I will support the national legislation for sure and will support one at the state level. The first argument we are going to hear is chasing corporations out of the state with unnecessary restrictions, you know the self regulation batshitcrazy cry detractors always use? We would need a platform that addresses the objections.

I hate these creeps as much as anyone else but does anyone know how we even start something like this? I am sure it has to be written in legalese and does someone have to lobby the CA legislator to push it? What does it cost to sponsor ballot iniatives for vote? Choice Lady may have some insight in to it…….if it can be done, I am more than willing to do whatever I can to back it.

WTS, IMHO he is a bit caustic for my taste but in the past he did post alot of good info that was pertinent to Obama’s performance. In my opinion, Rich Misty was a much better poster with his informative list of info, kind of like Cher over here. He was driven away by the trolls because he just could not get through.

They are still out there but I think they are having a difficult time trying to decide how to approach the political issues. They seem to want to hide behind the blogging thing rather than get active. I just responded to a survey they sent out.

I agree Cher. I had a direct email to Katie over there and had sent her some emails but after awhile I felt like she was being patronizing since I never saw any changes. They should have listened back then. It does not take long for the gossip train to roll down the tracks.

I never thought of that one Pepe. About the time I figured out they were fanning me is when I started coming over here so it was pretty much a mis-nomer at that point. While I did not close my account for a few months, I rarely went back.

Actually that is what finally drove me away, the abnoxious flavor of the site and posters. I was included in one or two of those cliques, but the constant patting each other on the back grew weary. I went there originally to carry on some serious conversations and get a feel for others ideas and thoughts, not who was the most popular. Like the President said, it is time to put away childish things.

Adlib, like that character detector, pretty good. I agree on the fanning. At puffho I had well over 300 fans but some of the people who fanned me, were the trolls themselves and I really don’t think I gave them any reason to do so. It was puzzling to me. In addition, a drive by poster can fan anyone they want and then leave without making any comments or contributing to the conversation in any substantive way. Some people over there who had many fans were the biggest trouble makers as well, with cliques forming that caused further problems. I don’t go to a site to click on you tube links every night, however when there is a proper time and place I will contribute. I know that was initially a tactic to counteract the trolls, but it would have been much more effective to control your response to them or answer with “just the facts, ma’m”

The idea of putting one’s real name on the internet is not realistic. Since the early 80’s there has been identity theft going on in the face to face world. How much easier would it be on the internet?

Personally I think especially in Hairyanna’s case she is too tight to put any real effort into moderation. And the managing of proprietary information would be a nightmare. They need more sites like this one who are careful about the posting content, not identity information that could result in a financial disaster for anyone who chose to participate.

He wrote, “Sorry team. I am not sure what’s in the water at Neuberger Berman. I’m embarrassed and I apologize.”

It sounds like another part of the deal. The original loan was ostensibly to sell the business. The commercial real estate piece you are referring to must be a special added bonus for all of us to eat if the government steps in. The only deal I read about, specific to real estate, was Mervyns. If these companies were taking equity out of the buildings they owned, then the problem may be much bigger than I wrote about or it could be another crisis coming down the pipe……whoa until all of us. Your explanation from Elizabeth Warren makes it sound much worse than just the buy out plans.

I contacted my financial advisor yesterday to insure we are not vested in any stocks representing this activity. Generally he told me he never will advise individual investors toward these picks.

There is so much wrong with Wall Street and our “free market” system. In reality it is a free system, at least to the movers and shakers who are making their money.

What really gets me is that none seem to have any conscience. It is like they are out to make the money and screw the rest. But you are right. Part of my reasoning for covering this is to get people angry. Until the American people do get angry and rise up, we will continue to be raped.

All of the regulators are like foxes guarding the henhouse. Since at least the 80’s no one has taken their jobs seriously and in late 90’s these people were given free reign to do what they want. Yet people continue to support them and in the case of teabaggers actually lick their boots while traveling around the country on a corporate provided bus.

In fact, in spite of the most recent troubles, the SEC remains quiet on the subject. It is criminal IMHO

Thanks, most of the knowledge for this piece came from the book I read. I never am able to get through a book on financial issues in less than a week or two. This one I finished, and took notes, in a little over 24 hours. Prior to reading the book, I would probably not even look past the Bankruptcy filing of a company to really determine what was behind it. You can bet I will be watching closer now. I also never thought of it in terms of employment, but anyone who wants long-term employment should take heed.

that is one of the things I am glad hit the PE. Because of the economic crisis, they are having a hard time filling those buildings………..and you are right about the banks and investment houses. Funny thing is alot of the brokers on the street were not financial wizards, they were giving their buy/sell advisories based on the analyst’s research in the firms. Some of that research could have been as old as one year. This guy’s book was very easy to read and understand.

I am not sure Obama will get ahead of this, he would have to warn people of something that could be damaging to the companies that are involved that are solvent for now. Of course he could turn his talk to “sensible financial decisions” that would give him some extra credibility but until these companies default there is not much he can say, except preach financial sense to the public.

You are right, I corrected from Tony to John. As to your question, not unless the holders of that debt want to forgive it. Even if the companies file BK it will put a strain on the systems because as is the case in a liquidation, creditors have to line up for any recovery. In addition, the author of the book said that payments on the US debt are going to come due, the government will not be in a position to bail them out, nor should they. It is just a rotten shame that the PE’s will get away with their riches in tact. Just remember the name Mitt Romney in case he runs for president.

Pepe, I agree all you have to do is travel into the central valley(probably a bit south) and you can find plenty of racists. Also in the mountains up here north. I am in the foothills in a very conservative county.

I think we all joke about it, but I very seldom ever ran into anyone in the south that was not friendly and polite. I did one guy at a dinner party, but I shut him down pretty quick.

You did not go to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while you were there? I have been in the summer heat and it is amazing to see the military do their drills in the hot sun, they don’t even sweat.

I met a friend there about 9 in the morning. We walked all the way to the top and back down again. By 11 in the morning my hair was soaking wet from the humidity. Our next stop was plan B (beer) at the old Post Office. We even played in the water squirters that day but we made it all the way to the capitol and back to pick up our cars at Arlington. Good shoes are a must.
