Especially in the southern states. The thing to remember is that they are people. Some of the folks you run across that may seem crazy, aren’t necessarily so. Some folks get a kick out of beating up or trying to rob homeless folk. If they believe you are crazy, sometimes they think twice. I’ve been homeless twice. There are some really great people on the streets. Intelligent, thoughtful, beautiful, and unfortunately either looked down upon or invisible to everyone around them. I don’t really mean diverse as in specific political leanings. What originally attracted me to HP was the many cultural and religious views. I generally don’t do debate with absolutists, those that have a very crisp and iron view of the their world and others(except when I’m trying to feel out more of a specific stances/ideas movement). People such as this are like the factions in the TP that, if they had the numbers, would rise up and kill anyone that didn’t think like they did. Where they treat their neighbors and friends with the same views they bring to the board/table. Those that see others as either enemy or on one’s own side. Or the corporatist that is such to the extreme. In such a case everyone, family, friends, strangers, are only important for their relative value to the individual speaking. So, diverse is actually diverse, rather than following a particular linear concept. If any of this doesn’t make sense, ask for clarification and I will try saying it differently.
