This is hilarious. Here’s a recap of how Murphy from the Buffalo Beast got through (as Koch) to Walker’s office:

“I politely said hello, not knowing how friendly Gilkes and Koch may be. He was eager to help. “I was really hoping to talk directly to Scott,” I said. He said that could be arranged and that I should just leave my number. I explained to Gilkes, “My goddamn maid, Maria, put my phone in the washer. I’d have her deported, but she works for next to nothing.” Gilkes found this amusing. “I’m calling from the VOID–with the VOID, or whatever it’s called. You know, the Snype!”
“Gotcha,” Gilkes said. “Let me check the schedule here…OK, there’s an opening at 2 o’clock Central Standard Time. Just call this same number and we’ll put you through.”

Abby, it’s scary. In our industry, the corporations have jacked down wages, eliminated jobs, eliminated benefits, put survivors in jobs that previously paid $50–$100k now making $10 an hour. And if you don’t like it,suck it. There are 10 less qualified, less talented people in line to take your job, because it’s fun/glamorous/high profile.

Just yesterday, six vital positions were eliminated. The psychology of the survivors is most interesting.

I am ready to take to the streets, but I’d be going with a bunch of unemployed people. What are we worth? Not very fucking much.

Arghhhh, abby. When I plug our numbers into your equation, we may as well pitch a tent somewhere. On one income, we lived very well in the early nineties. We now live with half those same wages and both of us working our asses off. No nest egg left. This isn’t pretty.
