Media is a good term to use, since it is defined as “a way of conveying information.” However, there has to be a way of expressing “valid” media, i.e., factual media, versus “invalid media” or media that is more or less entertainment and not necessarily factual forms of media. It’s not just Fox… I’m a photographer, and I know that “pictures don’t lie” is not true. Photoshop aside, any photographer will tell you that what you EXCLUDE from the photo is just as important as what you INCLUDE. Same is true in news or even humor. I guess what I’m saying is that we all know that all media is not equal, yet we have only one word for it. I have an issue with the bill that goes beyond the union busting aspect. People may not realize that a good 25% of the state of Wisconsin is public land… state forests. Accessible to all… pristine forest, lakes, trout streams, rivers… Koch Industries is big in paper mills and forestry… lumber and wood products. In that bill is also the ability for the state to sell at NO BID to anyone they choose at any price they choose any and all state assets, including those lands. I wonder who might be owning 25% of a whole state real soon? Above and beyond all that, the American Indian tribes in Wisconsin have treaty rights on those lands. They are FEDERAL citizens, not state citizens. I wonder what the tribes have to say about it. The political reality is that NO ONE messes with the tribes, and it becomes a federal issue real fast. Second, I don’t know for sure, but let’s take some guesses… First, we are probably talking cash or cash-equivalents. I doubt we’re talking real estate. If that’s the case, these assets are really just numbers on a computer screen. Unless they are actually drawn upon, those accounts are simply sitting there on a Balance Sheet. The cash they represent can be used for anything at all by the banks they are in. The only time they become real currency is when the depositor does some sort of transaction. It’s the same with anyone. So, “freezing” an account simply means the depositor cannot access the account. The bank can invest it, loan it, or pay payroll with it and make money off it. If anyone comes around someday to collect it, the bank has to pony up. I imagine the courts will be involved down the road as to actual disposition. I’m guessin’ the banks will have a hard time letting go of all the free funny money.
