CL works with a guy, Mikey Weinstein, who runs the MRFF Military Religious Freedom Foundation and he has been fighting this proselytizing for years. At the 40,000 ft level you may be right the problem comes in when they get down to the 10,000 foot level. I will never forget the hysteria they were able to generate over 9/11 and the unconstitutional Patriot Act they were able to pass within a month. No one can tell me that bill was not waiting in the wings, especially knowing the PNAC existed and were in high government positions. I remember being confused at all the hysteria against Iraq and even asked my cousin who was in the military at the time how Iraq fit the war scenario. He told me everyone knows that Iraq was really behind it and just because we could not find WMD’s did not mean they were not hiding them very cleverly. He was a Captain in the navy, educated at Syracuse University and graduated top of his class yet he believed it all. I was just flabbergasted. So, yes I do believe it can happen here. When terror is written onto the psyche of the public they will make decisions that they normally would not. They will also, at times, regret those decisions when it is too late.
