted By choicelady On October 27, 2012 @ 5:14 pm

How does she get a write off when it’s not a business but a HOBBY? That’s NOT allowed, and that’s how the rich manipulate the system!

» Posted By choicelady On October 27, 2012 @ 5:13 pm

And perhaps the insight into the REAL reason undecideds remain so – all the slavering attention they get from both candidates!

Were we a nation of values instead of power, both parties ought to have a cutoff date and say – OK sucker, if you haven’t figured it out by NOW, we’re outta here!

But the GOP would never give up – they’d be slippin’ the undecideds money and booze to vote for their guy.

GOP Motto: Ethics? Moi?

» Posted By choicelady On October 27, 2012 @ 5:06 pm

Loved it then, love it even more now! She rocks, and this is a GREAT statement!

» Posted By choicelady On October 27, 2012 @ 5:04 pm

Oh of course not! I’m thinking cold, barren rock, windswept, subject to major gales, very little plant and animal life for them. Tropical lushness? NO WAY!!!

» Posted By choicelady On October 25, 2012 @ 2:33 pm

I do believe this MAY be a violation of our Logan Act and probably a boatload of British laws. I REALLY think it’s time to prosecute such actions. To hell who they are!

» Posted By choicelady On October 25, 2012 @ 2:15 pm

Uh-uh-uhhh – typical liberal socialization. Don’t flee to a deserted island. SEND THEM!!!

» Posted By choicelady On October 25, 2012 @ 2:13 pm

Please tell them that we share their concern, respect their views, and welcome them in. It is clear that even pro-life, conservative women no longer matter to too many GOP males. We are sorry they have no home in the party of Lincoln any more. We once upon a time could differ and share our lives anyway – standing for one another in good times and bad – but this has driven a wedge between some really strident and extremist men and all women who have been disrespected. We are sorry it’s happening, and we welcome them to work with us for however long they want to be present.

I followed a Twitter thread to another YouTube video (only 7 minutes long) that to me was entirely incomprehensible. I have NO idea what it was “proving” – but the disgusting screed underneath is screeching that Trump will assert that not only did the Obamas file for divorce but it was over gay affairs Obama had.

I honestly don’t think this will fly with anyone save those who already hate Obama, but I’m getting feedback from the party that these sorts of vicious personal attacks are ALL that is coming out of the GOP these last two weeks.

I wonder what it will do to those who are bombarded with it all? Are we that gullible? Years ago the infamous attack on Claude Pepper included assertions his sister was a “well known thespian” while Pepper was a practicing “homo sapiens” who “masticated daily” and “matriculated in college”. People totally believed it was something dirty about Pepper.

I would HOPE undecideds aren’t that stupid. But I never forget what P.T. Barnum said about you’ll never grow broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

America. Brave New World.

And they did not, did they. Can Newt remotely say the same? EVERY marriage goes through rough times.

Someone once asked Ruth Graham, Billy Graham’s wife, if she’d ever thought about divorce. She said, “Divorce? No. Murder, yes, but not divorce.”

I think that’s incredibly human and funny. EVERYONE has tough times!

I’m SO admiring of the Obamas for sticking together over these years and having come together so well. That they thought of divorce is not a secret. And that they did NOT is the joy of seeing what happy people look like in America.

Well the mainline Protestants long ago figured out they were heading down cult trails and gave it up.

While it’s said we all resemble Unitarians, it’s not quite true – but we DO all embrace free will, free thought, and careful consideration of what promotes kindness and justice and what does not. On those points we are merging – and that really is a positive.

It’s the RIGHT that embraces moral relativism – “if it’s MY relative, it doesn’t count! If it’s ME it for SURE doesn’t count!”

From Wide Stance to we didn’t sleep together to Rent Boys, it’s all about YOU, honey, and never about ME. And those offshore accounts? Why I have nothing whatever to do with them…
