And people who tell others not to vote, because the progress was to slow, are not interested in advancing progressive policies imo. Much the opposite!

And sure, you’re right: not ALL conservatives are fear driven – yet it is a strong tendency amongst this group. Moreover I assume the “rugged individualist” thing may be a main reason to become conservative in the first place.
