“Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, said she hopes the candidates will take up the region’s heating aid crunch because it underscores how badly the country needs a comprehensive energy policy.”

WTF did they send her to the Senate for? Why doesn’t she take it up?

This f$#%^g disgusts me. You know what? Screw that, this fucking disgusts me.

WASHINGTON – Mary Power is 92 and worried about surviving another frigid New England winter because deep cuts in federal home heating assistance benefits mean she probably can’t afford enough heating oil to stay warm.

She lives in a drafty trailer in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood and gets by on $11,148 a year in pension and Social Security benefits. Her heating aid help this year will drop from $1,035 to $685. With rising heating oil prices, it probably will cost her more than $3,000 for enough oil to keep warm unless she turns her thermostat down to 60 degrees, as she plans.

“I will just have to crawl into bed with the covers over me and stay there,” said Power, a widow who worked as a cashier and waitress until she was 80. “I will do what I have to do.”

Thousands of poor people across the Northeast are bracing for a difficult winter with substantially less home heating aid coming from the federal government………..more

This is just plain fear and if you have ever seen this show, plain stupid. I have watched a few episodes and found nothing sinister and I am pretty good at reading between the lines. I look at it more as a method of understanding their culture better and being entertained. I wonder if the boycotts of Lowes and BofA(double whammy for them) will begin in 3….2….1……

Buddy Roemer, some reflections on his pursuit for the White House. If only all candidates had to run campaigns like this, they might be more honest given the short amount of time they have access to the media. These shots made me feel like he was closer to the 99% than any candidate in the race. I admit I don’t know that much about him, just ruminating.

Hey Auntie

Great to see you. Aren’t they just pathetic? I had never seen that O’Toole movie, I will have to try to find it. I am following a person on Twitter who uses that pic as his/her avatar. Good to see you here, hope all is well with you. I love your choice of names when I was on HP I used that spelling to refer to the real thing, getting it from you.

I think Udall wants details laid out, not generalisations. The way it reads a president who has no morals, Bush for instance, could read that anyway they want. Hell anyone can read it anyway they like and could with more detail as well. Look how many variations of the Bible people have come up with.

It was pretty clear his staff disagreed with this spot so if you disagree and want to keep your job, what do you do? you put him in a bad light and then swear you had no idea, after all as a staff member of his, you feel the same way about gays(when you are on the job lol)

They are like the kid on the playground who if you did not want to do what they said would tell you, “Then I am not going to be your friend anymore”. The same kid you bitch slapped when the teacher or yard duty lady was not looking.

This is Perry’s Texas, can you imagine Perry’s America?

» Posted By SueInCa On December 9, 2011 @ 3:08 pm

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the people filming the ad or his top staffers who were against the ad, had him wear that jacket on purpose?

» Posted By SueInCa On December 9, 2011 @ 2:58 pm

This may be where Perry got the idea to come out with his Gay ad, here is an excerpt…..

“We’ve fallen into the spiral of silence in which case the people who might be a tiny minority but are controlling the conversation intimidate the rest of us…. Now where have we seen that happen most vividly? We’ve seen it in the gay rights movement. The gay rights movement is a tiny minority in America, so what you get is a passionate movement of 10 percent of the people, 5 percent of the people maybe in the gay movement, maybe 4 percent, 3 percent, and they control what the rest of us think because the rest of us are intimidated into silence. Folks, brothers and sisters, I tell you I believe in the depths of my being that the most important thing we can do today in obedience to Christ is to break the spiral of silence, to speak out, to point out unrighteousness.”

You should give Steve Perry a break, he shouldn’t have to be concerned with all those details.

You can be angry about it, I just don’t see the big threat some people do. What I see is Alex Jones with his conspiracy theories sounding off about it before the final bill was even complete. If the bill had been written in the manner you seem to want, what you would have is another 800 page bill that everyone makes fun of, yes, that is a bit of an exaggeration but don’t you think many bills are written in this way?

» Posted By SueInCa On December 8, 2011 @ 3:52 pm

Adonai

Don’t be so condescending. I am fully aware of what could be done. It all comes down to due process and a violation of your 6th amendment rights. I dont know how much more specific they can be than
1031 and 1032, do you want height weight and age too?

People are up in arms about this but hardly a whisper on the Military Commissions Act of 2006 which gave immunity to Bush and Cheney for war crimes from US Prosecution
